Hi all

I don't know if it has been posted before but I really want to know how often do you guys return to your homeland with ur spouse after leaving it for immigrating in the USA?

I had a shocking discussion with my fiance about it. He thinks goin back to Indonesia every other year is too much. I was weeping in the toilet earlier, I think that is very sad that I wont be able to see my family for a while. Instead, he wants me to go by myself. I don't think its fun. Pls give ur answer here folks!

Hi,

That depends between you and your fiance. . There are things to be considered in visiting the partner's country. Like , of course money , work and time..

As for us, once a year is a good deal for me already..

Thanks..

My husband has not been back home to his native Canada in almost two years. We hope to fly home this summer. It has not seemed to bother him too much since he can chat or call his family whenever he wants.

I currently live in Ireland, but my home country is Switzerland (2 hours by plane away). When my elderly granny was still alive I'd visit 2-3 times a year as I was her favourite grand child :) But now I only go once a year or every 16 months or so, due to wanting to take my holidays elsewhere adn social/ family comitments here (you try travelling with baby twins...).

Once we move to the USA, a lot will depend on our jobs (because you get so little holidays over there, we may not have the free days to visit Europe more than once every 4-5 years), and finances. Ideally, I would like to visit every 2-3 years so that the children know where mommy comes from, and my husband to come with me. However, if I can go easier- for example if I am lucky enough to be a SAHM- I'd be happy to go by myself.

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

Depending on where you're flying, I would check rather frequently on ticket prices. For my husband, our daughter, and me to fly home to Canada (Nova Scotia) will cost just under $1500 if I could book today for this summer. To the OP: If you're wanting to go home, and like most of us money is the big issue (time off being the other biggie) check sites like Hotwire, Priceline, CheapTickets, etc. Prices fluctuate all the time. The last time I flew to see my husband (before he came to the US), for our daughter and me to fly roundtrip, it cost $1300 for TWO, that was two years ago. Now, as of today, the price for three R/T tickets is just under $1500. I check almost daily as the prices can go up OR down. Just my thoughts. :)

My husband has been in the US for a year and he thinks it's too early to go home. He says he'd like to establish himself better here, and even though his boss loves him - he may not be able to take the time off of work quite yet.

However, I'm planning a trip to his hometown this August with my sister. I'm still trying to convice hubby to go with us (and I may be successful as he does miss it) .

since I moved here I have been back to Canada about once a year.... I have no idea if I am going to be able to make it up to Canada this year though... My parents were going to come in May to see their grandchild but now that is not happening.... they said they would be coming still but I haven't heard anything definite yet....

My fiance is not here yet but we are thinking once a year, if not then once every 2 years.

Both of us have family we need to see in Ghana and cannot imagine being away longer than 2 years.

I'm hoping for once a year, and have my friends visit me here often too. Justin is eager to tag along, he loves Buenos Aires, but I might want to go there by myself sometime, make the trip more friends-centered. :)

Saludos,

Caro

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

After this year, it will probably be every other year or so that we will go back to Indonesia. We could do every year, but we have other places we would like to travel to.

We are shooting for once every year minimum, but I'm sure that will change once we have kids (either way.)
