Depends on the consulate rules in the country of the interview. usually no sometimes yes. If you are allowed to attend I think it helps to go.

I went to my fiance's interview. I was told by everyone that I wouldn't get into the consulate  (Algeria) but my presence would be beneficial (he could take my passport in with him to prove I was there).

They did let me into the consulate (I sat and listened to all of the questions). His visa was approved. He arrived in the US In November. We were married 2 days ago.

If you can....go to the interview (even if you have to sit outside....)

At USEM Manila, absolutely.    May improves the chances.. slightly .. but nothing to make it necessary.   I was there for when my wife was interviewed, it was a great experience, glad I was there.  But did it improve her odds of getting the visa.... nope.

You can in London.

You can in Canada.

We didn't because my fiance had to work. It is also not a requirement in Canada. Our application was strong with Tons of relationship evidence but for those whos isn't so strong it may help get approval.

You can at the USEM. It is a good experience to go there to help calm your fiance. I went with my now wife and it went good. The CO could see that it was a genuine relationship and actually laughed at us. Also it helps because the USC can leave the electronics in a lockbox while the Pinoys have to resort to pay people outside the embassy.

Ditto Hank and cyberfx. Same personal experience as these guys. Go if you can but we all have no proof that it influenced the CO but my bet is that it did.

In Manila you can attend anyones if you like.  I watched and listened to about 10 K1 Visas Interviews and a handful of Tourist Visa Interviews.  I sat on the front row and felt like part of the interview.

Why they don't make the interview private anymore is probably since they have so many people applying for visas in Manila.

Just when you think you have TDS eradicate,  a new case shows up.

I have only seen two people denied to actually join the beneficiary at the actual interview.  Both were already married and CO told them (US Citzen) to go back and have seat.

But in general it seems almost everyone is allowed to join in, at least on a K1.

Our case isn't K-1 but R-1. It means my husband could join me inside the embassy and could see me being interviewed?

How can he get inside? I mean, are there any required documents or identifications need to present at the entrance?

I have went inside the USEM 3 times over the years.  I was never asked to present any ID's. I am very tall and have a long nose and very Kano looking

Those people outside make my skin crawl.  There are a few scammers mixed in their, they claim they will hold your electronics but when the people come outside to get their electronics they have disappeared.

All he needs to bring is his passport, most times they don't even ask to see it, but do make sure to bring it.

It is called a US passport to gain entry to a US embassy

YMMV
