hi indigoskies,

the uscis website says that the processing time for the california service centre is 6 months... https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/processTimesDisplay.do

it seems that most I130's get approved around the 3-4 months mark, though. fingers crossed! i really don't want to wait 6 months!

i never signed up for the email updates for the "TOUCHES"

and i have not idea if it had any touches either.

but i got my NOA1 without any trouble and at a decent amount of time. so don't worry if you get touches or not!!

RFE = Request for Evidence

you would get an RFE if you had some missing documents or if the processing center wants more proof of something. it's not so bad, it just takes more time if you get one.

Wow, first of all, Waiter, I'm really sorry your case got all hung up with an RFE. Hopefully they'll stop stalling and send your case through ASAP!

Here's our April filing timeline:

Married: 3/16/2010

I-130 sent: 3/31/2010

I-130 NOA1: 4/21/2010

Check cashed ($355): 4/22/2010

Touched: 4/23/2010

And up until this point, NOTHING. It's frustrating, too, to watch the estimated date of adjudication go up and down. At least right now the estimated time seems to be shortening rather than lengthening. Computer says sometime in August (maybe even early September), but I'm still hoping against hope that it will all be done by July and sent off to NVC.

On the topic of "shortcuts" and preparing paperwork while waiting for NOA2, I say it couldn't hurt. My husband already got all his documents in order (originals) and I've got photocopies of everything (took them with me when I had to leave him to come back to the US!), and I'm working on getting my AOS paperwork taken care of and ready to go for that glorious day when the NOA2 arrives! I've got a joint sponsor since I'm a graduate student and therefore not really making any money. Hopefully that won't cause problems or hold up our NVC process.

Best of luck to all of you! Please keep updating if you get any touches or information (or not). It's really comforting to know that we're not alone in this boat.
