2 years ago, I was lost, confused, and miserable.  I can't drive, can't have friends,  can't work, phone destroyed and every aspect of my life is controlled.  Everyday I was walking on eggshells,  afraid to do or say something that will "trigger the beast". I decided to walk away and be free.

Today, I have my own car, have a full time job, have friends, and the most important thing - I'm no longer in an abusive relationship. I'm in a good emotional,  physical, and mental state. God is good! To everyone still waiting, be patient. Your time will come. Thanks to everyone in this page who have been a great help in my journey.  I found comfort in reading success stories waiting for my day to come. Hoping for more approval soon!!!

To God be the glory!!!!! ❤

I want to wish all my VAWA friends a good 2021.

If you got approved in 2020, then you know that your patience and persistence paid off, and the sky is your limit.

If you're waiting for approvals, or if some roadblock still faces you, be assured that your patience and persistence -- aided by your support here -- will pay off.  Envision how good this will feel when it happens, and keep that in your mind when things seem discouraging.

Happy New Year, now and soon.

You don't need to have a bad story to  kick his ### to the curve. I would never accept my husband calling me names,  if he smacks me upside the  head the cops will be in my house within 5 min, and he feels the same way. When your spouse doesn't respect you there is nothing  left to fight for. For God sake stop accepting crumbs in a relationship!

Today I cried tears Of grief because I have a special needs child who was out of control and I was so saddened and devastated.
Shortly after, I received a text that my VAWA was approved. I am so grateful to Allah! I filed in January 2019. No RFE
I wish all of you the same happiness. This isn’t real.
question: while my green card application is pending, can I travel with just VAWA? Like by applying for advanced parole or something ?

Good morning, I would like to share my recently experience using Advance Parole. I have a Paper Advance Parole Document because i applied for it separately after i received my EAD C09.

Yesterday February 28, i landed in Miami coming from Brazil after spending 30 days there visiting family and friends. Once i arrived at the airport I took the line for nonimmigrants and after about 30 minutes the Officer waved me to step in then i handed him my Passport, EAD and Advance Parole document. He collected my finger prints, photo, just like any other people coming with a visa, he then asked me to follow with the other Officer to a room for secondary inspection. There was only one Officer working in this room, and i saw 3 other people waiting there. After 45 minutes he called my name and wished me a great day then handed my passport and AP back with a stamp and a paper attached on it. He did not ask me any questions about my trip or anything else.

He is indeed. 2019 is ending on a high for me. Since my husband left (4 months) I've been blessed with a prima  facie, a car, and my EAD plus more hours on my job. And to top it off, my daughter is getting her EAD. Pray without ceasing because God still answer prayer.

This morning,Thanksgiving Day, I posted a video on my instagram saying how grateful I am to God because he blessed each one  here,  remember " YOU ARE A  SURVIVOR  OF ABUSE", victims are those that lost their lives due to domestic violence then you have a lot to Thank God today and every day. I am wishing you all a Thanksgiving that is filled with peace and love, and a special thanks to all Visa journey's moderators because day in and day out they are here providing/monitoring  this platform, that is a blessing to many.

Why on earth are you considering to reconcile with your abuser... really...REALLY??? .I can understand if you want to put your  life in risk but when you have a child you should put your child  first, and reconciling with an abuser you are endangering your child ‘s life.

Actions speak louder than words. You are considering to forgive him just because he asked for forgiveness. How about to put your child’s  life in first place, how about to learn self respect and develop self-esteem ,how about to think that your life is worth it,how about to think that your husband clearly doesn’t  love or respect you ? .

I have zero respect for abusers. Some women with  children stay in an abusive relationship because they can’t find a way out, you found your way out and now you want to throw everything away because of his stupid excuses .

Please seek help for yourself .I am not sorry if you find me rude but in case like yours  I am not a domestic violence advocate, I am your child’voice !

Use form AR11, sign and submit to USCIS by mail.

Hey dear.. You can download the AR-11 change of address online USCIS site.. Also there is no fixed template for cover letter, just write a simple letter informing USCIS of the update..notarize it and support it with the actual change of address (AR-11) completed and signed form. That's my thought.

    Hi everyone

I just came back to the States using my advance travel parole document and wanted to share my experience, as other experiences gave me courage to travel without fear so I want to return the favor and encourage others to travel.

I arrived at JFK NYC and went to the first officer, I gave him my passport and my travel document and he took my fingerprints and was so polite about everything, escorted me to the small room and said it’s a normal procedure. At the second room, the officer was also super polite and only asked me to show him my marriage certificate as I changed my last name (in my passport is my maiden name and on travel document my married name) and that was it. He stamped my passport and told me I was good to go.

It was such an easy process and I was panicking 2 months before my travel, I couldn’t sleep because of anxiety but it wasn’t troubled at all!

I want to say that I traveled to 2 different countries and stayed for 5 weeks in total. No question asked at all. I also overstayed my visa for 4.5 years and have pending VAWA case since Aug 2018. No questions about that either.

Thanks everyone for sharing their experiences but special thanks to @FeDaniela and @aquila for their kind words and encouragements.

    Good luck to us all

I would like to share my best news and happiness with you all. I am a manifestation of a LIVING GOD. My GOD is  AWESOME, I do not know how to describe how THANKFUL I am. It was only through his MERCY AND GRACE. HE did it to ME and I believe HE can do it to anyone. If you are still on the journey, please keep on praying and HE will answer you. GOD has moved my MOUNTAIN. It has been Amen to me🙏🏼.

Hi family, so I was just done with my interview today, it went well, though I didn't have my divorce,  the IO asked if i was divorced i said no but i was in process, she asked if i was still working i said yes i was still working! And presented my job verification letter paysubs w2 and tax returns from IRS. So she realised that I had filled as married and filling jointly! She asked about that and I explained to her that the person doing my taxes had insisted to file that way because I was still married! She became not happy! She asked me the yes no questions, after that she left the desk with the file I guess to ask for clarification.  Then she cane back and asked me to sign on the folder and later told me that she was going to approve my case and I should expect my greencard within 8 -10 days in the mail.

Am praising God, and as a human still looking at the status which is not yet changed! So I will wait! Hoping for the best!
