All taxpayers are forced to pay for things that they may not want to support or will ever use themselves, that's just the nature of taxes. Each of us will have very different ideas of what we'll want our taxes to pay for, and we'll all have different priorities.

I think we'll just have to agree to disagree on what should be a priority for us personally. 😊

But you personally wish to decide what we are forced to pay for.

I have no problem helping people who need help through private charities. Forcing people to give money is not charity, it's theft.

What a great idea. I'd happily donate to help people get out of such horrendous situations, if they're asylum seekers who've lost everything in a war zone they're hardly going to have the money for a flight.

Donate? Why not commit yourself to fully financially supporting an asylum seeker just as you would sponsoring someone for a K1 or the like? Anyone who wishes to take on that responsibility themselves is fine by me, but just dropping a small token donation and expecting the American taxpayer to cover the bulk is ridiculous, especially with the cost of living as it is.

Separate thread for Carlson, see man.

Hopefully, he'll eventually set up his own thang.  Being a network employee limits income and speech freedom.

There is a certain level of popularity these days that it makes no sense to work for someone else. Megan Kelly, O'Reilly, Glenn Beck and others have successfully gone on to do their own thing and they make all of the money and have none of the restrictions of a corporation or a boss on them. I would argue that Tucker is starting at a higher point in his career than those others. But obviously before he does his own thing he and FOX are going to have to come to some sort of financial settlement, which I can only assume will be quite large.

Folks, some truly excellent discussion in this thread.  We have another thread or two for trans/gay/etc.; might we keep this thread centered on corporate wokeness?  Gracias.

Advertising tells me that corporate wokeness and trans/gay and "everyone is a racist" ideology fueled by ESG are skipping hand in hand down the yellow brick road, they are inextricably tied together.

But I will comply with your request. 😁

  5. I will say this. The left, democrats, progressives, whatever label they want to attach themselves to aren't afraid of anyone on the opposite side of the political spectrum. They are FAR more fearful of people on their own side because if you stray off the narrative on any subject you will be cancelled, eaten by your own. That is why you never see anyone on that side call out the perversion you see at some of these drag queen events involving men doing burlesque performances in front of small children. In this world of tribal politics there is no room for diversity of thought in their tribe, you are all in or you are cancelled, and that cancellation is more unthinkable to them than anything that will happen to Budweiser.

    Obviously they are in favour

Now if someone suggested castrating rapists they would have a melt down but ok for children

I saw a video of a drag queen story hour last year. There was a fat man in a wig and full makeup wearing pantyhose in the video. He lay face up on the floor and had several 4-5 year old children straddle his torso while he said "wiggle wiggle wiggle". This wasn't harmless entertainment for children, this was parents handing over their children to a pervert and thinking to themselves how open minded and progressive they are.

You don't know the person, so you don't know what their public and private persona is. All you see is what you see in public. Gay and trans people do not mock me or my femineity. They do not threaten my existence or my happiness as a person. If they do to you and others, that might be something to seek help about.

He is essentially wearing blackface. Acting like a cartoon character of a pre-teen girl and dressing up like Audrey Hepburn is nothing more than cosplay. Hair, makeup, dresses and acting silly aren't things that make a woman a woman (or a girl as he likes to pretend).

Also, who said anything about gay people? What does this have to do with gay people?

What gets to the heart of things to me is why are people so offended that someone different from them eats and drinks the same things they do?

It has nothing to do with someone different eating or drinking the same thing as you do. It has everything to do with someone making a mockery of women and being rewarded for it. Actually, the person never calls himself a woman, he says he is on his journey into "girlhood", which quite frankly is a little creepy. Personally, I have never seen or met a female of ANY age who acts like this man does outside of someone doing a skit about an outrageously silly pre-teen female that nobody has ever seen the likes of. He is doing an Al Jolson style blackface routine.

    Hi there,

My fiancé & I received our ready status from the NVC back on March 15th, 2023. Things seem to be a bit unclear, but it seems as if we need to wait to hear back from the embassy before we can schedule our interview. I reached out to the embassy a few days ago & was told that the case was still in transit from the NVC to the embassy in Manila. Has anyone been through the process recently & can give some insight as to how long it typically takes for the physical files to get to the embassy in Manila? I think the general FAQs indicate a 4-6 week window but I've seen some folks having their cases to Manila in less than a week. In hopes of getting a jump on the process, we've already completed her DS-160, paid the MRV fee & she is currently in Manila for her medical exam today & tomorrow. We currently also have scheduled our appointment for the next available slot of June 8th, 2023 with hopes that once we complete our medical exam that we can potentially grab any interview openings that pop up before June 8th. When I contacted that embassy, they did indicate that they could not conduct the interview until the physical files were delivered to the embassy, so right now we're really just waiting on that to happen.

Any insight or information would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

Don't forget the CFO requirement, it is causing about a 2 month delay in my fiance getting here. Some will tell you you need the visa in hand before your CFO appointment but that is not true. Do the CFO appointment, when you get your visa in hand you can take it down and show it to them and they will give you the certificate of completion. My fiance got her visa in hand on 3/23/23 but the earliest available CFO appointment was 2 months later on 5/22. She would be here by now if it wasn't for the delay.

  10. So what you seem to want is to file a K1, have her go ahead and come to the US, get married to her so you can live together. Then while you are ALREADY married and she is in the US you want to wait out the time until your K1 is approved. What is the point of the process if you are just trying to circumvent the process?

I do not think this works the way you seem to want it to work.

Hi guys! New-ish member, but I finally filed my K1 packet!! This was after spending 1 month in the Philippines with my fiance. We have been dating online since Aug '21, but were only this past Feb '23 able to meet in person. We spent the entire month together (Feb 1 - Mar 2) and I proposed on Feb 11th. This should be sufficient time together in-person to satisfy the "Meet once in the past two years" stipulation, correct? I want to go back there just so we can spend more time together, but I'm disabled and the long flights played havoc on my body twice already, I'm not sure I could physically handle another trip so soon. I followed all of the guides here on VJ as well as from the USCIS website, but I've been seeing forum posts about "Meeting only once" and was curious if my situation would be similar to the replies they've gotten (although the other posts are usually just for a few days in-person, not an entire month.)

So, my fellow visa journey participants... what's the prognosis? TIA!

TL;DR: Been dating online for a few years, spent an entire month together in person... is that enough to satisfy the requirements?

Just keep collecting evidence while you wait for the NOA2. Save every receipt for any money remittances, screenshots of chat messages (the embassy staff actually looked at that), call logs etc., just save everything that proves ongoing communication. Have her get a file folder and start organizing documents so that when the time comes she will have everything available and easy to find for the medical, interview and CFO appointments. You have plenty of time, have her start collecting immunization records, she will need those if they are available otherwise she will be given those shots again at her medical. We met in person twice pre-pandemic and not since. They did ask why we haven't met since and she said "because of covid travel restrictions" and they accepted that answer at her interview.

    My 2 cents...

Before filing our I-129F, my fiancee and I met only once (for 42 days), have a 20+ year gap, and showed a relationship for six months prior to the physical meeting.

We received NOA2 last month after waiting 400+ days.

I have visited her another five times and and we have accrued substantial additional relationship evidence.

We also submitted letters of relationship support from both families with the I-129F.

Of course, your mileage may vary.

    Best of luck.

We had 2 in person meetings 2 weeks each time. Covid hit immediately after our second in person meeting and after a long time (18 months) waiting for travel to open back up we decided to file the K1. You seem to have more time together that we had with a similar age difference and she got her visa last month with no problems or extra scrutiny.

you're all misunderstanding, we don't wanna waste more time before getting together , we just wanna live together, if possible through k1 visa why waste time planning temporary trips before filing the k1

Okay this isn't like test driving a car for 18 months before deciding to buy. You need to prove the validity of the relationship beforehand. You are 100% allowed to live together, but that's going to have be done in their country or a third country.

  14. My grandfather who was the nicest guy you could ever meet had a small farm in Alabama a long time ago. He mostly grew corn, watermelon, green beans and some greens but he did raise a few animals. He would raise about 8 to 10 pigs and he built a smokehouse out back, but when it came time to take them to the slaughterhouse he could not bring himself to do it. He had the bad habit of naming each and every animal on his farm, which led him get attached to them more like pets. His solution was that when it came time to take them to the slaughterhouse, he would trade his pigs to the farmer down the road and that farmer would give him the meat from their pigs in return. Even after a lifetime of farming he never got used to the idea of eating the animals he raised.
