    Answers:
Yes, you are required to file an I-864, even if you have no income.  Your dad as a joint sponsor will also fie an I-864. An I-864A can be asked for even if your dad qualifies on his own; to potentially save yourself time later on, have his wife complete the I-864A. No, you will not count in your dad's household size.

See bold above.  Comingling of finances is not expected when the couple has never lived in the same country together during their marriage.  Filing as married filing separately, is appropriate, but for Consular Officers not a big deal one way or the other.

And concentrate on evidence of time spent together in person.  That's really the most important evidence.

Ryan H reacted to Ontarkie in Do I need to change my passport last name?
That must be a first. Since they can't or are not supposed to issue a visa in a different name then what is listed in the passport.

Oh nvm your wife was a K1 not the same thing. The OP needs the passport to be in her married name if she wants the GC in her married name. As the Visa will be issued in the name to match the passport. Once she enters the US her GC will be processed as what is shown in her passport.

There is no need to engineer or contrive relationship evidence.  Your passport stamps and boarding passes along with photos as evidence of your time spent together in person, is the best evidence.  Types of evidence that are not practical for couples living in separate countries are simply not expected.

This is not accurate. There are, of course, local employees who do clerical tasks, but the individuals who provide notarial services, interview for passports or CRBAs, etc., are Consular Officers (COs) assigned to the Citizen Services unit.

However, they do not have access to the immigrant visa cases and cannot review a case file or documents for an applicant.  If you schedule an appointment for some other service and go in, they will do nothing more than to tell you that.  So, don't waste your time or their appointment; it will not achieve what you want.  Your time is better spent reviewing the requirements very carefully and preparing your document submission as completely and thoroughly as you can.

And, a note of clarification:  NVC serves as a clearinghouse for document submission, fee payment, and scheduling of the visa interview. They are not COs and do not have actual approval authority. When they mark a document as "Accepted", it means that you have submitted something for that category that appears to meet the requirements or that you say is what will meet it. The final decision on that is, of course, up to the Consular officer at the interview.  (Take a look at what the official description of NVC's role is at https://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/PDF-other/NVC_role_in_IVs_for_applicants_November_2016.pdf).

Believe it or not -- both NVC and the interviewing CO want everything to be fine and for you to get approval at the first interview, just lIke you do. They have more than enough work to keep them busy without having to go back to a file and review documents submitted after the interview. So, relax, prepare the material to the best of your ability, and things will work out.

Affidavits are useless unless they are the ONLY evidence you have.  Anyone can produce a personal affidavit to say anything.  I would avoid them altogether.  Concentrate on QUALITY.....not quantity.

It's the same kind of work but this kind of "work" definitely IS allowed.  Washing dishes is work.  Is your visiting parent not allowed to wash dishes in your home when visiting?  Sheesh.

That said, the spouse with immigrant intent is unlikely to be granted a visitor visa during their immigrant visa process.  They are allowed to visit if they already have the visa or are from a country from which visitors do not need visas.  Visitors are definitely allowed to cook, clean, do yard work, etc. while visiting.  The just can't become "employed".  Note what we often refer to as "work authorization" is really "Employment Authorization".  EAD stands for Employment Authorization Document.

Correct, and yes, the spouse beneficiary info is the info of the foreign spouse. If your immigration attorney doesn't know these basic facts, I would consider them worthless and fire them.

    **Moderator hat off**

Submitting the AR-11 at this point was unnecessary since a green card has not yet been issued.  All your wife needs to do is what she is already planning to do and that is to give the correct address to CBP.

Clarification is needed here, did your husband cancel the appointment he had or did he simply not show up?

It's a moot point for your circumstances but for the benefit of others who may see this, your husband should've gone to the appointment as scheduled, issuance of a visa would've only been delayed until the results of the medical exam were received by the Embassy.
