Only took me an hour for interview. Flew in from Cape Town. Plane was delayed by half an hour. Got to Johannesburg and had to run for gautrain just made it in time for train. Got to sandton and walked about 10min to embassy. Got there just past 12. Waited outside until 1pm. We went inside they keep your phone at security. Went to sit until they called my number. First Window she asked me my police clearance unabridged and passport. Asked for proof of relationship. Asked me to go pay around the corner . Did that and was called to another window for fingerprints. After that I went to sit waited maby 10min.then the American gentlemen called me. He asked me to raise my right hand. So then asked me a few questions. Where did you meet your fiance? Where does he work? What does he do for a living? When did he come to the United States? Where in Mexico is he from? When are you planning to get married? Are you planning a wedding in South Africa? When he visited you did you travel? He said everything seems to be fine. Your visa will be ready in 7 to 10 days. Everything took maybe about an hour maybe less. Had enough time to walk around and catch the train back to airport and catch my flight at 19:25. Was a good experience. 2021-09-22

As everybody said before, they made us wait across the street. As I was there super early, I waited in the park to clear my head a bit. I went back there around 6:00 which was a pretty good idea since they were calling for 6:30AM appointments exactly when I showed up I went through the first security check and then a lady asked for my medical sealed envelope, my passport, my DS-160 confirmation page and my police certificate. She put them all together, gave them back to me and told me to keep going. Once inside, there was a second security check, Got inside, followed the “visa” signs and got in line with other people. At least 6 or 7 were before me. I waited something like half an hour at least. After that I finally got to see someone. She took my fingerprints and my documents (the medical sealed envelope, my passport, the confirmation of payment with my address, the DS-160 confirmation page, the police certificate, the birth certificate and the 5x5cm picture). She didn’t ask for anything else, not even the updated letter of intent. She gave me a copy of my original approved petition and the original of the pictures submitted at the time. I didn’t have to wait for the other counters (where take place the interviews) because no one was waiting. I got immediately assigned to the only one with a lady inside and she was nothing but... adorable Extremely polite and all smiling. She asked me if I spoke English, made me raise my right hand and take the oath. She also took my fingerprints (yep, again, just in case I had been replaced by my doppelganger between the two counters that were only 5 meters away from each other XD). For the rest of the interview, she remained extremely professional and not a second she was judgmental. Actually she was extremely sweet all the interview long. Now, here are all the questions she asked me. Keep in mind that some are, of course, related to my personage -who is filing for you? -what's the name of your fiancée? -when did you first met her -where did you meet each other? -when last did you see her? -where you ever married before? -was she married before? I really didn’t experience the whole thing like an interrogatory. She took her time to ask the questions and was typing some of my answers. She had my application in front of her and was looking at it at the same time. Just for you to know, she was discovering the application for the first time. From her reactions I could tell through her questions I detected some kind of curiosity, but not a single judgment once. When she was done, she said that my paperwork was in order, that the interview was over and that I was approved :D She explained me that they would keep my passport between 5 and 10 days and would have everything sent back to a paticular pick up center, reaching out to a leaflet and selecting a location from the list of centers outlined once the visa’s issued. At the end of the process, I took the time to thank her for being this sweet and understanding with me. In my situation, I’m used to very negative reactions, so I was extremely surprised - in a good way of course - that she acted this respectfully with me. In short, I’d never have thought I'd say that but I had a great time!!! After all said and done, I believe I got out around 7:21 or something. Considering my situation, I was really dreading this interview, but I believe that as long as your relationship is genuine, you really have nothing to worry about. Feel free to message me if you want! And to the people in similar situations: the whole process may seem insurmountable, but don’t give up, it is possible, just look at me Hope this review will help and good luck to you all! :D 2020-04-29
