  3. Cats Basically Are a Liquid After All, Study Confirms If you've ever lived with a cat, you've seen the way they ooze and spill and flow, like a small ambulatory fur puddle. Not only do we think of cats as liquid objects, they smugly seem to know it too. Science has now effectively proven it: when faced with a series of progressively smaller openings, cats are able to pour their way through, much like a liquid, hesitating when the opening is too small for comfort. It suggests that as well as displaying some of the properties of fluids, cats also possess a measure of self-awareness about their own size. 5. Three reasons you should make your cat work for their food, according to a feline behaviorist Are you having trouble with your cat’s behavior? Sometimes, it can seem as though cats simply do what they want. But, while cats can certainly be quite independent and enjoy doing their own thing, we can get to the point where our cats are showing behavioral issues that need to be addressed for the safety of everyone in the home. So, what can you do? Well, a solution might just involve [...] https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/three-reasons-cat-food-according-100010016.html

Study Confirms a Simple Trick to Communicate With Your Cat Cats have a reputation for aloofness (and flooffiness), but if you and your feline friend aren't bonding, maybe you're just not speaking their language. 8. Zoo Gorilla Looks Bored Out Of Mind Reading 'Wuthering Heights' CHICAGO—Observing the 300-pound captive ape from the other side of his enclosure, Lincoln Park Zoo guests expressed empathy this week for western lowland gorilla Nzinga, who looked bored out of his mind reading Wuthering Heights. Concerned visitors reported seeing the 26-year-old silverback resting his head on his hairy fist as he stared down at the pages of the classic tale about social class, passion, and revenge, which, with the exception of a few plants and rocks, was seemingly the only enrichment item within the exhibit at his disposal. According to sources, Nzinga's posture slumped lower and lower throughout the afternoon as he plodded through the turgid prose of the 1847 gothic novel by Emily Brontë. "Poor thing. Imagine being forced to sit in a cage all day with nothing to do but read about Heathcliff pacing around a mansion and growing bitter with resentment through the years," said 43-year-old Elmhurst, IL resident Angela Kreusler, who sighed and shook her head as she watched the great ape fidget with the corner of a page. Their brilliant solution? Bring back casual Fridays. Harris Complains She Was Not Informed The Interview Would Include Questions [...] According to Harris, the interview constituted an ambush unlike any she has ever faced in her legal or political career. "Holistically speaking, me and my team, we were holistically not informed that this interview would include questions," Harris said as several journalists from ABC gave her a back massage and worked on editing her next interview. "It's absolutely terrible. Even CNN at least gave us the questions holistically in advance. 11. Washington Post Gives Entire Staff Day Off To Mourn Loss Of Hamas Leader WASHINGTON, D.C. — Teary-eyed sources at the Washington Post have just confirmed that the paper's entire staff has just been given the day off to mourn the loss of the Hamas leader who masterminded the Oct. 7 attacks in 2023. According to mid-level WaPo editors who spoke under condition of anonymity, all of the staffers, writers, and editors had managed to drag themselves into work but were simply too dispirited to do anything more than a few half-hearted tweets critical of Trump and JD Vance. "People were crying everywhere," said one WaPo writer. [...] https://babylonbee.com/news/washington-post-gives-entire-staff-day-off-to-mourn-loss-of-hamas-leader

  13. Yahya Sinwar's killing has left Hamas in disarray Almost exactly a year after Hamas's horrific attack on Israel, its leader Yahya Sinwar has been killed. This is not the end of Hamas, but it does offer Israel an opportunity to destabilise and fragment the group, similar to what Israel has done to Hezbollah — to cut the Islamists down to a more manageable size and bring the war to a conclusion on terms reasonably close to victory. As I wrote in these pages a couple of months ago, it is not quite right to [...] https://unherd.com/newsroom/yahya-sinwars-death-has-left-hamas-in-disarray/
  14. Sobering. ~~~~~~~~~ If Kamala Harris Wins Sometimes "What if?" questions are merely counterfactual academic exercises. Sometimes, however, they are existential conundrums. The question, "What if Kamala Harris wins the 2024 presidential election?" belongs firmly in the latter category. As I have noted elsewhere, I believe Donald Trump will not only win, but win resoundingly. All the same, the huge influx of illegal immigrants, strategically managed by Biden and Harris to be maximally advantageous, combined with the disastrous state of our voter rolls, might mean even if Trump wins, he doesn't end up in the Oval Office. So: what if? Imagine you are a mini-Rip Van Winkle. You sink into a deep slumber on November 4 and do not awaken until, say, December 2026. You won't have missed the original American Revolution, as the first Rip did. But you will have missed another revolution that undid many aspects of the first. 15. This first-person account brims with urgency. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ My Colorado home became a Tren de Aragua war zone — yours could be next I never thought that I would fear for my life in my own home until it happened this year. In 2023, I began to notice significant changes in my apartment complex in Aurora, Colo., less than 20 miles from the sanctuary city of Denver. Local media have since reported that officials began busing illegal Venezuelan migrants into the area in December 2022 — but no one told us. Members of Tren de Aragua — a vicious Venezuelan prison gang that has brought sex trafficking and violent crime into communities across our country — began patrolling my apartment building with guns, beating down doors and demanding keys from my neighbors. 18. Another good article. May he enjoy his 72 virgins as much as we enjoy his trip to Paradise. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ For a year the IDF hunted Sinwar in tunnels – then troops ran into him by chance After a year hunting its most wanted target in Hamas's tunnels beneath Gaza, it appears Israel claimed its quarry during a chance encounter in the ruined streets of the coastal strip. When Israeli troops saw Hamas fighters enter a building in Rafah, they had no reason to suspect one of them was their country's most wanted man. For months, a specialist elite taskforce had been seeking the terrorist leader behind the Oct 7 attacks and he was widely thought to be hidden deep beneath the ground. The troops called for a tank to fire into the building, causing much of it to collapse, Israel's Channel 12 reported. It was only when afterwards soldiers found three bodies in the rubble, that they were struck by how familiar one dead man seemed. The dead middle-aged man, wearing a military-style vest and lying half submerged beneath debris with the front of his head smashed in, had a familiar looking mole next to his left eye, troops noticed. Troops entering the building decided he looked "very much like" Yahya Sinwar, the Hamas leader considered the architect of last year's Oct 7 attack against Israel. Prising open his lips with a piece of wood, troops also believed that his worn and chipped teeth matched photos of the Hamas leader's mouth.
