depends.

if there's an RFE, instead, then not need to pay new fee.

having to refile and pay new fee is very rare.

have a read?

Depending on where he messes it up. Make sure he sends the check with the correct fee. Like previous poster said for RFE they dont make you pay an extra fee.

I dont know what RFE means

It means request for evidence, it can either be a request for something that is missing or a request for more evidence because what you sent wasn't enough.

Do you know what was messed up?

Oh ok thanks. So if they did request for more evidence would he have to pay the fee again or no?

He hasn't sent it out yet I'm just kind of trying to prepare for what might happen if there is a mistake made

No, he wouldn't have to pay a few again.

He would just have to send in more information.

Request for evidence. This is how they inform people something is lacking or incorrectly done. Should this happen a notice will be sent indicating what is needed. That evidence is sent back with the received notice. Upon receipt the case resumes.

OP, why don't both you and the fiance spend some time in the guides and completed forms sections of VJ BEFORE the petition is sent? That way you can be certain you followed all instructions and provided all that's required so no RFE would be coming.

Cool. We've a Guide Section - best studied when you are driving a keyboard on a PC. Make some time this week/weekend, study the K-1 section.

Good Luck, and GodSpeed !

If my fiance accidently messes up on the petition do they send it back with what needs to be fixed and does he pay the 300 something again?

1) Sounds like he's the US citizen that is preparing the I-129F packet?

If so, he should be the primary one to be on VJ and study what's all involved.

Thousands have done it successfully with the help from VJ site.

2) Fiancee (K1) visa processing is not quick. There will be many months of wait.

And if your submission is incorrect or incomplete, you will get RFE and this

hiccup will delay many weeks or months of processing.

3) It's so much better to spend the time upfront to study what's involved thoroughly

and send in a solid packet, otherwise, you will go through (sometimes) nerve wrecking RFE process.

Start from the following page, and read the guides, flowcharts, etc., and then ask questions on VJ site

to fill the gap in understanding.

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/300-general-k1-guides-and-info/

4) Initially, it will seem overwhelming, but once you read them, you will see that it's not all that bad.

5) Lastly, it would also help if you also read and understand it, so that you two can double check
accurate completion of all documents, and comprehensive submission of necessary support evidence/documents.

The best tip that I could actually give you is start on gathering evidences while he is still busy of something else. Like picture collage as it really take a lot of time from choosing the best photos out of all the best, putting dates and short description and collecting chat logs "selecting few best by dates that shows you talk or communicate very oftern" call logs and so on. I helped my fiance collecting evidences as he is really busy at work and school. And slowly go on your documents one by one so there's a less chances that you missed something. Guide provided from this website is awesome as it really does gave full details of it. Just spend more time first of understanding those so that you would be more specific on your questions and it will be a lot more easier for us to help you with the process of completing your required papers ;) Good luck. Give a lot of patience with that by the way.
