People can easily tell you not to worry when they aren't in your shoes, but I get it. My now wife came here from Poland on K1 as well (now going through AOS). It is horrifying for us to think about too much, but none of us can say for certain what will happen. I wish I had something more hopeful to share.

Please don’t trivialize the concerns, they are real.

Yes, these issues are not directly related and there is no immediate effect on same sex couples. But it is not unreasonable for someone to be concerned with what this may signal could be coming in the future. Even for those of us who are no longer working on getting our spouse into the US (my husband got his citizenship last year) there are concerns over what might happen if some of these decisions are overturned.

Hey all,
The recent Supreme Court ruling on Roe v Wade definitely brought in new concerns for same-sex couples in the US, with Clarence Thomas stating he feels Obergefell should be revisited.
I'm currently a few months into waiting for the second stage of the K1 process with my wonderful same-sex partner, but the entire path to immigration and to getting a green card will still take years.
How safe are we? Is it even possible to theorize about what could go wrong here?
Thanks for all the answers

Now that COVID is officially over, is this still a thing? Are only mRNA gene therapy injections accepted, or can a traditional vaccine suffice?

So why did you need an I-693? Most I-485 cases from K-1 do not.

xxlian reacted to Bobio in What's the point of doing things legally?
I married my best friend in November in Guatemala. She is my everything, my soulmate, my partner for life. She cries every night that I'm here and she's there, despite the fact that I am able to visit every other month for 3 or 4 days (we spent our 1st Christmas together as husband and wife and it was amazing, but saying goodbye SUCKED!) We haven't filed anything yet though because it's sooo overwhelming and seeing hundreds of thousands of illegals crossing the border every month, we're wondering what's the point of doing things the "legal" way if there's literally no penalty for just crossing over? The democrats have made a mockery of our immigration system so why would anyone wait 2 years to be with your significant other if you can shell out $$$ to have your spouse by your side every day within a month? Honest question. I'm usually the most happy go lucky upbeat guy, but this is heartbreaking. Let's have an honest conversation. Thanks

I saw on our USCIS account that an RFIE was sent for my (the petitioner's) birth certificate. I thought I had submitted it already, but that should be an easy fix. The biometrics appointment is Friday.

xxlian reacted to shexy in MY IMMIGRATION JOURNEY IS FINALLY OVER
First, I want to say thank you to everyone on the forum, you all are the best. I had my N400 /I-751 interview on Thursday at Philadelphia and was given a recommendation for approval notice. This morning my I-751 changed to approved and this evening my N400 changed to oath ceremony notice was mailed. When I checked my online portal, my ceremony is coming on the 16th of this month. finally the stress is over. I still can't believe how fast it went. 🙏

xxlian reacted to Gail and Derrick in Has Anyone Actually Been Deported on K1 For Unofficial Wedding Ceremony?
I'm not going to name names but there is someone who's been pretty active here on VJ in the last few weeks asking the exact same questions that then get posted on Reddit (across 2 accounts because mods kept deleting the posts). And this question and the demand for proof of deportation was made by a Reddit user who'd been asking the exact same questions (phrased in exactly the same way) about other issues around AP, POE, etc. It's just far too coincidental especially given the nature of the topics. My assumption was that this "new account" on VJ was an attempt to ask this and not have it tied to the primary account. Exegesis for the win.

Did you not like the responses you were getting on Reddit about this? Several people answered you there, but here's the thing, just because you don't like the answers you got doesn't mean they were giving you incorrect information. You'll get the same info here. And asking across multiple VJ and Reddit accounts doesn't change the facts either. You got rather argumentative over there. Please don't do that here.
