Same here. I was finally able to efile State and Federal today and both were accepted. Now to wait for them to be processed but I am just glad I did not have to mail them in.

How long did you have your SSN when you E-filed.

My step daughter got her SSN the first week of April and I tried to E-file....the returns were rejected due to her SSN not matching IRS records.

Curious how long it takes new SSNs to get in the system...

I understand your frustration with the process - But do you honestly think that these posts EVERY time someone else gets positive news are helpful?  There are many waiting longer than you.

First, I made no comment critical of you.

Kindly save your opinions on my frustrations.  You honestly have no basis to understand what most are going through if your case was finished in 7 months.

Good for you though. Happy for you.

My entire problem with this process is the unfairness and the randomness of the results.  People waiting far longer than you, and yes me, for no other reason than they have the wrong person holding their case files.

Also, I wasn't aware I needed to screen my posts with you to determine their level of "helpfulness before commenting.

I guess that's next thing in the new culture..."helpfulness police".

Congrats! That's pretty fast. I think a lot of July filers just got their biometrics, although one person has her interview scheduled already.

My wife's 485/765 bio is tomorrow...we filed 7/15.  For some reason they have not scheduled her 12yo daughters biometrics the same as hers, even though they filed AOS at the same time. No one seems to have any answers why they have done so.

    Congratulations. So happy for you.

Address change is a nightmare with USCIS. USPS Informed delivery might be a little help.

We have informed delivery...but oddly enough,  the forwarded mail we have received since we moved does not show up on it.  Not sure what the deal is with that. Typical government #######...nothing works like it should.

I called the USCIS help desk today and got them to confirm our address change was indeed completed.  The lady also confirmed that the only appointment notices sent out recently was the one we received yesterday.

The person I spoke could not explain why the appointment notice was mailed to the old address.  She said perhaps the appointment was scheduled before the address change was official.  That doesn't make much sense, we got a confirmation that the address change was completed on Nov 28.

As it stands I will likely be calling once a week to make sure we don't miss a mailed notice or something until we finally get some manner of correspondence from USCIS at the new address.

No one has also yet been able to explain why our 12yo daughters case is being process separate from her mothers....

  5. Well we finally got a bit of good news after all the struggles we've had.

Wife finally got a biometrics appointment for Jan 15.  797 says its for I485/I765.

    Obviously this is great...

    2 issue we have...

Our 12 yo daughter had her Biometrics back in October.  Just for the I765.  Nothing has updated for her I765, and she did not get another appointment for her I485 as of yet.  Not sure why...her case is tied to her mothers but they are processing them separately it appears.

On top of that, we moved on the first of November.  I submitted the address change and got a confirmation email from USCIS saying it had been done.

However, the appointment letter we got today for my wife was still sent to our previous address and forwarded by the Post Office.

Any guidance on what we should do about the address change not being done as they said it was? I don't want to continually rely on mail forwarding...

  6. I've stopped checking in so much because its a huge disappointment every time I see more and more people being lucky enough to proceed on with their lives.  Good for all of you...

We are not so fortunate...no progress...and no avenues available to get anything done...

After all we went through to get this far it is tragic what has happened l.  At some point we are going to have to consider leaving the US entirely and just going back to Thailand.  We cannot continue to wait and have my wife unemployed and unable to travel to see her family indefinitely.

    This entire process is torture...

Maybe it will give some hope for others who are waiting on their biometric appointment. I just received the letter today for my appointment ..! I had a tier 2 agent on the phone on Monday, who said couldn't give me an appointment but could send another service request .. I don;'t know if that's why it finally worked or not but anyway . Crossing my fingers for all of you guys waiting

I gave up hope anything will go right for us long ago.  It hasn't so far.

Has anyone else been told they have a "technical difficulty" and so the agent can't assist you? It has happened to me more than once and now I think it's BS.

I don't think its BS...just more USCIS incompetence.

I was speaking with an Immigration Officer at our ASC today because he personally filed  a service request over a month ago for my wife's biometrics appointment.  His request has gone unanswered just as the one we submitted a month before that one with a Tier 2 agent on the phone has also never been answered.  He has apologized many times for the way we have been treated.  Genuinely nice guy...but even he can't do anything to help us.

While I was speaking to him he indicated that even he could not access case status information...he said it had been an issue for days.

Sounds like what I need is Code 3 instead of Code 2 since it’s a combination of Code 1 & 2 (I think Code 1 is what you need for the GC). I’ll make sure to tell them to do Code 3 at the appointment. Thank you!!

Doesn't matter what you need...its what they schedule you for...

My wife and step daughter (12yo) filed AOS from K1 and K2 at the same time...

Daughter had her biometrics appointment a month ago for her I765(code 2)

Her mother has never received an appointment for any biometrics...

And the the 12 year olds I765 case status has never updated since her biometrics were done a month ago.

Just another series of disappointments for us.

    Literally NOTHING is done right.

  10. So many people receiving good news. Happy for you all...

We still remain in the same situation...no end in sight for the disappointments and incompetence...

Yet another service request has gone unanswered, and we are back to having no where to turn for help yet again.

Those of you who actually receive updates to your cases don't know how lucky you are.

None of these things have EVER worked for us...from the start.

Matter of fact...to this day if you look up the online status for my wife's I129F...it still says "case received".

No surprise that our AoS status has also not updated.

Tier 2 Agent said they definitely would not do my wife's biometrics without an appointment notice...so that is out.

They have really nice rules and processes in place that protect these people from any kind of accountability for screwing up the most basic of tasks.

Like not scheduling an 11 year olds biometrics without her mothers...given that the child's adjustment of status is tied to the mothers.

    Complete stupidity...

    Update...

We attended the biometrics appointment for my 11yo step daughter (k2).

Upon arrival I had an indepth conversation with the IO there and explained  that my wife(k1) and our step daughter had filed AOS(I485/I765/I131) concurrently yet we had only been scheduleded the one biometrics for the I765 for the little girl.

He went into his system and tried to locate an appointment for my wife and was unable to find anything.

He said ASCs may not do walkins.  There must be a current appointment in the system.

He said it made no sense that my wife did not have any appointment scheduled and the daughter did.  They should be done together.   He apologized that there was nothing he could do other than generate another service request and we would just have to wait.

Unfortunately we have never heard anything from the other service request generated on this very issue before we went to the appointment

He seemed like he genuinely wanted to be able to help but there was no process for him to do so.

    Lovely...

Can't say I expected anything other than disappointment and further delays and mistakes.

They literally can not do anything right...

You are right!  From my experience, which is just a little bit different from this situation, i realized that USCIS customer agents are not a resource you should depend on.. Its way better for the mum to go with her child and explain the situation, cus those ASC workers have more sense than customer agents... Customer agents will only leave you thirsty for more information LOL

I long ago stopped having any expectation that these people will do anything fairly or correctly.

At NO point in our entire process, from the K1 Visa until now, have these people done ANYTHING right.  We have been subjected to one mistake after another and outright incompetence from the start.  None of our delays were the result of anything we did incorrectly.

I have said it before and I will repeat it again.  This process has nothing to do with how well you prepare your evidence and documents.  It is fully dependant on which person ends up with your file and if that person cares enough and is competent enough to do their job.

We have not been fortunate in that regard at any point.

Just go and tell them to get the biometric for the mother too. Maybe they do.

  14. Here we go again...

After having to refile because the Lockbox wrongly rejected our applications we now have yet another issue to resolve due to yet more USCIS incompetence.

As background...my wife and 11 year old step daughter are adjusting status from K1 and K2.

Yesterday we received an i797 in the mail for a biometrics appointment just for the i765 for our 11 year old step daughter ONLY.

    Nothing for her mother.

Numerous hours of online chats and phone calls with tier 1 and tier 2 agents and the best they can offer is that they sent an email to the ASC handling the case and said the ASC would reply to us via email in 10 to 15 days.

Even after I told them the biometrics appointment was  for 10/7/2020(8days), they said that was all they could do and that I would just have to wait for them to respond.

I would say I'm shocked at the level of incompetence of these people but I am really not.

So at this point we must take an 11 year old child for biometrics for her i765, while her mother has not been scheduled for anything.

The level of stupidity from these people knows no limits.

This. I like to stay positive but you always have to read between the lines:

    https://www.uscis.gov/news/news-releases/uscis-averts-furlough-of-nearly-70-of-workforce

So while it looks like a win, it is not really a win. We still need Congress to do something.

They act like they were doing a good job to begin with...There are thousands of people who can attest to the fact that this agency is completely broken from top to bottom...

How did your meeting with Senator go? Usually they have some clout with USCIS where they get at least get some answers.

My meeting focused on why a person screening these cases does not have the basic knowledge to know that K1 AOS applicants do NOT require a priority date.  The fact our case was rejected because of this is completely unacceptable.

As for our case,  we are still in the same place, no progress at all.  We resubmitted 3 weeks ago after the case was rejected by the incompetent staff at the Lockbox.

At this point, we really have no expectation our case will be treated fairly. There is really no end in sight to this.  We have done everything precisely as was asked of us.  Provided every bit of evidence required and then some.

Yet our case was wrongly rejected, and there is no process in place to rectify that.  Just resubmit and try our LUCK again.

How many times must we do that???  We are both tired...And I am embarrassed that I brought my wife and stepdaughter to the USA to be treated in this fashion.

We are at the point now where we may just return to Thailand.
