Example of booking flight from NY to Paris on United:

I'm always curious when people say "I booked flights on US passport" or similar. I see no passport information on booking. Only when you check in online. Which doesn't work well when you're a dual citizen. You check in at the airport with the passport giving you access to destination and that's it. Maybe I'm missing something.

You are right, i just checked Expedia too - while it requires to enter the country your passport belongs to, it doesn’t require to enter the passport number:

Now we buy almost all tickets in the name on her US passport the exception being domestic flights inside of Russia.  The only concern comes when she is checking into a flight to Russia (last time was in Dubai), she has to show both passports so they know she has documentation to enter Russia, but no one has batted an eye so far about the name difference.

Interesting, thank you! I just changed my last name as well (in US only), so this is very helpful!

When my wife flies back home, she actually presents both of her passports.  The US passport to comply with the leaving rule, and the Russian passport to show she has a valid entry document for Russia.

May I ask which passport information your wife uses when she buys tickets to exit the US? While showing both makes the most sense, which passport info are tickets usually booked with? I am having a dilemma about future travels now that I have both citizenships - Russia and US

Mine has that "Certificate Of Naturalization Was Issued" case status but it also has a little notation at the top that says "Case Closed." Seeing that Case Closed is very rewarding lol. Congrats on naturalizing! It's the best! 😀

I didn’t even notice the notation until i read your comment. I see it now, what a relief! Congrats to you as well! 🤗

The last one you can see is “case was reopened after approval”

    😂

That’s the most terrifying one haha!
I think a status update is what calms my nerves down, knowing that they have updated everything on their end for sure. Logically it doesn’t make sense, but emotionally can’t help but always worry with USCIS! 😄

  6. I know this is a very weird/silly question, but while dealing with USCIS over the years, I got used to checking and ‘depending’ on the online case status. I have a case tracker app and refreshing the page became a habit to me.
Today I finally took the oath and became a US citizen. I am very happy that this journey is over and my naturalization certificate is in my hands! But I was wondering, what happens with our online status once the ceremony is over? Are we supposed to receive a ‘final’ case status update, telling us the certificate was issued or does it just stay at ‘ceremony notice was mailed’? Just curious.

  7. Just wanted to give my update, it might be helpful to someone.
    I filed I-751 in September 2019

    I then filed N-400 in July 2022

Just had my combo interview on 17th of January. Both applications approved, the ceremony is next week. I-751 was originally sent to Potomac, then it got transferred to NBC and later Jacksonville, FL where the interview was held. Overall, almost 2,5 years of waiting for I-751 and 7 months for N-400!

  8. And it’s done! The interview was today and i got approved. I am from July thread, however i see people from Jacksonville in this one so i wanted to update those who are still waiting.
It was not a same-day oath ceremony, they scheduled mine for Jan 25th. My I-751 was also processed (approved) today, however, when i check the status of both applications, only N-400 shows updates (the most recent one - oath ceremony notice was mailed). I hope that’s normal?

  9. Good evening,

Long story short - my ex stole my identity after our divorce and filed taxes using my SSN as if we were still married. I fixed it and IRS allowed me to file a completely new return without amending it. It came with due tax (i’m self-employed), so I requested to have a payment plan to pay it off. The process lasted for over a year and my payment plan never ended up processing. Whether it is due to covid backlog or other issues, i am yet to get my installments to kick off.

So, instead of waiting, i’ve been paying it off myself and i have finally finished all my payments today. The problem is that i made my last 2 payments after Dec 23, and in case you don’t know - IRS website has been under maintenance which doesn’t let us get our accurate balance. Same goes for payments - they show up pending, not posted and will be until the week of Jan 23rd. Well, my interview is tomorrow. I am planning to bring printed out screenshots of payments, letters from IRS agreeing to the installment plan, account transcript of the tax year.. what else? Will this be a problem that the final payments show up ‘pending’? It’s hard to prove that the balance is paid off when it doesn’t reflect on their website. Any suggestions are appreciated!

  10. I’m back with an update. Today i was supposed to have my ‘first’ interview, so I showed up at the office. After an hour of keeping me in the waiting room, the supervisor came out, apologized to me and said that they will indeed hold a combo interview on the 17th instead of today. She mentioned that they are still going through the Covid backlog and if they had an available officer for me today they would have helped me out. So, i am coming back next week 😁 Hopefully for my LAST interview ever!

I am glad i showed up today no matter what. I gained the clarity i needed and now i know for sure what to expect next week. Thank you everyone for your advice!

No explanation at all. I only realized because I randomly logged into my USCIS account, I did not receive an email with the de-scheduling of the original interview and the re-scheduling of the new one. Best of luck tomorrow or on the 17th!

So, they rescheduled mine for the 17th. I drove there for nothing today basically 😕 but my journey is nearing the end so i will keep everyone posted next week!

They rescheduled mine for the 26th :( Let me know how it goes tomorrow! At what time do you have the interview? Good luck!!!

Wow! Did they explain why they rescheduled? Did you have to show up to find out or they sent you a letter?
As for me, they confused the dates - since i will have a combo interview (i-751 pending as well), they first scheduled N-400 interview for the 17th, and  i-751 interview for Friday the 13th. Then they sent me a letter that both interviews will be held on the 17th. However, i will still show up on Friday in case they choose to interview me. Thank you for wishing me luck!

No offense here and congrats in getting close to the end of the immigration journey, but it sounds like you just attend both and call it a day. I only read the title.

You are welcome and good luck.

    Thank you!

No I insisted they sign my interview notice stating that we where there and we did not miss it and they had made a mistake. It was no small feat to get a signature either, we had to get a supervisor. BTW USCIS hates the word mistake (on their part) perhaps that's why it was like pulling teeth to get an acknowledgement, but with the GC in my hand what else could they do. Just a tip never use the word  mistake try a different word just not mistake!

Thank you for the tip! And good thing you insisted on the signature!

I concur with you @Mike E we had our AOS approved and had the GC already and USCIS still sent us an interview letter. We did not miss it we went anyway and squared it away once we were there. Hassle yes, but never ever miss one!

What did they do when you arrived? Did they do an interview despite the fact you already had the GC? What a mess USCIS is! They don’t seem to communicate well with each other or keep track of anything!

I'll add that there is a current member who is, as we speak, fighting to save an N-400 because he and his spouse missed a scheduled I-751 interview.  It is a big, big mess which will possibly result in a denied I-751 (missed interview) and a denied N-400 (due a previously denied I-751).  GO to that interview on the 13th!!!

This is very scary, thank you for this information! I know you and your spouse just had your interview and finally had your I-751 approved as well. My I-751 has been pending since September 2019, so a long long time too. I will go there on the 13th , if they tell me to turn around at the door - that’s okay, but it’s best to show up regardless. Thank you!

  16. Hello everyone and happy holidays to you and your families! I have a dilemma with scheduling for my N-400 and I-751 interviews. There will be a lot of specific dates in this post:

First off, I received an interview notice for N-400 dated 29th of November (received it in the mail in the first week of December). The interview is scheduled for January 17th.

On 15th of December i received an online notification that my I-751 is now also scheduled for an interview. I received a letter with the notice on the 22nd of December (2 days ago). The letter had the same N-400 interview notice that I received a couple weeks prior with the date January 17th AND a letter from my LOCAL office stating that this will be a COMBO interview and that I should be prepared for both - N-400 and I-751 ALL on January 17th. No official I-751 interview notice, just a letter from the field office letting me know it will be a combo interview.

YESTERDAY (1 day later after the previous notice  regarding a combo interview) i received another letter in the mail, now with the interview notice for I-751. It states that my I-751 interview is scheduled for January 13th! Nothing regarding my N-400 interview.

I’ve looked at the dates very carefully. Here are some specifics:

The very first N-400 interview notice was sent out to me on November 29th from NBC

A duplicate N-400 interview notice and the letter from my local office were sent out to me on December 19th from my local office.

I-751 interview notice was sent out to me on December 15th from NBC

Here’s what’s confusing - I received a letter from my local office stating the COMBO interview date is January 17th 1 day before I received a notice that my I-751 interview date is January 13th. Looks like USPS made it confusing because the I-751 notice was traveling over the weekend and got ‘delayed’ this way in transit, that’s why it arrived a day later than the other one dated December 19th.

From the looks of it, it seems like a clerical error, where they first scheduled my I-751 interview without paying attention to my already scheduled N-400 date, and then the local office took over, made it a combo interview and notified me via mail.
Question is: Do I still show up on January 13th? Or do I show up on January 17th for a promised combo interview?
I wish I didn’t have to go there twice for the sake of my mental sanity. But you never know with USCIS, i may have to go to both. What do you think? Would you trust the letter from the local office and overlook the other one? Please help. Thank you!
