AmyBL reacted to SalishSea in Rescheduled Interviews? Medical Appointments?
Consulates are scheduling out on the off-chance that they will get to open and complete interviews. When that doesn't happen, those interviews are cancelled, and can be rescheduled into potential dates, should they be able to open.
If an interview occurs before a medical exam result is available, the visa approval will be on hold, pending medical. Pretty common occurrence, and isn't a big deal. Every application goes into AP anyway, so this would be one reason for that.

AmyBL reacted to Strawberrymermaid in General knowledge of immigration vent
One thing I’ve learned about this process is the average American has absolutely no idea how immigration works at all. I admit too, I didn’t have the best understanding either.
A few of my faves:
“Why can’t you just marry your fiancé and he come here right away?”
“Why can’t he just fly to the US to come see you?”
“Isn’t he a citizen the second he gets married to you?”
”If you hire a lawyer, they could get him here faster”
“You know that he had to live with you and you have to pay for him for 10 years if you get divorced right?
🥴😒

AmyBL reacted to B&ANZ in I-130 February 2020 Filers
Make sure to contact USCIS to double check your service centre. Our receipt notice said Nebraska and then in the end of February with all the transfers, our account updated and we found out we were "transferred" to Potomac. We were told it was not a transfer and that by default the receipt notice said Nebraska until it got routed to the appropriate centre. So we are in Potomac and not Nebraska. From what they said, all IOE's get routed to Nebraska first and then they go to their respected service centre. Some receipt notices reflect the update and others do not.

AmyBL reacted to carmel34 in Joint bank account with a foreign spouse
Here's what we did:
1. we got married in Brazil in June 2018
2. I returned with the marriage certificate and started to complete the I-130 petition and other required documents
3. I included evidence of my four trips to Brazil, passport stamps, boarding passes, hotel receipts, a few photos together from each trip including wedding photos with his family
4. I added him to my employer's health insurance, and as beneficiary of 401K, investment accounts, bank account, and life insurance, all I needed was his name and date of birth, no SSN
5. I added him to one of my credit card accounts and included evidence of this with the petitioin
6. I downloaded and printed off some sample chat records, email log, etc. from the beginning of our relationship
7. I sent everything off in July 2018, no agency or attorney, the petition was approved 7 months later, he got his visa 4 months after that and entered the US in August 2019
Good luck!

AmyBL reacted to Lil bear in Who pays for your immigration fees?
It’s going to be a decision that each couple makes themselves. If we were in that situation, I wouldn’t be sitting with “ it’s your immigration not mine.. you pay for it “. My thoughts would be it’s “ our” immigration... “ our “ life choice ... “ we“ will pay for it together. But that’s just me.
