Trump Appointees & Nominees
TBoneTX replied to Crazy Cat's topic in Current Events and Hot Social Topics
Good news in yet another fine article by my favorite political writer. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 'It's Marco vs. the Deep State': Trump Administration to Overhaul National Security Council The next bastion of the Deep State to get targeted for its bureaucratic bloat is the National Security Council, and this battle is not starting a moment too soon. The NSC is a hornet's nest of appeasers, advocates for endless wars, and far-leftists who despise President Trump and his administration, think they know better how to conduct foreign policy despite their ever-lengthening string of failures, and will do everything they can to undermine what Trump tries to do. But now, enter Marco Rubio. Fox News reported Friday that Trump and Rubio "are continuing to overhaul the National Security Council and shift its main functions to other agencies like the State and Defense departments." Former National Security Advisor Mike Waltz started the ball rolling when “he ordered 160 NSC staffers off the job pending a comprehensive review of the agency's alignment with Trump's agenda." Now, as Waltz moves on to become UN ambassador in the wake of the Signal kerfuffle, the resistance against the Deep State at the NSC will continue. The left will, of course, howl yet again about Trump's fascism, but [...] https://pjmedia.com/robert-spencer/2025/05/24/its-marco-vs-the-deep-state-trump-administration-to-overhaul-national-security-council-n4940114 -
Daily Update on Biden Tanking America (Part 2)
TBoneTX replied to TBoneTX's topic in Current Events and Hot Social Topics
Joe Biden's $93 Billion Scandal That No One's Talking About Yet During a blistering Senate Appropriations Committee hearing, Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) was visibly floored after Energy Secretary Christopher Wright dropped a bombshell: the Department of Energy handed out a staggering $93 billion in loans and commitments during the final 76 days of the Biden administration, a figure that more than doubled the loan total from the previous 15 years combined. Kennedy, in classic fashion, drilled in with precision. "The 76-day period you're talking about, that's the period between the time that President Trump was elected and President Biden left office. Is that right?" "That is correct," Wright confirmed. Kennedy didn't mince words when he asked how any agency could properly vet such massive spending in such a short window. 'How do you do due diligence on one loan, much less $93 billion?" he asked. Wright's answer was damning. "I think it's probably pretty clear it wasn't done in many cases," he said. "There were commitments made from businesses that provided no business plan, no numbers about their own financial solvency, or how this project actually worked." The senator appeared almost incredulous and asked for clarity: "So, so you're telling me that the Department of Energy in the 76-day period before their boss was gonna leave office, gave or loaned money to, to entities that had no business plan?" "Correct," Wright replied bluntly. [...] https://pjmedia.com/matt-margolis/2025/05/23/joe-bidens-93-billion-scandal-that-no-ones-talking-about-yet-n4940098 -
We probably suspected something liks this, but the reality is shocking. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Bidenization of the Dems: The Last EIGHT House Members to Die in Office Were ALL Democrats! In federal politics, seniority is power. The top committees and most coveted positions aren't assigned via merit, but longevity. If you want to be a bigshot in Congress, all you've gotta do is keep on getting reelected and avoid the Grim Reaper. The first hurdle is easy to cross: in 2024, 97% of congressional incumbents who ran for reelection were winners. With all the perks of incumbency, it's practically a slam-dunk. The second hurdle? Not so much. Three days ago, Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-Va.) died of cancer at age 75. He was the third congressman to die in office since Jan. 2025. All three were Democrats. Since April of 2024, six congressmen have died in office. All six were Democrats. In fact, if you go all the way back to 2022, the last EIGHT congressmen who died in office were all Democrats. One of the greatest stories ever! Reports from the mainstream media: <crickets> ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Trump makes deal of a lifetime for US Steel WEST MIFFLIN, Pennsylvania — Local steelworkers, community leaders, and economic experts said President Donald Trump's announcement Friday that a deal was struck between U.S. Steel and Nippon Steel will go down in American history as the most enduring economic "big, beautiful deal" the 47th president has made. It is a deal robustly supported by the rank-and-file steelworkers from the three plants that make up the Mon Valley Works. The deal is believed to reverse the decline of steel that began under President Jimmy Carter in the 1970s. "I am proud to announce that, after much consideration and negotiation, U.S. Steel will REMAIN in America and keep its headquarters in the Great City of Pittsburgh," said Trump, who had been engaged in intense negotiations over a sale between the iconic American company and Nippon Steel. "This will be a planned partnership between United States Steel and Nippon Steel…and the largest investment in the history of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania," he said. This is possibly the most horrific story that I've ever read. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Brownsville man who decapitated three children cannot appeal adverse ruling A 44-year-old Brownsville man who committed one of Cameron County's most horrific crimes cannot appeal a federal judge's denial of his request for habeas relief. The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals denied John Allen Rubio's request for a certificate of appealability following the March 2024 denial of his request for habeas relief. That order also denied Rubio's ability to appeal. Rubio, who is on Death Row, asked the higher appellate court to allow him to appeal. On Wednesday, in an order that called his crime "especially harrowing," that court denied Rubio's request. A jury convicted Rubio in 2010 of beheading Julissa Quesada, 3, John E. Rubio, 14 months, and Mary Jane Rubio, 2 months. Quesada and John E. Rubio were the children of the man's common-law wife, Angela Camacho. He was the father of Mary Jane Rubio. Camacho is serving life in prison for her role in the murder. [...] https://myrgv.com/local-news/2025/05/23/brownsville-man-who-decapitated-three-children-cannot-appeal-adverse-ruling/

Very readable article about Disney hosing itself. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Rot at Disney Goes Deep Toward the end of the Great Depression, many Americans looked to Hollywood with a keen sense of anticipation. Walt Disney, who had exploded onto the movie scene a few years earlier with his delightful Mickey Mouse and Silly Symphony animated shorts, had launched a new project, something never attempted that many industry veterans deemed foolhardy: a feature-length animated film. Convinced that animation was suited only to brief bursts of comedy and could never hold an audience for 90 minutes, they deemed it "Disney's Folly." But when Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs premiered on Dec. 21, 1937, it proved the naysayers wrong. The movie was an enormous success as audiences cheered and the critics swooned. It went on to become one of the most popular and profitable films in movie history, as well as the Disney Studio's most cherished creative artifact for many decades. Fast forward 90 years. Welcome to the forum, and thanks for your intelligent questions. The CR-1 visa is superior to the K-1. See the comparison, as compiled by our fine member Crazy Cat: K-1 More expensive than CR-1 Requires Adjustment of Status after marriage (expensive and requires a lot of paperwork) Spouse can not leave the US until she/he receives approved Advance Parole (approx 6-8 months) Spouse can not work until she/he receives EAD (approx 6-8 months) Some people have had problems with driver licenses, Social Security cards, leases, bank account during this period Spouse will not receive Green Card for many months after Adjustment of Status is filed. A K-1 might be a better choice when 18-21 year old children are immigrating also In some situations, marriage can affect certain Home country benefits, making a K-1 a better choice A denied K-1 is sent back to USCIS to expire CR-1 Less expensive than K-1. No Adjustment of Status (I-485, I-131, I-765) required. Spouse can immediately travel outside the US. Spouse is authorized to work immediately upon arrival. Spouse receives Social Security Card and Green Card within 2 or 3 weeks after entering the US. Opening a bank account, getting a driver's license, etc. are very easily accomplished with GC, SS card, and passport. Spouse has legal Permanent Resident status IMMEDIATELY upon entry to US. --- The challenge would be subsequent time spent outside the U.S. in terms of maintaining her resident status. The above visas are for immigrating, not essentially visiting for short periods during the year. Others here will be along to discuss this and other issues in depth.

You might want to telephone (or personally visit) a CBP office and ask how this process works. You'd have the chance to speak with a shift supervisor, if you so requested. Tell them what your questions are and the reason you're asking.
