RamonGomez reacted to tony777 in Include evidence of pregnancy on I-751?
I am preparing I-751 for my wife. We have a 3yo son and she is 7-months pregnant with the second one. Should I include evidence of the pregnancy (such as a note from her doctor) with the application?

When we did an address change 3-4 years ago, USCIS started sending all mail to our new address EXCEPT the interview notice, which was automatically forwarded by USPS... it's beyond insane that so many paper notices are sent out.

Even immigrant visa interview appointments at the consulate are sent by email (at least ours was)!

It really is an embarrassment. 30 months is just flat out unacceptable, especially considering the fact that so many from 2020 are being approved. Terribly sorry for your troubles here. My wife's friend just got her permanent residence in Australia and it didn't take nearly as long as the American system (I know America processes a lot of applications, something that could be remedied by proper staffing). My wife applied for ROC in May 2019 and not even a notice for an interview.

Agree. If you lose your credit card and need to cancel it, the USCIS payment will be declined. Or there's a chance your CC company's fraud filter gets triggered and declines the transaction. Or a bunch of other things that could go wrong. There have been more than a few reports on VJ of credit cards not going through leading to rejected petitions.

    Send a check.

I would risk a CC payment (for the 2% cash back) if USCIS processed petitions within a week, and sent them back promptly if the petition is denied rejected like they used to back in the day. It took them 5 weeks to accept our petition in Feb 2021, and I've heard of rejected petitions taking 1-2 to be returned.

I would think it's staffing related - more officers, fewer case types perhaps? LIN also had 1-2 January approvals and a bunch from Oct-Dec 2020 as well, it seems to really have picked up.

When I saw another thread mentioning that a case filed prior 12/2020 for SRC was eligible for a case status request, I thought "Whaaaa?  No way"  Holy, what on earth is SRC doing to make their cases go so fast?!  They're averaging like 4-6 mo!  Whatever food or energy drinks their staff is consuming down there, we need to get a few cases of that to the other centers STAT!

Just saw a post that the Nebraska Center (LIN) had a Jan 2021 approval! Also a few more October/November approvals as well. They seem to be moving a lot faster than when we submitted in February. Really hoping we get an approval w/o an interview....

There were some approvals from Sept-Nov 2020 in the past month or so. It's looking like 8 months in the best case scenario if things continue at this rate.

I suspect you are approved.  Set up USPS informed delivery now so that you don’t miss delivery.  Make plans to literally  outside your mail box on the day the card is due to be delivered. I am talking camp chair, umbrella, bbq for the hot dogs you can eat, and a cooler full of beer to stay cook and a bottle champagne for when the card does arrive.

If the carrier comes and goes and no card, chase after the carrier and get your card.

RamonGomez got a reaction from Gdoggy1678 in Estimated Interview date?
Since interviews only recently started I think it's hard to get an estimate of when you'll get an interview.

Guangzhou used to be pretty quick. When we did the CR2 process for my stepdaughter pre-Covid, we got our interview appointment 2 weeks after DQ. The appointment was 3 weeks after we got the interview notice. However, there is a backlog of several months when interviews were totally suspended. I know they've re-started them, but probably additional petitions have been approved since then as well. I know they are prioritizing immediate relatives so that complicates the predictions as well. And if NVC takes 3 months to DQ you, who knows what the situation will look like in July.

If I were in your case and making plans, I'd probably assume 9-12 months until visa in hand. And that assumes no problems with NVC, no length administrative processing, etc...  best of luck to you!

RamonGomez got a reaction from Adventine in How do you deal with these massive packages due to paper clips?
Split up the paper clips so about 1/3 are on the left side, 1/3 are in the middle of the document, and 1/3 and towards the right side of the page. Your idea of using binder clips to do bigger sections would work as well. TBH 5 inches seems really, really thicc. Our packet was 1.5" and even at that point I thought it was excessive. And that included deeds to our jointly owned homes, kids' birth certs, auto titles, bank accounts etc.

BTW what is that first document? For ROC you basically just need the I751 form + copy of green card + copy of marriage certificate + evidence. I don't recall sending in any "white book" natatorial docs. Unless it's a Chinese marriage cert, I don't think you need to send in any other white books.

Woah- same here! This is a nice surprise, since it's taking a really, really long time to do biometrics nowadays.  I assumed it'd be a while since our case is at LIN which seems to be one of the slower centers (though there was a Sept 2020 approval a few days ago). The real wait now begins.

RamonGomez got a reaction from Crazy Cat in I751 attorney needed?
We filed the I-751 ourselves, but if we get an interview, we're definitely bringing our AOS attorney along to the interview with us. Even if the case is straightforward (I think ours is), there is some benefit to have an advocate/witness around during the interview.
