  1. I think the average American taxpayer would advise you to NOT bring your wife to the US if you want them to pay the price instead of yourself if the marriage fails. I think it is 100% reasonable for the petitioner to sign the affidavit of support.
  2. Everyone is hiring. Are you unemployed because nobody will hire you or are you unemployed because you are being too picky? I would swallow my pride and do whatever job I needed to do in order to be self-sufficient (let alone trying to support another human). And maybe consider moving to a cheaper state, you can get a job and be working in any grocery store in Arizona by the end of the week.
  3. Forgive me if I am misunderstanding, but it sounds like you want to have your case expedited so your spouse can come help support you financially?
  4. I have seen some conflicting information about what covid vaccines are acceptable for entry into the US. I have seen that Sinovac is on the list that the US recognizes but just want to find out if anyone here entered the US with it. My fiancé has already gotten the Sinovac for work a year and a half ago and neither of us are too keen on the idea of taking something else if she doesn't need to.
  5. Humans are stubbornly proud creatures. The deeper they dig into their positions, the harder it for them to admit they were wrong even in the face of actually doing physical harm to themselves. Any changes in thinking aren't likely to be made public, but when they are alone with their thoughts there is a lot of hand wringing. I have known plenty of people on both sides of the covid vaccination issue that have quietly confided in me at one point in time or another they questioned their thoughts on it. By the way, the term "anti-vaxxer" is the silliest thing I have ever heard and I cannot believe anyone with an ounce of intelligence would use it other than to try to make the other side look crazy. I have never met a single person in my life who hasn't had vaccinations for a multitude of things (tetanus, pneumococcal, flu, measles, mumps, polio, chicken pox and so on). But if you don't take this one particular vaccine you get some nonsensical label thrown on you, which I can only assume is an attempt to bully or shame people into taking it. It's like saying you are anti-dog because you don't own a golden retriever or anti-car if you don't own a Kia, it's moronic.
  6. The story below from Reuters on February 8th. If the Senate takes up this bill, which doesn't seem likely (elections have consequences) I don't have much faith in this happening, especially since the White House said it was opposed to this bill. WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. House of Representatives on Wednesday voted to end a requirement that most foreign air travelers be vaccinated against COVID-19, one of the few remaining pandemic travel restrictions still in place. The vote was 227 to 201 with seven Democrats joining Republicans. No Republicans voted against the bill. The Biden administration in June dropped its requirement that people arriving in the United States by air must test negative for COVID but has not lifted Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) vaccination requirements for most foreign travelers. The White House said Tuesday it was opposed to the bill saying the vaccine requirement "has allowed loved ones across the globe to reunite while reducing the spread of COVID-19 and the burdens it places on the health care system in the United States." It is not clear if the Senate will take up the bill. The White House plans to end the COVID public health emergency on May 11. "As we approach the end of the public health emergency, the administration will review all relevant policies, including this one," the White House said. The CDC says vaccines continue to be the most important public health tool for fighting COVID-19 and recommends all travelers be vaccinated. The U.S. Travel Association said "the need for this requirement has long since passed, and we appreciate the bipartisan action by the U.S. House to end this outdated policy ... The U.S. is the only country that has maintained this policy." Currently, adult visitors to the United States who are not citizens or permanent residents must show proof of vaccination before boarding their flight, with some limited exceptions. Republican Representative Thomas Massie introduced the measure to rescind the vaccine requirement. (Reporting by David Shepardson; Editing by Stephen Coates)
  7. I believe it's called the Covid emergency declaration, not the "vax" emergency declaration. Every article I've read on it so far just talks about how ending the declaration on May 11th (not March) would just mean that the covid vaccines will no longer be free of charge. I haven't heard any details about what else would be affected.
  8. I never focused on how many cases were done per week or per day, I chose to focus on VJ members who report their wait times from NOA1 to NOA2. I would only get excited if I saw the wait time decrease from 15 months to 14, 13 and so on. I would rather be surprised to have it done quicker than expected instead of being disappointed because I was being overly optimistic. It can hurt people to make them think it's coming sooner that it is.
  9. It's great to be optimistic and I certainly hope you all can get from NOA1 to NOA2 faster than the 15.5 months ours took. That being said, I think a lot of people are setting themselves up for some disappointment by thinking it's going to get much quicker than the 15.5 months anytime soon. There seems to be a lot of speculation about what the approval time could be rather that what they currently are. If it goes quicker than that, then great, but until you see new approvals coming in under the 15 month time frame I would try be patient.
  10. One of the many things I am most proud of is that I never cared about someone's celebrity status. Even if it is someone has actual talent or a backstory that I could appreciate, I never got into the being a "fan" of that person. The best stories come from the people around you in your everyday life, not from obnoxious morons the media force-feeds you. There are far more interesting people/stories here on VisaJourney.
  11. As long as the receipt number from the NOA1 matches the NOA2 I wouldn't be too concerned about it.
  12. Okay your timeline above is a little confusing. You said you got your approval on December 20th, 2021... Did you mean 2022? You said you received your NOA2 on December 27th or 28th, was that in 2022 just 3 weeks ago? If you meant you got those things in 2022, just a few weeks ago, well you worrying WAY too soon. You should expect to wait a couple of months, not a few weeks.
  13. Geez, who can afford to TP a house or egg a car any more?
  14. $5.19 a dozen here in the Phoenix Arizona area. I work for a national grocery chain and before this last year we regularly had them on sale for around 99 cents a dozen. It's getting so bad here that last month I had customers asking me if they could just buy 2 or 3 eggs instead of a dozen.
  15. Sounds to me like we aren't going to get an update about it arriving/processed at/leaving NVC at all. I am expecting that the next update we are going to get is when our case is at the embassy/consulate.
  16. Could it be that the reason the shooter left the scene and disappeared is because he knew there would be people ready and willing to lock him up and throw away the key because he used a gun? There are those who want to criminalize people who defend themselves with a gun in their own homes, so of course he decided to leave and contact a lawyer, who has since been in a negotiation with police about investigating the incident. It does not matter that it wasn't a real gun, it's extremely difficult to tell in the heat of the moment. The moron wasn't killed by the customer, he was killed by his own stupidity. I've searched and searched and have yet to see the identity of the robber. My guess is this wasn't his first rodeo and it was only a matter of time before his bad behavior caught up with him. Truth be told, society has rubber stamped his bad behavior by even questioning the right of the average citizen to defend themselves.
  17. The first few shots I have no issue with, the last few (and the final shot) were unnecessary. That being said, some idiot just pointed a gun at you, so I can see where adrenaline is going to kick in from a life-threatening situation and cause the customer to take it a little further than he needed to. NONE of this would have happened if the robber hadn't threatened the lives of people in the restaurant. The fault lies entirely on the robber, the customer should not be charged.
  18. When we started ours in July 2021 the processing time was 8 months, it got extended every couple of months and we eventually got our NOA2 after 14.5 months (nearly double the initial estimate). It was brutal to watch the timeline move further away from the original estimate. For every 2 steps forward you took one step back. Hopefully at some point the trend starts going quicker rather than slower for you guys.
  19. Agencies want your money, they will tell you what you want to hear in order to get your business.
  20. What I don't want for Christmas? A tie
  21. I have to compliment you on your English language skills considering English isn't your first language. You speak better than most who have English as their first/only language. Good luck to you.
  22. found this online How To Read An NVC Case Number (thelawdictionary.org) The basic NVC case number consists of 13 alphanumeric characters. The first three places are reserved for alphas (letters) identifying the overseas embassy or consulate that received the original immigrant visa application. Some visas are issued according to quotas set for each country. The next 10 digits of the NVC are numbers that have been coded from the standard Julian calendar. The first four numbers are the year for the application (i.e. 1998). The next three numbers represent the date based on the following formula: Date + 500 (i.e. January 1st would be 001 + 500 = 501). The final number identifies the order of that application for that day (i.e. 4th application = 004.) and this here explains it a little better I think. How to Read an NVC Case Number | Legal Beagle NVC Case Numbers for Immigrants The case number for your immigrant visa is a 13-digit number comprised of four parts. The number displays as EEEYYYYOOOSSS. EEE is related to the U.S. embassy or consulate that will process your visa. For example, if you are arriving from New Delhi, the first three letters would be NWD. YYYY is the year that the case was received by the NVC. The calendar that the NVC runs is from January to December, not the fiscal year of October to September. OOO is the Julian date (ordinal date, plus 500), and SSS is the sequence number for the day.
