  1. I'd encourage her to be more proactive about her N-400. She's about to become a citizen with all rights and responsibilities. You doing paperwork and putting yourself as preparer may come across as her not being proficient in English. She's ultimately responsible for accuracy of all information on the form. Unless she has a health reason or of a senior age, she must be able to answer everything at the interview and comment on her answers on the form. I would help filling the forms together, going through each question, and not put myself as a preparer on a form. It could hurt IMHO. The very first question she may get is why didn't she fill everything herself. That's only my opinion and not a legal advice.
  2. Unless it's an urgent trip that cannot be rescheduled, I wouldn't leave until I-751 is back on track. The risk of getting a denial for entire case is there.
  3. Amazing, congratulations on approval! Enjoy the 10 year GC and peace of mind that comes with it ☺️
  4. What about the child's parents? Any of them still alive?
  5. How about spouse? I heard you can play from spouse's country of birth. E.g. if OP is married to a person born in the UK they may qualify?
  6. Expunging doesn't work for immigration. You'd still have to disclose it.
  7. Reusing is never guaranteed. One should always assume appointment will be needed. Good luck!
  8. Congratulations! How do you feel now?
  9. That extension letter is useless if it has invalid name or doesn't match name on GC. I think you should keep getting I-551 stamps in passport while I-751 is pending. Hopefully, 10 year GC will come with the right name and country. What name did you put in your I-751? I hope married name? You're lucky you were able to board the plane to the US. Do not travel internationally without valid I-551 stamp in valid passport. You should not attempt any more I-90 as your case is messy already. Also they won't issue an expired 2 year GC as replacement. Just make sure I-751 has valid information.
  10. Yes this also happens, unfortunately. It's painful for some those who move while I-751 is pending, as they get denied without knowledge. USPS Informed delivery is also a must
  11. Especially for CR-1. SSN comes first in most cases when entering on CR-1 as far as I know.
  12. It's normal. You can get SSN even on a student or work visa. Getting GC and getting SSN are not related. Once you asked for SSN on I-485 form, the request is sent to SSA.
  13. Tip #1: Take your US citizen spouse to USCIS office Tip #2: Bring updated documentation proving bonafide marriage Tip #3: Give short, precise answers to the questions. Yes / No where you can. Do not volunter information. Tip #4: Be honest in everything you tell. Tip #5: Be ready to naturalize on the same day. At the same time, don't get dissapointed if you don't receive decision immediately.
  14. I don't know if it's a recent change or always been like this. I file taxes since 2017 and always had partial info on return transcripts.
  15. From page https://www.uscis.gov/forms/all-forms/n-600-application-for-certificate-of-citizenship-frequently-asked-questions: I already have a U.S. passport issued by the Department of State. Am I required to file a Form N-600 for a Certificate of Citizenship? No. You are not required to file a Form N-600 for a Certificate of Citizenship. The Certificate of Citizenship is an optional form. A validly issued U.S. passport generally serves as evidence of your U.S. citizenship during its period of validity unless that passport has been revoked by the Department of State. However, you may be required to submit your Certificate of Citizenship when attempting to apply for certain other benefits, including, but not limited to: Social Security benefits State issued ID including a Driver’s License or Learning Permit Financial Aid Employment Passport Renewal
  16. The reason why I recommend doing it within the next few years is because things tend to get lost over the time, including your wife's documentation. The more time passes, the more likely some documents will get lost. Also, you never know, maybe new requirements will be put in place or fees will increase.
  17. It does not require it per say. You can apply for daughter's US passport first. But it is a crucial piece of evidence. If I was you, I'd spend 1100 to get the certificate in the next year or two. The reason for that is simple. Sometime in the future, many years later, when renewing passport, your daughter may be asked for some additional proof of US citizenship. If you or your spouse are no longer around (we're all mortals unfortunately), your daughter may have difficulty gathering all your papers and documents to prove her citizebship. Additionally, this question about citizenship may come up if your daughter ever decides to sponsor a foreign spouse for Green Card. Those are just two common cases when this may come up. But I'm sure this can also come up if she decides to take up jobs in the US military / government / other agencies. The best thing is to spend the money, get the cetificate, make copies for yourself (cannot make copies and distribute, it's a crime) and store it in a safe place.
  18. I think this forum is for all AOS progress reports?
  19. All of my tax return transcripts show partial name, partial address and only last 4 digits of SSN. That's totally fine, used those for I-751 and prior to that for AOS without issue. You only need to submit the last 5 years. But make sure you answer questions about taxes truthfully.
  20. From online lawyer I heard the theory that the ones who waited a while to apply for N-400 may be subjected for extra checks, simply because of being a resident for a long time. E.g. checks for crimes, false claims to US citizenship etc. I'm not sure if it's true through.
  21. No, many people are getting it now, right after no estimate at all in the last few days. Those estimates are random anyways.
  22. To your question from another thread: This means all case numbers will be following a sequence, e.g. (not actual case numbers, to give idea): I-130 - XXXXXXX100 I-485 - XXXXXXX101 I-765 - XXXXXXX102 I-131 - XXXXXXX103 This would make tracking easier. Also, if you follow USCIS cases in online trackers, you'll notice USCIS sometimes approves / works actively on some blocks of cases and leaves out the other ones. I'd prefer for all of them to be reviewed together VS I-130 getting approved first and then crickets or I-485 being stuck because I-130 is not looked at. USCIS used to receive everything for AOS on paper. The times are changing, but you still may get more efficient processing by bundling it together. This is only an opinion. People file both ways.
  23. I strongly advice sending together. It reduces the chances of cases being "disconnected" from each other. You want the whole thing to be reviewed together ideally. You'll also get sequential numbers for I-130, I-485, I-131 and I-765
  24. What's the deadline for RFE?
