Max1gk reacted to Brother Hesekiel in Why I Hope the Rich Get Richer
I don't have a problem with capitalism at all. I not only want the super rich and the rich to make money: I want everybody to make money. For every CEO who buys but one Italian Lamborghini, I want 10,000 Americans to buy 10,000 new American Automobiles!
If one makes very little, he or she should not be taxed at all. Once the income rises to a comfortable level, a small amount goes to income taxes. As the income rises, so do the taxes. Somebody who makes $5,000,000 per year, needs to pay at least half of that income in taxes, and if they don't like it, they have the option to invest part of their income in the U.S. economy, not as a write-off, but as an investment, a real one.
The first real achievement for the American people came when F.D.R. was voted into office. Being born with a golden spoon in his mouth but hit hard by contracting Polio at the prime of his life and being disabled henceforward, he felt what it's like to be hurt and at a disadvantage and thus has to be credited with what we would call the social net today.
The first real blow came when cowboy Reagan introduced the trickle down economics. Since then every President was selected and funded by the almighty corporations, Clinton and Obama included, and as a backup they have appointed Supreme Court judges who gave corporations the rights of a person, but without having to pay income tax, of course.
As long as we have the Corporate Party of America in power, this country will go downhill until We the People will get up from the couch watching Jerry Springer and create a change we can believe it.

Thanks for the reply, Max and Mayan, it was helpful. I don't think I'll bother with the entry visa then, it seems like the Canadian immigration recognize the NOA.

Depending on the timeline involved, they MAY grant you emergency advanced parole. Your fiancee should make an infopass appointment with a copy of your father's death certificate. I've heard of cases where people have received advanced parole after leaving the country. There are no guarantees, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

Thanks so much even though this is really sad...anyways, it was for a good cause. I would rather wait 2yrs than forgo the opportunity to see my dad for the last time. I still have a valid Canadian visa though and i guess if the wait becomes unbearable we can meet in Canada.

It truly blows my mind how anyone would want to waste money on immigration ambulance-chasers ,who are notorius for being totally incompetent, when with a website like VJ and Its low-IQ proof preparation materials they can easily do the job by themselves. This is like the 21st bad story about petitions with lawyers involved I've heard about so far. Do it yourself people, learn form the mistakes of others.

TO YOU, MY DEAR MARCH FILERS FRIENDS
    Cherished Friends
God must have known there would be times
We'd need a word of cheer,
    Someone to praise a triumph
    Or brush away a tear.
He must have known we'd need to share
    The joy of "little things"
    In order to appreciate
    The happiness life brings.
I think He knew our troubled hearts
    Would sometimes throb with pain,
    At trials and misfortunes,
    Or goals we can't attain.
He knew we'd need the comfort
    Of an understanding heart
To give us strength and courage
To make a fresh, new start.
    He knew we'd need companionship,
    Unselfish... lasting... true,
And so God answered the heart's great need
    With cherished friends... like you!

She can live and work here legally.
She cannot apply for US Passport because passport is only for a citizen, it's a symbol of being a citizen of such nation.
She cannot vote, do not vote or claim to be a US Citizen in ANY form of both government or private secter EVER, this is real serious.
She can get welfare but is NOT recommended at all, never apply for Food Stamp, SSI, Disability, Medicaid or any other mean-tested benefits. If she apply for any of those benefits it will likely be a problem when she's applying for Naturalization.
She can get SSN and Driver License.
She can get grant or student loan for collage as these are not considered mean-tested benefits.
She can pay for collage at a residencial rate, will not be considered an international student.
    She can collect unemployment.
Any more questions, just ask away.

No. He is not eligible to work. There used to be some confusion that K-1s could work, but that has been clarified now with the updated I-9 Employment eligibility form. Your lawyer is out of date. Check the I-9 Employment Eligibility form, and note the requirements. He can APPLY to get an EAD before marriage, however, it will take around 3 months to process, expire when his I-94 does (3 months from POE), and cost $340.

Not being sarcastic sorry if came across that way. People want to whine as I did. Free and happy for it. I know how it is to wait with no idea.... I am just saying right now is not a good time for NOA2. Something is broke at NVC in processing applications. Right now I feel worse in limbo then before. At least when in waiting for NOA2, I KNEW my application was at the USCIS. Now my application is neither at USCIS or recieved at NVC. Until my applications re-appears somewhere, I have no idea where I am. the sad part is this is true of most CSC people in the last 5 weeks. If you take that in total. That is about 2,500 to 5,000 applications in limbo. I know you want the approval. and I hope it comes soon. I just hope NVC is fixed by the time you get the approval. Don't want to see you sit for another month or longer wondering where the application disappeared to.

I agree with you. However, there is a huge difference in F33/M20 (both child-bearing age) and F51/M29.. This is simply biological matter, if you will. We are all animals with natural instincts, though sophisticated, and child-bearing age has an effect on human inter-gender behavior. I wish the best of luck to the PO, however, we all have to recognize the difference, keep it in mind, and you cannot claim that this is the same situation.

I cannot understand why you would NOT think an age difference that big would be a red flag. You need to look at it from the CO's point of view. They are looking for fraud and trying to decide if something is out of the norm. How many 29 year old men in Morocco have you met that are married to 59 year old women? You need to put aside your own emotional investment in the situation and realize these people are doing their job and have been trained at what types of things scream fraud. Huge age differences where the woman is older just happens to be one of them.

    I would suggest~~~
    Petitioner:
Order your tax return transcripts to prepare for the affidavits of support you will provide for the visa, as well as for adjustment of status. Only the most recent tax return is required, but you can order three years at a time for free from the IRS. Tax return transcripts are summaries of your whole tax return provided free by the IRS. They can't be faked because it's a copy/summary of your whole tax return picture, basically certified by the IRS because it's issued by them. That's why you don't have to include any 1040, Schedules, W2s or 1099s if you send a transcript. They are free from the IRS. Transcripts take the place of sending a complete tax return. There's an online ordering form http://www.irs.gov/individuals/article/0,,id=232168,00.html OR if you call 1-800-908-9946 (the transcript line), there is an automated system for ordering transcripts. You'll have to enter your Social Security number and the numbers of your street address. It will generate an automated request to mail your transcripts.
    Beneficiary:
Go to your NHS doctor and get the immunizations you will need for Adjustment of Status. You can get a K1 visa without having any shots, but you will need them before AOS. Its really wise to take care of it before getting to the US. Many NHS doctors will do them for free, but they are not obligated to do so for immigration purposes. If you had theses shots as a child, Tdap/Td must be no longer than 10 years ago or you have to do them again. Get the shots documented by your doctor to take to your visa medical exam. Heres the shots needed for 19 through 59 years of age:
Td or Tdap - Maybe not available in the UK, so get DT, DTP or DtaP and it will be accepted for AOS
MMR (if born in 1957 or later) Get two in the series if possible since he has time to wait the interval.
Varicella Not routinely given in the UK but have seen reference to it being available; a history of having chickenpox excuses you from the shot. They take your word for it at the visa exam.
Influenza - During flu season only, October 1 through March 31. This was a new recommendation dated November 2010 for all ages over 6 months. Older lists will say flu shots for over age 50. It changed.
Get what's listed as that is what the USCIS requires. What your GP in the UK says you need has no bearing on what will be acceptable to USCIS

    MessyBrownHair,
As an immigrant myself, I have some experience on building credit. It can be difficult to find a credit card that will approve you without a credit history. So, you can start with store credit cards (Macys, Sears, Target, etc.) or you can also consider obtaining a "secure" credit card (you deposit a certain amount of money with the company as a collateral or insurance to your debt). There are also credit cards that can be obtained without the need for a deposit. I would suggest you try to start with one of the latter, if possible.
Other VJ members have been succesful obtaining the Capital One card that is specially designed for new immigrants. I would suggest that you obtain a credit card on your name and use it wisely. I actually pay everything by credit card. By doing this, I have built a credit history. I pay off my credit card balance every month so I pay no interest or fees whatsoever and I actually get rewards for my credit card use! Again, the key is self-control and responsibility. Make your payments on time and in full if you do not wish to be charged interest. Your credit history will begin to be built as you use your credit. Little by little your credit score will improve and you will be more easily approved for more credit. It is a process that takes time and intelligent budgeting and self-control as I have already mentioned. Do not fear credit cards (as so many people do), simply understand their use and potential problems.
    Best wishes!

Be very careful of credit cards...its so easy to over spend. I would suggest a store credit card to start with...i.e. Macy's, Kohls. Pay it ON TIME, ALL THE TIME. And always try to pay more than the minimum due. Rule of thumb, if you can't afford to buy it in cash...DON'T BUY IT.

Your spouse must be from a VWP country, or a country where visitor visas are issued. Because I can't imagine there are many $50k a year jobs that are going to let someone take a 3 month vacation to go live in another country with their significant other.
I don't make anywhere near $50k a year, and I have a family of 3. And we're doing just fine. Your judgement of people's coping abilities is a little harsh.

    Romain,
assuming you are a French citizen, do you need a special visa or permission in order to work in France, or can you work in France because you have a French passport?
Now replace "French" and "France" with "US" and you have your answer.
