My Husband's Father was Deported Yesterday

My turn.

First I am so sorry for the way the US acts and is represented to the rest of the world. I feel for you, your husband, and your family, not only for the missed visit with family, the grandchild especially, but also for the humiliation he suffered. A night in jail? and you don't know why? being escorted to the plane.

I am angry and saddened by what has happened to you and wish to do all to assist.

First I would recommend contacting the ACLU in addition to the attorney you are already speaking with. The ACLU has a lot of clout and can get this thing in the media for you quite easily. They are the trodden person's legal representative.

As to why he was deported? or was it technically denied entry? Prior to receiving the visa the embassy did at least cursory name checks, they have to run it through CLASS to issue the visa. Was there a significant amount of time between the visa issuance and the arrival?

This would be the determining factor in whether it was just a mess up with a similar name or just plain discrimination. If it was a hit why wasn't anything done to attempt to clear it up? Just deport him and worry about it later?

I would ask for actual costs for the trip plus HEFTY punitive damages.

So sorry to hear this.

I'm so disgusted and ashamed by this! I do hope you talk to all the media and any representatives you can and that you fight them through your lawyer so that this doesnt happen to anyone else.

As i'm reading this I was thinking of you, Alexandra, and wondering what the he!! is wrong with the officers in Charolette that they think it's ok to treat people this way. So you even suspect someone's a threat... you get the information you need and you send them off. What's so hard about that? My love was sent home as well (from Dublin) but he was treated with much respect the entire time.

You've already been through so much. I'm so sorry for your family and i'm so ashamed that these 'people' represent America...shame on them! Your FIL sounds like such a strong and proud man. I got chills when you stated he claimed he was a 'friend to America' even after all he has been through. I know it's all fresh but I do hope that in time they will come back and experience the wonder that America really does hold. Those very few mashooganas make the rest of us look bad!

This should never happen to another human being... doesn't matter where they are from, what they look like or which God they pray to! It's called human decency.

There's clearly something awry going on in Charlotte. Thankfully on any POE's, my fiancee has been greeted with good humor, jokes, and compliments. (Portland, San Francisco)

Still, as an American I'd sure as hell give them hell for this before I tear up my own citizenship. Really tired of how the U.S. government treats Americans (especially doing things the legal way) with their decisions on who they're going to be with, not to mention their chosen SO's.

I hope everything turns out well. :(

When all of that happened, I did not know what to do! We called a attorney, and he said that there was nothing we could do about it! And I believed him, I dint know much about lows like I do today ( thanks to visajouney)

The worse part is that I have epilepsy, and I need to take my medicine everyday, the officers at the airport (in charlotte ) dint gave me the chance to take my medicine with me! The results of that was that I started having seizures and ended up in Hospital!

Those people ware just horrible!!!

I wasn’t the only one!

There was a old couple from Germany that got stopped to, they ware maybe 70- 75 years old!

And another woman that was put in jail with me and after 3 days deported to her home country! Even though her son and daughter ware born in America and she had being residing in America for 20 years holding a green card!

Those people are just horrible!

Wow! I don't know what to say. Allousa's story combined with Alexandra's stories.. .sounds like something is seriously wrong at the POE. Almost sounds like they have a quota going for numbers of epople they need to deport and when you get there and they need a new deportation... too bad.

Go after them....this is unacceptable, especially after I have read that they were supposed to adopt a gentlier image.

Have them check with the Consulate to run their passports and try to get an explanation as to what happened..

Contact your Congressman also, and try to get an answer...someone who has been here before with no overstay problem, etc., this is absolutely unacceptable.

This is no way to treat a senior citizen from any country!!!!!...that also had been interviewed by the Consulate and he was satisfied that they was no problem.

I finally got rid of the never ending money drain. I called the plumber, and got the problem fixed. I wish her the best.

You shouldnt feel u have to leave your own country because of those A$$ HOLES. I hate rude ### people like that and I can assure you they were just given the job like that they didn't get qualified and that's what angers me because if qualified people were working at the airport you would have payed whatever fine you needed to pay and they would have been able to stay. SOB

s. I'd so love to sue those MFkers.

I hope this case will be taken as far as possible.

If Customs felt the need to refuse entrance to your FIL, they have the right to do it, but they better have reasons and absolutely they have no right to treat people like that. It's inhumane.

I hope to see this on the news one day

I am sorry you had to go through this (F)

I am so sorry for what happened to you. God, I felt horrible reading your story and the one from Alexandra. No one should be treated like that. I understand national security, but the department of homeland security should still be held accountable for their actions and how they treat people. So much of this was entirely unnecessary. I wonder how those people would feel if their parents were treated like that. I am sure they would be upset then. There was a movie I watched not too long ago called "Rendition" where an American woman's husband who was Egyptian was coming back from a trip and got held up in customs. The guy held dual citizenship and still they deported him to Egypt and put him in a secret US prison there where they tortured him. It was a fiction movie, but it really scared me to think if that ever really happened.

I hope that you are successful in your case and that word gets out that people can't be treated this way with little or no evidence. God, they world already has a bad impression of American policies without this having to add to it.

I still can't forget about this story with Allousa. I'm just so sick at how a human could treat another human so badly. I don't understand why they couldn't ask for more fees or whatnot instead of deporting their Father. Very disgusted and I'm not too sure if I want my mother in law to come thru that kind of border protection.

I've thought of that too. I even worry for my husband. I would like to think we are better than that in America.
