A K2 can only get a SSN after they receive an EAD or GC.  

Yes I tried applying for a social and they told me that they would only give me one after his i-485 or i-765 was approved which we sent both with our AOS packet he did biometrics  back in August but we are still waiting 😕

That's what I don't know yet. I'm waiting until the NOA letter arrives in the mail.

K-2 can get SSN after either I-765 or I-485 approval. What K-2 cannot do generally is get SSN right away arriving into the country the way K-1 can. 

Yes they started processing visas back in in May and then later announced that early 2023 they would begin processing all categories and they have done just that starting Jan 4th 2023 but it has been complete chaos.

So my understanding is that once the k1 visa issued you get your passport back and along with a sealed envelope which is opened by border patrol on POE. Do you trust the embassy if they say that both the K1 and K2 documents are in the same sealed envelope instead of individually.
 
Only asking because since it cannot be opened you have no way to confirm 😕 

If the embassy says that, what is your other option but to trust the embassy? 
 
Or take the the sealed envelope to a radiologist to get it imaged.

I've heard that too my concern is that he is not listed as derivative on the official email. I have chatted with other folks in the same situation in my whatsapp group some have the K2 on the email and some dont.

The Havana Embassy instruction pages I posted state they are not accepting this type of appointments at this time. According to OP they were aware of that but this has changed and the fact they have an HAV number means that is the embassy they sent their packet to which is "Ready" so they should be able to schedule and pay.
 
If I were in this situation it seems you will need to contact the embassy directly and tell them you have been directed to schedule an interview:

You are welcome to vent here.  The long wait is definitely frustrating.  But if it makes you feel slightly better, then yes, there are whole groups of K1 couples who have it worse than you.  I only mentioned about the K1 wait at other countries because that's what you asked in your original post.

Browse the forums for K1 cases from Haiti and the Philippines who have been waiting much longer than you.  Many who filed in late 2019 had their cases transferred to their consulate only this year.

If WhatsApp is where you are getting your US immigration info from, you may want to rethink that.  Regardless of what they said can be done, actual people have been denied the visa for holding a "non-legal" or "religious only" ceremony prior to the K-1.

Do not do this.  This is an excellent way to have the K-1 denied.

This foolhardy act has led to more problems than perhaps any other single action ever written about on VisaJourney.
