I'm on mobile, so can't see your husband's country, but so long as he can travel to Toronto without a visa or a green card, you should have no problems. Toronto has a poe to the United states at Pearson.

I'm not sure I understand what you have written correctly, so please correct me if I misunderstood. I understand you to say....the flight you have booked from France flies first to Detroit for a stop over (which happens to be point of POE) then to Toronto (which is where you desire to spend a few days). When you land in Detroit the first time for the stop over you will not be required to go through customs and immigration, you will just hang around the terminal/gate for the 3 hours then embark the plane to Toronto. Now, when in Toronto, you will land, get baggage and go through customs and immigration as a visitor only.

After your visiting is done and its time to fly back to Detroit for your POE, you will then do your POE at the Toronto airport as Not A Tailor suggested. I would plan on getting to the airport several hours before the flight just to be sure you make it through customs and immigration on time. Several people have reported POE at the Toronto airport as being quick but since your spouse is not Canadian it might take a bit longer. Toronto airport can be crazy so be sure to allow yourself the time.

Sorry my explanation was not clear. My husband is French and we are flying from Paris to Detroit (3 hour stop over) and then to Toronto. After a couple of days in Toronto, we are finally reentering Detroit as our final destination.

My understanding is that for any international connection flights going through U.S. airport to Canada, you still need to go through the U.S. customs and immigration before taking the connecting flights. Isn't this correct?

Also just to double-check.. He wouldn't need a ESTA nor transit visa, would he?

I've figured out how to find out what your interview date is!

Basically, if you stand in a dark bathroom in front of a mirror and say "immigration reform" three times, the ghost of an NVC worker who died from exhaustion due to too much overtime will appear behind you and hand you your packet 4.

Then again, I may have drank too much scotch.

I put in for an expedite request can't hurt! if it weren't for the NVC's incompetence we would be drinking Mojito's on south beach right now.... I put a more compelling reason together than that though!! I bet it takes longer for them to respond than getting my interview lol - anyone have any experience? may give the local rep's office a ring!

My CC was 9th april...Today i got an e- mail from NVC...My frist impression was it is P4 letter...but u know as i opened it was case completition confirmation e-mail.... They are sending this after 7 days of CC....i confirmed CC through phone call...But hoping P4 letter soon...!

I´ve got some further background info: the rep mentioned that they (I figure the phone reps) got an email that the interview departement are scheduling second round for May.

I asked him if that applies for Frankfurt / Germany or for all embassies. And his answer was: they don´t get a list which embassies so the May scheduling could be any embassy / consulate.

Hope it puts some more light on the mystery of scheduling interviews.
