valaben got a reaction from Jho369 in Immigration green card/SSN issuing issue
We had a similar issue with getting the SSN. You'll just need to make an appointment with your local Social Security office as Crazy Cat says

valaben reacted to Quarknase in N-400 approved, but a TERRIBLE experience. Should I complain?
I'm sorry you had to go through this. Which field office was this? Your timeline isn't filled out.
I would write everything down IN DETAIL now that the memory is fresh. Wait for your oath ceremony, and then file an official complaint (after re-reading and editing to make it as objective as possible).
I disagree with others stating that you got what you wanted and shouldn't worry about anything else. This behavior is unacceptable and if anything can be done that she gets training on proper behavior so others don't have to experience what you've been through, then a complaint would maybe trigger this.
If you feel like she was mocking the fact that you are in a same gender marriage, I would put this in as well.
Congratulations to passing the interview!

No wonder
Just a thought about they would go in full force after shoeless immigrants rather than big tech company likes Amazon which has a record of paying zero tax to the federal makes me sick.

valaben reacted to travusb in USCIS launches SAVE feature today
Don't immigrants that move here and start working pay taxes for the programs that they are not allowed to us?
If they are tax payers then why are they not allowed to use a program they are paying into?
Seems like a bad system that allows one tax payer to receive a benefit another tax payer legally can't use.

Comparing to the amount of money the government has wasted in endless wars and creating conflicts in other countries in order to sell arms. I say it’s like comparing the size of a virus and an elephant. It’s just a politically talking point which never reflects the true value of the story.

Save America from poor and middle class immigrants. Millionaires are welcome.

valaben reacted to USAjune2016 in USCIS launches SAVE feature today
If I’m a US citizen taxpayer why would my tax money go to help you( example) and won’t go to help a loved one I’m sponsoring? I know which mentality your opinion and others is coming from( I’m a legal immigrant and I respect the laws) I do have this mentality as well but let me tell you something this law has not being enforced for decades by both parties for a reason. It simply unenforceable! The same will happen now. What you’re calling for is brutal for other immigrants that want to be with their family not because they want public means but they’re making it impossible to petition anyone. That’s not happening, wait and see
-
valaben reacted to USAjune2016 in USCIS launches SAVE feature today
This is not relevant because If you’re petitioning someone it’s required that you sponsor them or their application will be denied. If you like it or not you’d have to sign it I don’t know what you find wrong in this.
-
valaben reacted to USAjune2016 in USCIS launches SAVE feature today
People don’t sign an I-864 because they want to but because it’s required, Again I’m talking about moralitIes here and not legalities. I’m not a lawyer and I’m not on this forum to talk to lawyers either. Again I call you to rethink your opinions not because I want to win the conversation but Because we need to do the right thing.

This is called mutuality , I support you when you need help and you support me when I do. That’s how Humanity survived and also animals or birds.
How do you think insurance companies pay their claims and still make money. Mutuality! If a US citizen need to sponsor a loved one they should be able to do so. I have no doubt if you calculate how much money legal immigrants generate to the system minus how much they take public means the result is definitely positive.

valaben reacted to USAjune2016 in USCIS launches SAVE feature today
Legally you’re right but morally you’re not. Let’s say I’m a US citizen and a Tax payer as well. So around 30% of my income is gone and part of it goes to support other US citizen in need ( knowing that a lot of US citizens are rigging the system). Let’s say I sponsor a family member that means the world for me and while they’re here they really needed some sort of help now I can’t help them because my money is gone to help others that means nothing to me. So I have to sit and watch my loved one suffering? If only the wealthy and healthy will be able to come here, what’s the American dream is for then? The public system truly suffering but this isn’t because of the legal immigrants or their few loved ones that most of them are not actually seeking public means but instead paying taxes and contributing to the system But the real problem is the corruption, the citizens that are rigging the system and maybe illegal immigration but definitely not the legal immigration.
Yourself might be fortunate enough to support your loved ones but walk yourself in other people shoes If you can and wouldn’t you want them to get help?
I personally don’t have parents that want to come here but I think about my fellow immigrant and it hurts.

Yeah the government is making its own citizens criminals. Sounds like Mafia is running the country. Have they checked the trillions wasted in Iraq, Afghanistan, all wars and bailing out wall street.
Now the government is worried about the few thousand dollars. Penny foolish Administration

If you want to make it political then please be at least honest about it and don't say "not to get political" and then use pejorative terms like "bleeding hearts". It is also not true that Democrats have not touched the funding request. From what I have been reading there are concerns among Democrats in Congress that the DHS under Trump is using USCIS money for ICE and other purposes that it was not supposed to be used for and that this is why USCIS has run out of money. So they are looking for stronger guarantees from DHS that the funding will go to pay for USCIS employees salaries and not building a pointless wall.
However, regardless of your political position, Democrat or Republican, even a bipartisan majority will be fine to get USCIS the emergency funding it needs because this shutdown will affect everyone with an ongoing USCIS petition. So write your members of Congress to let them know you would like for them to support this bill.

Haha Administration only cares about keeping immigrants away ( especially the nonwhite one's). They really have shown they don't care about any ones lives. Just look at the puppet show going on

valaben reacted to sl1pstream in Trump To Suspend H-1B and Other Visas Until End Of Year
If this comes with broad exceptions, like the others, can we at least stop pretending that these bans aren't just an empty political gesture in the run-up to the elections, in a desperate attempt to please his dwindling base?
Not being able to discuss politics when it comes to bans that are clearly political in nature just seems weird and just makes it pointless to discuss these bans at all.

valaben got a reaction from OrihimeandIchigo in Do you pay for Medical Exam at the time of the medical exam?
I don't have any experience with Stockholm, so I can't help with specifics, but in Frankfurt Germany we paid right then in Euros for the doctor exam, and then received a bill in the mail a few days later for the lab work, which we paid through bank transfer (with our German account). I hope that helps.

valaben reacted to zochu in This is frustrating!
I don’t know where to submit this so move if in wrong forum or delete if not allowed but am frustrated!
This whole visa waiting game is hard but it has to happen ...
But what makes us (husband and I) frustrated is people who want to enter the US on a tourist visa and just stay because it’s quick and easy.
it’s the people who don’t do it the “proper” way - the way we are doing it.... via consular processing etc if that’s even the proper way - who knows 🤷♀️
Ive told the same person on FB 1 million times that “wife cannot enter USA on tourist visa with intent to immigrate” ... but they just want a quick, easy way for a “green card” - like don’t we all? Don’t we all want to be with our spouse?
if all due respect to others I really find it hard to also believe that someone went on JUST a holiday and then “circumstances changed” and they just stayed 🧐 no furniture to sell? No rental to cease? No car to sell? I don’t know, resign? Do the right thing and give your 2 weeks notice? Get all your belongings? End your life in your home country before you make a new life?
this is really frustrating to see. It’s a really lonely process that is just full of the “unknown”.
it is the path we picked - consular processing because (a) don’t wanna commit visa fraud 😆 especially if I want to be an attorney and (b) because it’s the right way? Correct me if I’m wrong.
single parenthood while we wait is hard. Lonely and hard and yes a consequence of our actions still lonely nonetheless.
😞

Yes. Whenever you enter the US (at the airport) they will confirm your mailing address for the green card, and you can update it then.

valaben reacted to Penguin_ie in Negative attitudes in the forum
I wanted to address the negative attitudes we have seen on the rise recently in the upper/ immigration forums towards those who ask beginner/ simple questions, or have unusually fast or slow VisaJourneys.
First, there is a tone difference between the Progress forums- which are mostly for support and cheerleading, and the Info forums, which are mostly to have questions answered. While all our forums are supposed to be welcoming to all and friendly, this is especially important in the Progress forums, which are not to discuss politics, or be negative towards those fortunate to have their case dealt with quickly, or critical of those who voice sadness about their own slow progress. These forums are there to uplift eachother!
Secondly- in the info forums, you may get bad news. When a question is asked, our members are encouraged to answer truthfully, even if this may not be what the Op wants to hear, because it is important to be informed. However, the emphasis is still on being welcoming and friendly. If you need to give bad news, do so gently, and stick to facts; constructive criticism of the Op's plans ARE allowed, but the emphasis is on constructive. No need to dwell on mistakes (or tell members they should be on 90 Day Fiance- that is a personal attack and automatic suspension), or illegal actions in the past- instead, encourage and explain legal options for the future. And ONLY legal options- as per our TOS, VJ does not support, condone or encourage illegal (immigration) actions, and such posts will be removed.
Ultimately, we are here to help all members, old and new, easy cases and complicated, those who write a fact filled bullet point post and those who are panicking and don't make much sense in their first post. Yes, sometimes questions can be easily googled, or answered via a search of our forums. But if you feel that way, just scroll past- no need to criticise the OP for asking the question.

valaben reacted to SunflowerSweet in to ask the passport be returned
I’m sort of confused why you are so insistent on getting that passport back. Yes AP is frustrating, but you’re in a place where your visa could be approved literally any day.
What if they were going to issue it next week? It’s possible you could have had the visa in hand on the 18th (or shortly after) anyways! That visit of his you were so looking forward to could have been permanent. Your best case scenario now is that they will grant the request, and then your husband will need to give his passport back after he returns. Hopefully they pick up right where they left off.
Even if the ESTA is still in play, what happens if he gets turned away at his POE? He clearly has established immigrant intent. You don’t think they are going to question all of this? You need to disclose the refusal/denial/whatever, I can’t imagine they won’t notice. I mean everybody in the thread is questioning it, I wouldn’t be surprised if CBP did as well.
I don’t see this as anything other than a self-inflicted delay of approval even if things go right for you. Which also makes me question if there isn’t more to the story.

Goodluck! After all this waiting I dunno why you guys dont decide to just wait a bit more and get the Passport back WITH the Visa in it... They can't just tell you when that might be?
