ReneeGG reacted to Jamie Solo in Flew from UK to US on CR-1 Visa
Hey guys, thought I'd give a quick post so people can know a bit more about what to expect when travelling on a Spousal Visa during all the restrictions from COVID. And since I'm in the US now, obviously did it right 😜

My flight was booked with British Airways. Manchester to Heathrow and then onward to Seattle.

After booking my flight and managing my booking I did attempt to say I had a proper visa (not ESTA) as there was an option. It accepted it and I thought it worked.

Turned out it didn't cause when online check-in opened, they flagged me and said I had to do it all at the airport. This happens in a few cases for BA but the check-in staff at the airport confirmed it was cause of the visa issues when I got there.

Got to the airport in Manchester and handed over my passport. They looked at my visa and had a senior person look it over. They spoke about how it should be okay since it was issued in July. I explained that if they needed I have marriage certificates, a copy of US spouses passport etc. if they wanted to look at it. They were then happy to send me on my way to Heathrow but warned me I might get taken aside to go over all of this stuff when I'm boarding.

In Heathrow, after handing over my passport, the agent checked with someone behind him. They gave a thumbs up and I was on the plane! So the people in Manchester either passed on that I had everything or they were just happy with the issuance of the visa. Either way, I only needed the visa in the passport, and I didn't show any additional stuff.

Arrived at SeaTac, did my COVID checks and got to immigration and it was business as usual from there like you've seen in many posts before! Except my fingers were so dry from hand-sanitiser that my fingerprints took a few tries lol

Hi all, I wanted to share our experience today for the IR-1 Visa interview in Tbilisi, Georgia.

First of all, the interview letter requested that I attend the interview along with our 1 year old son. I have been living with my husband in Georgia since we were married, so attending the interview with him was no problem. His appointment was at 11:30am and we arrived at 11am. The embassy guards asked us to fill out a COVID-19 questionnaire regarding any symptoms or recent travel. After we filled out the form, they informed us that only my husband was to enter the embassy and if they needed me they would call me in. So, I waited outside with our son.

My husband entered the embassy and they told him to take a seat. After a couple of minutes, they called his name and requested the following documents: passport, birth certificate, relationship evidence (our sons birth certificate), military record, police certificate, and passport photos. They wanted all original documents.

Next, he sat for 10 minutes until he was called to the window. He had to swear by oath that he would answer truthfully to the following questions:
    - When did you meet your spouse?
    - Have you ever been apart from your spouse for an extended period of time?
    - Why are you both living in Georgia?
    - When was your son born?
    - Where are you planning to live in the US?
    - What does your mother-in-law do for work? (we are planning to live with her initially, so that's why they asked about her)
    - What's your goal when you get to the US?

The consular approved the visa and told my husband to expect the visa in 3-4 business days. He gave my husband the option to arrange with a courier or to pick up his passport when it was ready.

And that's it! My husband also mentioned that there were only 2 other people in the waiting room and everything was very sanitary with employees taking the necessary safety precautions due to COVID-19.

Hi all! Just received an interview date for July 29 from the Tbilisi embassy! Just an update for my fellow Georgian applicants

(I documentarily qualified on June 17, so it took one week to receive my interview date.)
  7. Thanks

Yes, at the bottom of the email it gives me the date and time of the appointment. It also requests that I attend the interview with my husband, along with our son (already a US citizen).

It was scheduled through the NVC. The emails says “The National Visa Center completed its processing of your immigrant visa application and forwarded it to the US Embassy/Consulate General, where an immigrant visa interview has been scheduled.”

Their website doesn’t say anything about their specific operations. Just the generic Covid statement about limited services being available. I didn’t contact the Embassy. Based on other posts, I figured I wouldn’t gain any new information by doing so. I was checking my emails and ceac website daily.

Just wanted to share how quickly this process has gone for me. I submitted I-130 March 28, 2020 then was approved by USCIS on April 30, 2020. Once in the NVC stage, I submitted all docs/fees May 29, 2020. I received RFE on June 15, 2020 and just received notice today that we are DQ! So, less than 3 months!?? This is just insanely fast. Now we are waiting to hear about the interview date. I'm feeling very lucky and wish you all speedy processing!
