You can see approval (or RFE) at any day now really if you your NOA1 is Jan 2024.

I kinda squashed the idea, without any damage. I just thought it was a little out of the norm, especially with the 129F process moving along.

I think it is over. Yes, I’d rather just give her $50, and forget about the piglets.

What??? Cutesy nicknames but not married?? How can this be a problem? At the very most, an RFE/I later to clarify. I wouldn’t slow anything down, at the most, a simple clarification.

The biggie is, are you officially married or not, with documentation, sounds like not. My beneficiary calls me ‘husband’ all the time, zero worries for me. I didn’t sent copies of those texts though.

Anyway, I wouldn’t slow anything if sent, clarification at the most.

My wife and step-daughter had their interview this morning and were approved for their IR1/IR2. Status went from ready to issued. Pre-Screen and Interview were smooth, cursory questions.

Welcome and Congratulations on your approval!

This thread was created for those who are waiting for their NOA2  K-1 case assignment from NVC and then tracking your case onwards to your Embassy.

    A few helpful NVC links:

     NVC phone number is  (603)334-0888

🚨  Please note:  They are currently NOT answering queries over the phone! 🚨

They are answering through the below emails :

If you need to submit an inquiry, change an address , or need to update your info in anyway NVC also has a public inquiry form where you can submit your request as well as other requests:

Also, inside the attached PDF below are a few tips, tricks and hacks to help you along the way.
These are items that everyone asks for, so they have been very helpfully put together by senior VJ Member Greenbaum for you to refer to when necessary. If you are new to this thread, please read these first as these are the most asked questions.

NVC sends petitions to the embassy every two weeks on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I noticed a 2024 shipping calendar being shared so I have included it below.

You can use that calendar to track when the next shipment date will be.

widude reacted to MarJhi in Raising a Few Pigs for Profit, Semi-Rural Province???
It has been my experience that nearly all business ventures started by Filipinos lead to very small profits, which they are okay with or at least that is their expectation. Anything NOT losing money is seen as a gain, you are thinking with an American mindset.

widude reacted to J.M. in Raising a Few Pigs for Profit, Semi-Rural Province???
I doubt it would be very expensive to help her do this, but almost certainly there will be no profit.  Your investment and periodic up-keep expenses will not be factored in as part of the cost, so to her it will seem quite profitable.  For you, not so much.  I would stick with quashing the idea.  I've read a little about others doing similar, but the pigs got sick, which substantially increased the loss.  As stated above, as long as she is not losing money, she will consider it profitable, and time well spent.  Profit margins are extremely low even if you know what you are doing.  If she has no experience, she (you) will lose money.

I was told an ‘estimate’ of 1-3 months at the NVC. That would be a fair amount shorter than time at the USCIS.

1 in 10 or 1 in 17 is not true, according to my wife, who just failed X-ray along with about 80% of the others. She said there were 3-400 also there for the start of her sputum tests.

widude reacted to Jimmyzr1 in Lung X-Ray/Test Prior to Med Exam??
My wife took all of the precautions, including an X-ray 1 month prior, which she passed, she took vitamins, exercised, milk x 1 week and other meds. Went to medical, got flagged for sputum, along with about 80% of the others, she said. had to go back 2 weeks later for the 4 days, including the day off for holiday and just finished today. She now has to wait until July 1st to go back, if nothing shows up negatively. Then she has about 1.5 months after that date to get in the US, along with her son.

widude reacted to J.M. in How long is the wait time for the interview when the case already arrived at the beneficiary's home country (2024)
For K-1, your case will go to NVC after NOA2.  There is no way to track it.  It can take a week to a couple of months for NVC to receive it.  Mine took 2.5 months to get there.  Others, with the same NOA2, got there in a week.  Once it is at NVC, they will assign an MNL case number and forward it to Manila.  That will happen 1-3 weeks after NVC officially receives it.  You are looking at 1-3 months total for NVC to receive it, assign the case number and send it to Manila.  You should request your case status from NVC using the public inquiry form (online) starting a couple of weeks after NOA2 and weekly thereafter until they give you the case number.  You can Google NVC public inquiry form to find it.

Once you have the case number, you are in charge of the rest of the process.  Do not wait for the Manila embassy to prompt or guide you.  They will not.  With the case number, you can fill out and pay for your DS-160, then schedule your interview, then schedule your medical appointment once you know your interview date.  After all that is complete, you will schedule CFO, which will be the last thing needed before departure.

The time between Manila receiving your case and completion is mostly dependent on how quickly YOU move through the process.  Expect some delay to get an embassy appointment, but nothing extreme.  It should be no problem to complete everything in the Philippines in 1.5 to 2 months.  That's allowing 1 month to get an interview appointment, a week to get passport back, and a week to complete CFO.  A lot of it depends on how far away your fiancée is from Manila.  If she's close, you can complete things pretty quickly.  If she has to travel a lot to get there, that adds time because you have to leave extra time to arrange travel.

My guesstimate would be 3-4 months from NOA2 until ready for departure.  There are always variables.  It could be quicker or take longer.

‘Time will be short’? Is that to connect from international to your domestic flight to CLT?

The normal procedure when coming in internationally is to go though immigration, collect any checked bags, then a potential Customs check. There are lines for everything, depending on other flights. After that it’s back in line and security again for the domestic flight to CLT. It varies, often a minimum of a 2 hours planned timeframe.

I’d be so relieved to get through it all, I’d almost get a hotel room in Atlanta(that takes pets) and rest up some.

I cross borders a lot with my job. One 1st question, how does the Customs person know if your ring cost $500 or $6000? Do you need to tell everyone you paid the $6k?

Just make sure everything is set to get through Customs. I personally wouldn’t worry any about the ring, don’t lose it.

I’m sure you can  look at the Customs website to find limits on goods & cash. I’ve taken/wore Rolex watches through Customs, no biggie. Now if one is trying to take 10 fakes to resell, that could be a problem.

I’m taking a ring international next weekend, not as high $$ as yours, but I have zero concerns. YMMV, shouldn’t though.

widude reacted to J.M. in Philippines Immunization Record? Additional Vaccines?
Providing an immunization record keeps you from getting unneeded (duplicate) immunizations.  Not having one just means she will get all required immunizations.  Not many provide a record.  It is no big deal if she does not have one.

All shots required for US entry will be given during medical.  There is no point in getting them before the medical exam.

For "failing" the chest x-ray, the result is that you undergo sputum testing.  Sputum is collected for 3 days and then cultured.  That is what the 2-month delay is about.  If the culture comes back negative, you can complete the medical exam at that point.  That is usually the end of it.  If, however, the culture comes back positive, that is when treatment would start.  TB treatment would be under direct physician care, with the medication and duration determined by the doctor, typically around 6 months.

There is nothing "preventable" about the chest x-ray.  SLEC looks at it and makes the decision.  All you can do is hope you aren't flagged.

If it will count anyway, the 129F, and you have the door open to a little more evaluation, may as well leave it go for now. I am not sure exactly when the filed 129 is counted, answer may be above.

There will be plenty of time in coming months to stop the process.

Covid vaccine mandates seem so yesterday. Say one got a shot with a booster over a year ago, likely no bearing on anything to do with Covid now.

Not saying a particular embassy wouldn’t have a mandate of sorts, seems easier to just require a mask. So far I haven’t seen anything close to a vaccine mandate.
