  1. Yee-HAAAAA! Yes, parts of this experience can be traumatic, but it's done. Better times are ahead. Edited to add: Thank you for so diligently updating your timeline and writing your consular review. If everyone did this to your standard, the site would benefit.
  2. 1. "Marry in haste, repent in leisure." Be sure that you truly know the person. 2. On the other hand, CR-1 lends more authority to the process, all considered. 3. On the third hand, if the beneficiary is somehow ineligible for the visa, you'd either have to move to their/a third country or reconsider the status of the marriage.
  3. It's usually better to request through one or the other, to avoid double inquiries. However, no one will blame you at all if you ask both.
  4. If it's not specifically precluded, assume that it's permitted. Consider Babu Frik's cautions about it.
  5. All else equal, he should definitely bring the original to present to CBP, if he tries to return.
  6. Workarounds have been mentioned in other threads, if I recall, but I can't locate the information. Someone will be along to answer.

  8. This is a fascinating and positive interview. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We Secured the Border—but 'We're Not Done Yet' Few government agencies have been involved as deeply with the priorities of the Trump administration as U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), which handles not only border security but also tariffs and trade regulations. CBP's Commissioner Rodney Scott sat down with The American Conservative to discuss how the agency is approaching these priorities and what Americans should know about our country's borders. 9. These clowns really are scraping the bottom to gripe about something that costs them nothing. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Left's Trump Derangement Syndrome Escalates With Meltdown Over White House Expansion The White House is adding a ballroom and it's basically the end of the world. That's been the media message the last few days as the Left has been in near hysterics about a much-needed expansion to the president's mansion. I guess the government shutdown isn't going quite as well as they thought. "'It's your house. And he's destroying it': Trump demolishes White House East Wing," reads a headline from Politico. "Trump is destroying the entire White House East Wing to feed his ego," reads another headline on MSNBC. This is, truly, one of the dumbest media-concocted "scandals" of the Trump era. And that's saying a lot. If the legacy media headlines are to be believed, Trump is demolishing the White House in a brazen act of diabolical demolition. 16. A long and good life. See the 2-minute clip from the Rosanne show. Who remembers "Lassie" and "Lost in Space"? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ June Lockhart, 'TV Mom' From Lost in Space, NASA Supporter, Dead at 100 Although actress June Lockhart may have left the rest of us down here on Earth, it's fitting that she's now soaring among the stars. 19. Introducing the City Journal College Rankings Higher education is in crisis. Once considered a pinnacle of American achievement, our universities today face a historic deficit of public confidence, driven by the perception (and reality) that academia has prized political activism over truth-seeking. With pressure mounting from students, parents, alumni, and policymakers, now is a time of great uncertainty for the American university—yet also an opportunity for experimentation, innovation, and reform. Some elite universities seem bent on discrediting themselves; others stand out for their efforts to enact meaningful change. In a telling trend, a growing number of students now flock to Southern universities, many of which, unlike their Ivy League counterparts, have preserved or expanded their commitments to open inquiry, intellectual pluralism, and critical thinking. Yet too many Americans remain guided by the old markers of prestige. The brightest students often assume by default that the best education will come from a Harvard, Yale, or Stanford. These same institutions continue to exert disproportionate cultural and professional influence. These legacy elite schools remain well-positioned primarily because everyone sees them as the best, not because they are actually providing the best undergraduate education. In other words, we find, at present, a mismatch between reputation and reality. This is due, in part, to the fact that prospective students and parents lack access to the information they need to determine which school is best for them. As Americans rethink higher education, they need new tools to help them make better decisions. [...] https://www.city-journal.org/article/2025-college-rankings?skip=1 City Journal 2025 College Rankings What's the best college for you? Unfortunately, existing college rankings don't provide a full picture of the schools you're considering. College shapes a student's mind and character—for better or for worse. It forms the person you become. It educates—or miseducates. Yet rankings typically focus on factors that say little about how a school will influence your future. They tell you almost nothing about the content of the education, the campus environment, or the institution's core values. With higher education in crisis, you need the most relevant information in order to choose the right college. Welcome to the City Journal College Rankings, a holistic assessment of 100 prominent colleges in the United States, analyzing far more factors than the established evaluation tools consider.
