    Hi Fam!

After a few days of getting the interview cancellation, I got another online update that my case has been scheduled for interview but I didn’t receive any notice in the mail for all the updates. My lawyer is not responding to me at all. How do I get a copy of the notice and ask for a change of address? If i do it online i know it might take awhile and I might miss my interview. Help pls! @FeDaniela @Stillwinning!!!😊 @sandranj @TBoneTX

It takes time to receive that notice. for me it took 2 weeks after the status was updated online

    Hello family.
been re- reading about all your experiences post vawa approval and I just want to confirm data.
case approval after card delivered will be received approximately between 7 to 45 days, correct?
transfer to local office should be expected in 10-60 days, correct?

for whom is from Brooklyn/nyc area: I really appreciate some info about timeline on potential interview!

I think it's different for everyone. I never received a transfer notice - my interview was scheduled 8 months post-VAWA approval but I waited 5 months after the interview to receive the green card

I received VAWA approval 2.5 months after receiving the work permit

When i finally decide to file my divorce i wen to the family court and i had to file the petition and gather documents for my case it toke me 1-2 months, once i filed the documents i had to serve him with the divorce papers, i had to hire a company and it toke them 2 months to try and serve him since he was changing address and avoiding service. By law they have to make at least 3 attempts to serve him, and if they are unable to serve him the company issues a report that they were unsuccessful and i had to bring that to the family court and add this to my divorce file and then i had to pay the sheriff's office to put a notice at the local court house to try and notify my spouse for the divorce and I have to wait 30 days for the knowledge to expire, after that I had to hire a chef to try and locate and serve my spouse and I had to post that I am trying to locate and divorce my spouse in the the notify my spouse for the divorce and I have to wait 30 days for the notice to expire, after that I had to hire the chef to try and locate and serve my spouse and I had to post that I am trying to locate and divorce my spouse in the local  news paper. Those were all requirements that i had to do to show the court that i did everything possible to notify my spouse about me wanting to divorce hm so we can have a fair trial. After that I had to schedule I have I have to submit my documents and to get a schedule coordinate for my final divorce that took a while and after the final divorce the date I had to go out to P in front of a judge so just can make a decision on my divorce eventually I got my divorce and the whole process took almost 2. This is my case yours can be faster

oh wow! that's a long process. I am glad you were able to get the divorce! Mine took 8 months. My ex didn't want to sign the papers, and then also kept changing addresses. Thank God the person who was hired to served him found him on the third attempt. otherwise, it would take me a long time too. I'd also say that it depends on how busy the local court is - some take quite a long time to review and approve it.

Hi All ! I recently received my EAD (C31) . But no official approval letter for I-360. It has been over 45 days since I got my card . On the website it says Post office delivered my card (nothing about approval of case ) can someone point me into right direction of what needs to be done please? I am stuck in the limbo

I waited for my approval letter for 3 months

yea will do that once i have the actual card in hand :) at the same time i have applied for a new I-765 since myne was going to expire does anyone knows what will happen with that application ?

They typically just deny your work permit based on the fact that you are now a permanent resident. When my gc was approved, my work permit and advace parole were denied based on that the same day.

  7. Hey! I was wondering if you know whether the person who was an abuser in a vawa petition can sponsor a new spouse?

My ex's mom just told me that my ex is marrying a woman from Brazil and I was shocked and feeling bad for that woman. My friends tried to warn her but she blocked them :( My ex is really crazy, he was in jail for 3 years and I don't want her to go through what I had to go through. Will USCIS send her some kind of warning if he applies for her?

Can you please tell me what original docs I must have?

Sure, so I would suggest to bring originals for everything you submitted with the VAWA package because you never know what they will ask for. But the key documents that must be original are:

    - passport

    - marriage certificate

    - birth certificate

    - certified copy of the divorce certificate if applicable

    - EAD and other IDs (state ID etc)

    - medical form if applicable (must be sealed)

btw bring a couple of passport pictures just in case - USCIS lost mine and they asked me for it during the interview

    What should I do?

Vawa and i485 applied in june 2017

    Vawa approved november 2018

    Since then nothing

My lawyer made an inquiry to Vermont center and they told us that my case has been sent to federal plaza so inquire them, my lawyer sent them a letter but no response.

I made an info pass and went to ask about my case and they told me my case is in line to schedule for interview (that was in march)

I have contacted senator Gillibrand and congressman as well and sent an inquiry request to ombudsman.

I would say just keep pushing your congress person. Federal Plaza is insanely slow - I waited for 5 months post interview to get the green card. I asked my congresswoman to follow up with them very often and I think that helped. My lawyers also sent a couple of letters to Federal Plaza but we never received a response.

How much time does it usually take for a Congress person to get back to you about an inquiry?
I wrote to her and she responded by sending me a “privacy release form”, I filled it out and resent it to her over 3 weeks ago and  complete silence👀

That most likely means that your congress person did not receive a response from uscis. Follow up with your congress person! Mine had to reach out to uscis 5 times and received only one response

    Hi Everyone!

I got an RFE for Medical from NY Office, it came in 10 days late in mail to my attorney. However, I responded to it with the sealed medical sent over to the address they requested (26 Federal Plaza #0127, New York, NY 10278 ) via USPS overnight shipping with signature request on Friday. The delivery was attempted on Saturday and USPS said, "Delivery Attempted No access to Delivery Location." Did anyone experience such issue with their mail? I am afraid if they are closed for pandemic and not accepting any signed deliveries.

I had the same notification when my lawyer sent follow up inquiries - they are closed on weekends. USPS will redeliver on the next business day, all good.

    I have a question,

i have  previous i485 held in abeyance but my lawyer filed a new i485 anyways,

now that im approved . which one would they use.

does uscis knows about the pending i485 in my local office?

will it make it faster for interview?

    anyone experienced this?

Oh boy. My lawyer did the same. I had two pending I-485s, and at the interview the officer complained that I had two pending. The lawyers should not do that.  I think having tow pending I-485s creates such a mess at USCIS. When I was called for an interview, the officer said that he will have to deny the marriage-based one because I can't have two pending petitions. I am still waiting for the decision on the VAWA-based after my interview in Jan

USCIS have 3 new policy updates today, which benefits at lot. Regarding AOS EAD now will be valid for 2 years instead of 1 years this include EAD Renewal too:) This is great news, Also Trump administration instructed Officer to denied an application without sending RFE or NOID this rule is also change to the previous principal officer will issue RFE or NOID if initial or additional evidence are missing in a case or will prove eligibility. https://www.uscis.gov/policy-manual

wow this is amazing! it will definitely help people. I am on my 6th EAD now - and well I was stressed all the time because of the delays. So this is great!

My second prima face 180 extension days valid till jun 7 but I still didn’t get 3rd . If I don’t get it does it mean will I get my decision soon? I’m from oct 2019

How many prima facie did you receive in total during the process

They don’t always send another prima facie. I received only one that valid for a year after submitting the I-360 petition. Received approval notice 6 months after the first prima facie expired

Hello everyone... pls what are the documents i need to send to renew my work authorization under C09.. i have a pending Vawa and i485

    thanks

Send a copy of your pending I-485, two passport photos, copies of the EADs you had before, birth certificate, copy of your passport, last I-94. I also included docs showing that I work, VAWA approval, copy of visa to enter the country, taxes - I always send them more to avoid RFE haha

    Thank you for your reply.

Thank you for your advice i will wait like a week or 2 and will start to reach out to them Hope they wont get mad at me for asking for a decision and denied my case just out of spike

And no im just in a worry im so happy that you got that approval, and the only reason why i wanna have an answer is that im waiting for that approval for the past 6 years and i just want to be able to move and finally have a safe and normal life, also i have been offered a job for the city that will bring me security and stability and i don't wanna lose that opportunity. Also im also worried about my citation and how that may or may not affect my case.

I don't think they get mad! Unfortunately, if they delay cases there is no other way for us to move on with our lives. I personally don't understand why they delay cases for VAWA petitioners. A lot of us need to move to a different address or state or change jobs or surnames just to be safe from our exes. So I honestly believe that reaching out to your representative will NOT have any negative impact on your petition. I heard that 80-90% of what congresspeople do is immigration issues - so you are definitely not the only one they inquire about. I'm personally ready to sue - otherwise they will take years to make a decision.

I'm sure your life will be normal, and all this waiting and negative experience will be over very soon! May I ask about your citation?

Still hoping you'll get a positive response soon dear. Keep pressing your congressperson/senator.

Thanks me too! I have no idea why the immigration office here provides such a poor service. It is very different in Europe - where waiting for an immigration benefit for 3 months is considered a delay. Here it takes years, sometimes decades!! yeah my congressperson reached out to them 4 times. Once they responded that the file is in transit to the field office - which does not make any sense to me. The senator reached out 3 times but they haven't responded
