In reality that would be my preference. We plan on living here for 10 years and then I will retire in the Philippines. If I could find a job there I would move tomorrow.

I would love to retire to Cebu City or surrounding area. But like my Asawa-to-be says, "Who knows what God's will shall be for us by that time."

Absolutely! It wasn't irritation with the USCIS that made us decide to move back, though (although in part, the idea of doing AOS and having to wait for my husband to work and get a SS number and all of that was daunting, particularly compared with the relative simplicity of the UK spousal visa system-one form, one payment, two hours, welcome to the UK and good luck!). We moved back because my qualifications and credentials go further over here and I've found a great job.

We do miss the US, though, and sometimes wonder what it would have been like if we had stuck around for AOS.

I think about it every time I miss my fiance, which is almost constantly. If not for my children, and grandbabies ( I have 3 and 2 due in a few months) I wouldnt give it a second thought!!! At least I was able to spend five weeks recently with my fiance and that was so wonderful.. Now its back to waiting again....

(sigh) I just keep telling myself the wait cant be forever, it gets me thru another day!

Good luck to All

Yup - ditto here..If Len could get a really good job he'd move here to the UK and cut out all this waiting, waiting, waiting. Cost of living is higher here though and he has 2 kids to think about - as opposed to my one - and I dont have a job so I couldn't support us; we'd probably have to have a smaller house and cram the 5 of us into it, with hardly much in the way of a garden/yard even if he had a decent job and started immediately :(

Still, they do say that some things that are worth waiting for are the only ones worth having - so I'll just suck it up til we're done :)

OFTEN...I love England. There is no language barrier...and I get this posting every week that lists jobs over there in my field. I could do much better there than here. Everytime I do...I wish. Only thing holding us back is my 4 yo...his dad would never agree. And my beloved says he could never let me make that sacrifice. But if it weren't for Gabriel...I would in a heart beat. In fact in my heart I think eventually we will. Every day I get more disgusted about the injustices I see in this country and less proud to be an American. Our situation is also complicated by being an interracial couple. Here in America there are still places that that matters. We have gotten funny looks and felt very uncomfortable at times. Over there...no one even notices. So I feel in the end it will be a better place to raise our bi-racial daughter. Just have to tough this out and wait for my 4 yo to reach age of consent...8 years...6 months...and 11 days.

Danette and I have talked about it. Our deciding factor was my field of work. I have experience enought that I am consulting in my field. I would have to wait about a year  before I could work up there. AND I would be taking a HUGE step back in my field. I love it in Nova Scotia  but no oilfield except offshore. Plus the wait.

Has anyone here felt like we should just give up on the papers and move to the other country? Instead of living in the US?

If anyone feels this way let me know, because this is how I feel

Not during the visa process, no. The process was relatively smooth for us. We got lucky.

But I am considering it now. I will wait for my wife to natz and then .... maybe. India's a much nicer place than it used to be when I was a kid there and thanks to all the new business it's getting better every year. It's a serious option for the future.

I wish my hubbie would consider it. I love Germany and I'm very homesick. I wish I could move back but what don't I do for love??

Hubbie has big plans to become optometrist, he can only do it in the US, not Germany. Language barrier and such.

But I can't wait to go back in the summer. Good thing I'll have my CR1 interview there soon.

 I actually considered it very seriously not too long ago. See, Javier is ineligible to receive the visa until August, 2008. However, in the end, we decided to stick it out because we both realize that life in Mexico would be too difficult for me.
