Consular Processing ?

What ?

I though Consular Processing was analogous to DCF or Direct Consular Filing.

Please explain what is Consular Processing ??

Thanks in advance !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

DIRECT CONSULAR FILING : US CITIZEN Petitioner files I-130 at the designated US CONSULATE at the beneficiary's country of citizenship. To qualify for this PETITIONER and BENEFICIARY must show enough evidence that they stayed togather at the BENEFICIARY'S country of citizenship for a sufficient time. For more info one has to see the guidlines at the appropriate US CONSULATE NEAR BY. Flow of process (US EMBASSEY - US EMBASSEY).

Consular Processing: Contrary in this process, petitioner files from being in USA, and beneficiary will appear against US CONSULATE GENERAL at the nearest embassey. This is the flow of process (USCIS - NVC - US EMBASSEY).

I mailed my app on March 31, 2010, it was received on April 2. I have a notice date of April 9, and I actually received my Case # and NOA1 today April 15th.

My question is this... the return address on the envelope indicates the California Service Center. Does that mean that they have my application? (I ask because it appears that due to my location I should fall under the Vermont Service Center.

Does the return address really mean anything? Or might my application actually be in Vermont?

Yup - it means the boys at the Chicago lockbox sent if off to California. Don't sweat that, at all - there's some 'load balancing algorithm' that I know NOTHING about - when it gets too heavy at Vermont - them casefiles go to California. IMO - you should be relieved - as HISTORICALLY - California Service Center is WAY faster than Vermont Service Center.

Whilst the address is indicative, so is the case # in the receipt notice - should start with WAC. If it was in Vermont, it'd start with EAC.

Good Luck ! Hang In There !

Duplicate threads on April CR-1 filers merged - and DCF notation removed from title as not only DCF filers are contributing to the list

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
