Different state different time but when I came in my State the wording was vague and it seemed I could drive for a year with my DL. They changed it to 90 days when everything was redrafted, and now it says 30 days. EAD was the first thing I got that was on their list but back then I think I got it in 6 weeks so not really an issue. I assume K1s are a small minority and I doubt that they drive any of the rules. When I was in the DMV there was a lady ahead of me who was trying to get a DL based on her having a J but on that trip had entered on a B, with language etc issues I do not think the guy was explaining it well and was tempted to step in, but did not.

There is no mention of them issuing one on a K!. I had to go to my DMV recently, took several weeks to get an appointment, you can no longer turn up and wait. So lets say a best case scenario and they will you would get learners permit and then take the test and then get a full DL which would expire 90 days after entry assuming that had not past. Michigan seems to just require you to do this as soon as possible there is no grace period.

Now I am no expert on this but have seen quite a few cases where just because you have served 10 years does not mean you get deported when you are let, With Holding of Removal etc and some countries just do not want their bad eggs back. I am not sure you have to give it a few days now to get a SSN, back in the day I gave it a week before rocking up and applying for a SSN.
