Hi All, I have a flight booked from LHR-EWR-DEN on Sunday under an IV and I am the Spouse of a US Citizen. Would anyone like me to document what happens on immigration if you are also looking into going? I am travelling on an IR1 and emigrating for the first time. United Airlines says I can board etc.... and may be subject to additional health screening. I was hoping an update on Monday might help anyone thinking of heading out there soon.

Additional - I'll also let you know if I successfully emigrate, if not, I will also update. I thought it might be helpful to all CR1/IR1 holders waiting to go.

midsummer reacted to FU-MY in FEBRUARY 2020 K-1 NOA2 to NVC to Embassy
    Good morning All,

I wanted to send this update out yesterday, but was sidetracked and was not able to.

Our case was mailed to the Embassy at HCMC, Vietnam on or about the second week of March.
HCMC Embassy was closed to the public on March 19th.
We suspected that the embassy was going to cut back on the people working and the cases they would be processing.

Finally this past Monday, my fiance received an email letting her know that the Embassy had mailed her the PKT3 letter and that she would be able to apply for the Visa.

“The U.S Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City has received your K visa application for processing.  You should download the instruction package on our website at   https://vn.usembassy.gov/packet3k for information on how to apply for a K visa to the United States.  Please read and follow the instructions carefully.
Your case is filed under your name and case number as shown below.   When communicating with this office either in person or through the online inquiry form at   https://vn.usembassy.gov/ivcontact, please provide your name and case number exactly as shown in this letter.    If you wish to update your personal information, please follow the instructions at: https://vn.usembassy.gov/ivupdate.”

She proceeded to go through steps 1 & 2 of the Instructions Package, and created the USTravelDocs Account and completed and submitted the DS-160.
She was also able to pay for the Visa, and we were excited to have her book the appointment….

Well….. that’s as close as we are going to get for a while.
This morning she received this email from the Embassy

“We have received the DS-160 Confirmation Page.  As of Thursday March 19, 2020, the U.S. Embassy and Consulate in Vietnam have canceled routine immigrant and nonimmigrant visa appointments.  We will resume routine visa services as soon as possible but are unable to provide a specific date at this time.  Please check our website here: https://vn.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/ frequently for updates.
The Embassy and the Consulate regret any inconvenience caused by these measures and will resume normal operations as soon as possible.”

We were really hope that should be able to secure an appointment date, even if it was for June or July, but no luck.

We am sharing this with you guys for a few reasons.
    1.       We have benefited from those that came before us and we wanted to return the favor to those that are in our same boat and those that may come after.
    2.       To let you guys know that the Embassy (at least in HCMC) are still working, even if at reduced hours or fewer representatives.

    The most important one.
    3.       Please be patient, things are certainly slower than we would ever want, but let’s not forget what is important… Both my fiance and I are healthy, and so are our families.
This love in the age of Covid thing is hard, but we will get through it. In a few months certainly a few years we will look back at this time and be comforted that our spouses are now sitting next to us on the couch or
helping us cook dinner and we will go over and hug them for no other reason than we are happy to have them there…

Keep up the positive attitude, we will get through this…

It's normal that you don't hear from the embassy as they are slow in sending the P3. I have some information I can share with you. I always recommend that you check the US Embassy where you will complete your interview as their website has instructions. Next place is other from your sub-forum here on VJ. Please pay attention to the last paragraph and give forward. It's important. Some did for you.

For your Embassy there is information here: http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Algeria&cty=Alger

The fiancé(e) K-1 non-immigrant visa is for the foreign-citizen fiancé(e) of a U.S. citizen. The K-1 visa permits the foreign-citizen fiancé(e) to travel to the United States and marry his or her U.S. citizen sponsor within 90 days of arrival. You can learn more about fiancé(e) visas on usvisas.state.gov.
Once your file is received at post, an instruction package will be sent to you by email. First you need to pay the visa fee at one of Aramex offices, and then you have to register and schedule a K-visa appointment through the online appointment system at
www.ustraveldoc.com/dz. Assemble the required documents that are listed on the instruction package. Schedule a medical examination with the Embassy-approved physician in Algiers at least 15 days before your visa interview If the visa is issued, your passport and documents will be available in approximately 7-10 business days at Aramex office that you already selected for pick up or delivery. If the visa is refused, the Consular Officer will provide you with further information. https://dz.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/fiancee/

If you find anything not up to date or the information is wrong, please share your findings. Please compare the date of the P3 of mine with the date from your copy, once you receive yours from your embassy. Keep in mind that I try and be factual with my information, but I can't do it on my own and that's where you come in and can give back to the community those who come behind you. Without others ahead of you I would not be able to provide this to you.  I can only share factual information if folks like you continue to be my eyes and ears for your embassy. I wish you much success in your visa journey.

Considering my previous post, I realized it may make more sense visually to flip the axes for NOA1 and NOA2 dates. The sudden change is more easily seen this way.

Are you really asking why people are panicking? This is a high stakes process and it is stressful, the pandemic is stressful, a temporary ban with no end date is stressful and not having information is stressful. It makes sense to worry when you just want to be with the person that you love.

    Hi All!!

Sent in the original first submission for I129F on Feb 4th.  Delivered overnight and sms received 2/11 with case number.  Once I put in the case number into USCIS web tracker it indicated that it was received on 2/5.  Check was processed 2/11 as well.

I know we need to be patient, but I do hope for speedy processing!!  Of course, don’t we all?

As I’m sure we all have, have spent many hours researching and building the application.  Now it’s all in the hands of the officials!!

For those who have just filed your I-129f application with USCIS, this thread has been created for your needs and for you to be with others experiencing different aspects of this journey. This is a place to ask questions and to share experiences. All are here to learn together. Good luck because this is a long process currently running 5-6 months from filing date for your NOA2 approval.

Also, since your application will go through a number of background checks this is a primer on what goes on with the background process.

I know it really sucks, but the best way to get through this is to lower your expectations and try not to compare your timeline to anyone else's. Don't forget that the people here on Visa Journey represent a tiny percentage of all the petitions the CSC has to work through! When someone gets to your file you'll hear from them. Stay busy, talk a lot with your fiancé about non-visa stuff, don't forget to hang out with your friends, take up a new hobby, go to a sporting event, and your time will come! Good luck

The explanation why is it taking so long.

I'm sorry to quote you; I'm new here and your post just stood out to me. I've just been granted citizenship and have seen no mention of any conditions of citizenship for any duration beyond the usual: vote in elections, get an Australian passport, answer the call if required for jury duty etc.

My fiancé and I are in the process of putting together our package for the K-1. I attend my Australian citizenship ceremony on the 26th and if we have not put in our application before that date we will update my part of the form to say that I am a dual citizen and supply a copy of my citizenship certificate. If we apply before the 26th then I will amend my details when we are contacted by the US team. In Australia you are not actually a citizen until you have sworn the oath and you can't prove that until you have got your certificate in hand.

To the OP, if you are intending to go ahead with your application for citizenship here in Australia you will need to let them know if and when you intend to travel. Processing is put on hold whilst you are overseas. I applied because I love Australia and we did talk about making a life here for the both of us. We were not engaged at the time that I applied. That came after my application for citizenship was approved. Don't stress! Do what's right for you at your own pace. Fill in the forms truthfully and make the most of where you are.

You've quoted the criteria for that make you eligible to apply. I can't speak to the OP's circumstances, however, should the OP meet the conditions and citizenship be conferred then it's unlikely that it will be revoked once the oath has been taken which is the point that I was making. It's a rare thing to be stripped of one's citizenship and I understand that it is a thing that generally in circumstances where a crime has been committed. I know of no one who has lost their citizenship - once gained, because they left the country soon after. Having just been through the process I can confirm that no one tells you that you must remain in-country for 10 years or else lose it and my post sought to counter that point.

Anyway. This isn't a forum about moving to Australia so I'll exit the thread and wish everyone the best of luck.

midsummer reacted to Penguin_ie in Negative attitudes in the forum
I wanted to address the negative attitudes we have seen on the rise recently in the upper/ immigration forums towards those who ask beginner/ simple questions, or have unusually fast or slow VisaJourneys.

First, there is a tone difference between the Progress forums- which are mostly for support and cheerleading, and the Info forums, which are mostly to have questions answered.   While all our forums are supposed to be welcoming to all and friendly, this is especially important in the Progress forums, which are not to discuss politics, or be negative towards  those fortunate to have their case dealt with quickly, or  critical of those who voice sadness about their own slow progress. These forums are there to uplift eachother!

Secondly- in the info forums, you may get bad news.  When a question is asked, our members are encouraged to answer truthfully, even if this may not be what the Op wants to hear, because it is important to be informed.  However, the emphasis is still on being welcoming and friendly.  If you need to give bad news, do so gently, and stick to facts; constructive criticism of the Op's plans ARE allowed, but the emphasis is on constructive.  No need to dwell on mistakes (or tell members they should be on 90 Day Fiance- that is a personal attack and automatic suspension), or  illegal actions in the past- instead, encourage and explain legal options for the future.  And ONLY legal options- as per our TOS, VJ does not support, condone or encourage illegal (immigration) actions, and such posts will be removed.

Ultimately, we are here to help all members, old and new, easy cases and complicated, those who write a fact filled bullet point post and those who are panicking and don't make much sense in their first post. Yes, sometimes questions can be easily googled, or answered via a search of our forums.  But if you feel that way, just scroll past- no need to criticise the OP for asking the question.

Like I said before, her intention is to get citizenship knowing she’s leaving, intention to stay is part of the citizenship process... it’s borderline lying to Aus government in order to attain citizenship before leaving to live in the USA just because she wants options down the track... immigration doesn’t work that way.. it’s just another form of visa shopping at its finest
