Just had my interview today. I got a form with a box checked for "Congratulations! Your application is recommend for approval." They told me to wait for the Oath Ceremony letter in the mail.

You are certainly entitled to vote your conscience and I am mine. However, I don't think you are entitled to ask me stop expressing my opinion as long as it doesn't violate VJ TOS.

At any rate, I will not respond to this line of responses on this.

I wouldn't say there's nothing you can do. Once you become a US citizen you can vote against Trump and those who support his platform to eliminate the Trump effect. That's about it but its worth doing.

Just the day before the one-year anniversary of the submission date, I received an email from USCIS that my case has changed to "Testing and Interview". I know my case is way behind most people's, but my family and I are super excited! By the way, tomorrow will be the first day of my new job.

OMG! Today I got my N400 exam notice in the mail. I knew something was off when my husband walked in the house (holding mail) saying I better call USCIS on Monday because no notice was in the mail yet.  My interview will be in early May. I can not wait. March filers we are almost there! FINALLY!

Security of our country is a waste of time?  Really? This isn't about looking for "anti-Trump" posts.  It is about screen for people/organizations which might pose a threat to citizens and residents of the US.

~Moved to US Immigration News and Discussion~

The fact it is from the news source you sites makes me think it's abit exaggerated; but never the less, national security trumps all things like 'inconveniences'.

As for the "gun control" matter... check some facts and statistics. Teens are killed more from texting and driving per year than any gun violence.

The most dangerous cities in the US for gun related violence/murders are "gun free" or cities have the strictest gun policies.

A criminal, no matter how many "magical" laws are in place, will break the law regardless to do what they intend to do.

By the way, here's something people didn't read much about because it got pretty much burried in the normal main stream news : http://www.scmp.com/news/world/united-states-canada/article/2139372/teenage-taiwanese-exchange-student-accused-threat

And trust me, I'm all for legal immigration; but these things happen and can't just be ignored.

floridadave reacted to Ben&Zian in US to require would-be immigrants to turn over social media handles
Again, main stream media (CNN, MSNBC, ect) live to strike "fear and terror" into people. Especially immigrants. Notice, ICE goes to arrest known illegal criminals and news networks only manage to complain that ICE is "terrorizing immigrant communities"... always stuff from them like that that drives the average American and LPR crazy to hear.

Your welcome.  And congratulations on your citizenship!

After a few days, if you desire, you can check the status on your passport at:  https://passportstatus.state.gov/  There, we entered our email address for updates via email too.  I liked the email updates because they sent us a tracking number for the passport they mailed to us via USPS Priority.  Your Cert. of citizenship will be returned via USPS first class mail in a large envelope.  If you applied for a passport card, that will be mailed to you in a USPS first class letter size envelope.  And don't forget to sign your passport!

    Good luck and happy travels!

First, on the certified true copy.  I made an appointment with infopass.  Two weeks later at the appointment my wife took the original certificate and a photocopy.  After some confusion, she did get a certified true copy.  The true copy was our photocopy with a big stamp on the back with annotations, certificate number, initials, etc.  They also attached a form letter to the new certified true copy.  Gosh, it looked so good and authoritative.

The wife sent the passport application along with the “certified true copy.”  This was my suggestion because the DOS website’s instructions were written where it could be understood that the true copy was good enough.
Not so, at least for my wife.

4 weeks after mailing the passport application, w/certified true copy, she received an email, and copy of same in postal mail, requesting the ORIGINAL certificate.  At this point we just caved and sent in the original as the DOS email requested.  4 more weeks later the passport, original certificate and certified true copy were received in the mail within 2 days of each other.  Oh yes, and passport card was received too because she applied for that also.

Total lost time was 6 weeks:  2 weeks for infopass appointment and 4 weeks for DOS to send letter requesting original certificate.

    Hope this helps.  Good luck!

I know people on this forum tend to hate on undocumented immigrants, but I still don't get why it's perhaps acceptable to benefit from someone's brilliant (and highly educated) minds, but it's ok to take advantage of strong backs and financial need of people who cross from poorer countries?  Large parts of our economy are based on having undocumented workers desperate to earn money, but it's considered ok to use 'em up and deport them.
Sorry, I know this thought is outside what was mostly being discussed so far, but the discussion of what it means to be a community and not just a business made me think of it.

I feel sorry for you. You must have a very sad, miserable life to be so hateful and nasty.

To answer your questions. No, I did not have a choice about moving to the US nor am I free to move back home, even though I would love to because the US is a really  country to live in. But my husband, who is a USC by birth (as is his parents and their parents and so on all the way back to when this continent belonged to Native Americans), has a sick mother who can’t travel or move abroad. We take care of her because that’s what real families do.

If we can convince my parents to move over to the US, they would live on their own. Why would you think they would live with us just because they move over to the US? They have their own money and their own life. And since they’re from Europe, they’re two healthy 70 year olds who probably cost less medically than most 30 year old Americans. Not to mention that many of the foreign parents you seem
so scared of are well off retirees who bring their wealth with them to the US and spend their foreign earned money here, in the US. They bring money into the US economy, not the other way around.

throughly reviewed the application and checked everything
but said he needs supervisor approval hence gave me a decision cannot be made. But the officer said he does not see an issue you will get an update by end of today post supervisor approval. I am not worried is this normal??

The wife had her oath ceremony today and I attended as a guest.  Conducted at the Tampa FO just north of Tampa International Airport.  Very organized, professional, and solemn ceremony.   About 50 took the oath and too bad as two did not make it to the ceremony.
Quickly the ceremony proceeded as follows:
    1.       Voting information presentation given by a voting registration employee.
    2.        Video Presentation of Faces of America.
    3.       National Anthem
    4.       Presentation of candidates who stood when their country of origin was called.
    5.       While standing, administration of the Oath of Allegiance by the field office director.
    6.       Short speech by an officer about the responsibilities of citizenship.
    7.       Short video by POTUS.
    8.       Music video presentation of America the Beautiful.  Very moving.  Almost brought me to tears.
    9.       Pledge of Allegiance by all in attendance.
    10.   Naturalization certificates handed out by row by FO director and another officer.  The director and other officer stood at the end of each row and as the new citizen exited their row they handed their certificate.  Photos of the presentation was allowed and everyone was politely patient.
Before leaving my newly naturalized wife registered to vote and I took advantage of the chance to change my party affiliation on the spot.

We then left for a celebratory meal at a local Chinese restaurant.  That’s it.  Passport journey next!
