Do ladies have to pull long hair behind ears for the passport photo?

I visited some government websites and know that you are not supposed to smile, but didnt see  rules about ladies having hair over  ears. I understand they need to be able to see your face.

But what's about the ears ?  the example i attaches is from the U.S. government.

when you get through the airpot customs, do the office expect your face feature ,including the difference of your ears if they match the photo ?

 

i think the ears are way back position of your head. They shouldn't be counted as part of your face. 

 

any thoughts?

In Canada, I have to have both of my ears visible.

In America, I believe it is the same (at least my daughter had to have her hair pulled back), and they suggest not wearing white due to the light colored background (it'll look like your head is floating lol).

 

Normally, they will not allow any headbands, hairclips, etc. either.  If you wear a wig for medical purposes, it is allowed.  If you wear a religious head covering, it is allowed so long as your entire face is visible (ie. no veil over the nose and mouth area).

 

It just gives a nice, unobstructed and full-frontal portrait of your facial features, which is why they ask for it.

Thank you very much. I didn't mean for it to show up so big on here.  I thought I resized it to be smaller. Haha. I just wanted to give an idea of what they let me get by with. But my husband thinks I was lucky to be allowed to use it. He was always worried when I was traveling that I'd get stopped for that very reason. Never happened, but it was a worry. I suppose it's better to have your entire face showing, than to worry about it every time you travel.

I'm kinda surprised they let you use it too---especially since the bangs cover a portion of your other eye.

I just got a new passport a few months ago. When I had my picture taken they asked me to put my hair behind my ears. They said people have been coming back to redo pics because their ears were not showing. 

I just did it. Better safe than sorry.

sometimes, it depends on where you are going to apply for passport? the post office, or the passport agency ?

they might follow different rules according to their expereinces, although your photo  already satisfy all the required things as listed on the government website.

you may say, they are mean, or picky whatever,,,

why the picture on the passport turns out so NOT shining and good resolution as the ones we submitted ? 

the passport production company, they  scan  the photo we submit and print out on paper.

 

at least, give us a better picture as good as possible...not just clear !

Neither of my ears are visible and I had a mild smirking thing going on -- all without any issues.

Someone once told me it is easier to get a greencard then a canadian passport photo accepted LMAOOOO!!!

 

canadians have TONSSS of rules when it comes to photos. you cant even smirk a little! and BOTH your ears must be shown

 

americans, not so much. u can cover your ears it is ok. in fact, you dont even need to get your USA passport photo professionally done.  you can even smile in a USA passport photo. basically, they are the most lenient

why there are so many comments talking about Canadian passport photo when we are applying for US  citizens?

are they two different countries yet ?
