Hello family,
I have been following this website for a long time. I filled Vawa 2018 in August, got 3 prima facie determinations, 2 EAD cards and just filled for 3rd renewal couple days ago. Today I received email that USCIS received my correspondence but I didn't send them nothing for I360 since initially filing. What does it mean? Thank you.
I received this update for my I-360 every time my I-765 EAD renewal was approved. I don't think it means anything

Hello everybody
i sent my vawa case package to vermont USCIS in 29th of April i want to ask
when will i get my first notice of action (NOA1) ?!
it is been more than 3 weeks now and i get nothing
For me, it usually took 2-3 weeks to receive NOA, sometimes it takes more time. If you have a tracking number, you can see whether the package was delivered. I think you can contact USCIS if you don't receive anything in 5-6 weeks

Hello all! Long time lurker first time poster. I wanted to chime in to help add to the confusion, lol.
My VAWA has been approved.
Timeline:
Jan 2019- i360, 485, 765 filed
Feb 2019-PF received
March 2019- req for bio (ead)
June 2019 ead received
March 2020 ead renewal filed
May 2020 Email notification that card was being produced
card was mailed out couple of days later
some of my supporting evidence :
police reports
affidavits from family
insurance documents

When I went to my lawyers office in March she informed me that they were just getting approvals for VAWAs that was filed in early 2018, I did not expect an approval so soon.
Congrats! We have similar timelines

Hey guys. How are you? Quick question here. I applied January 2019, no RFE to date. Applied for EAD renewal and it was processed right away and just approved. Ead was set to expire soon. Now it’s been 16 months since I applied Cor VAWA, is there any hope that my VAWA approval is closer?
Hi! I am a Jan 2019 filler, and I just got approved recently - it took 16 months for me. At the same time I know people who filed in Aug 2018 and are still waiting. It is quite unpredictable with USCIS, I guess it also depends on the officer working on your case and on how fast background checks are done. I hope you get approved soon!

LolaB,
After your VAWA approval, how long it took for you to get the EAD?
I haven't received the EAD yet - just saw the update today online

Yeah it’s so sad that these people didn’t even look at my case ,but there is nothing I can do other than just accepting my fate ,cuz life could be worse .. but that just drives me mad ..but I dnt care or give a ** anymore ..I will wait till they do whatever they have to do ...having green card is very very pertinent but there is more to life than having green card or USA blue passport ..so I will just have to wait and hope their delay doesn’t affect me,now that it’s hard to keep a job ..everybody is getting laid off ...
please can you tell me how long it took you to have your own EAD renewed and what do you mean by this time it was less than 2..I dnt really get that part ..thanks and God bless us and make life worth living for us in Jesus name
Hi @Blunt, it was my 3rd EAD renewal, and what I meant is that I waited less than 2 months for the EAD to be issued this time. My 2nd renewal took 8+ months. USCIS is quite unpredictable. Hope you get yours soon!

Hi!
I was wondering if anyone knows whether it is ok to receive unemployment benefits and whether it will have an impact on our green card or citizenship petition. I just got laid off because of the virus and I am not sure whether it is ok to apply for unemployment as a green card applicant.
Stay safe and healthy!

Hi @Lola_lalo, thanks! I renewed it under the C09 category. I didn't pay for the renewal, however, I paid for my I-485 when I submitted it last year

Hey, I'm sorry to hear that. I always contacted my congressman if my case was delayed, they are usually quite helpful! Hope you get yours soon

Where did you file? Vermont or NBC?
Congratulations. Which office did you file?
Thank you! I filed with Vermont by myself, forgot to mention it's a renewal, my 3rd EAD. I'm surprised because I waited 8 months for my first EAD and 5 months for my 2nd one.
Good luck everyone!

Hello everyone,
To those who filed for renewal of EAD, how long did you receive a receipt letter after sending your application?
Thank you
A little less than two weeks in Jan 2020, 3 weeks in May 2019

I know it is stressful the wait time but the beauty is that 90% of the applications get approved!!!
As long we have enough evidence/proof and all documents in hand to submit
Let’s stay strong and positive!!!
90% is a very good approval rate! A lot of sources online say it is extremely difficult to get your vawa approved - but what I see here and hear from other people, most people do get approved if they have some relevant evidence

Hi everyone,
I had my I-485 marriage base interview today at Federal Plaza Nyc.. I had the nicest officer, me and my lawyer did not had the time to request the I-485 to be held, He said your husband is not here, what happened? lawyer handed the I360 receipt he said i see, give me a second let me verify my computer, He said a t6 file was created by Vermont (not sure whats that) we cannot do an interview today, I will sent your
I-485 to Vermont to be together with your I-360 once Vermont approves it they will ship back
to us and we send you another interview notice.... he ask me if I was divorce i answer not yet, he said is my husband USC OR LPR I answered LPR, he said let me have your ID... after that he ask me anything you want to add to your I-485 more abuse proof so we can ship together with your i-485 my lawyer said no, we will wait for Vermont to request... He said Ok. have a nice date... we left
Everyone's experience is so different! I went to my marriage-based interview in NYC to inform the officer I filed for vawa, and I didn't even talk to the officer. The receptionist took my docs and gave it to the officer and he said he doesn't need to talk to me because he has my documents already.

Hi @lolaB998 thanks for responding. So, it worked for you? You’re so lucky! So what do you do first? Compose a letter, gather all documents and show up at your Congressman/Ombudsman’s office? So, they verify all your documents and call USCIS to ask for expedite in your behalf?
Hey, yes it worked for me. A job offer is a very important document for the EAD expedite. My first EAD was expedited through a Congressman who sent my job offer letter to the USCIS; it took around two weeks. The second time (EAD renewal after VAWA was submitted), I contacted the Ombudsman and my employer sent him a letter asking to issue the work permit because I would lose my job if the work permit expires and they did not have anyone else who could work on the project. It took two months! I would definitely advise to contact the congressman.
First, you have to find a congressman representing your area. https://ziplook.house.gov/htbin/findrep_house Second, send them a short e-mail using a contact form on their website, describe your case when sending them this e-mail. They will also ask you to sign a privacy release form which can be found on their website. Then, after sending an e-mail, call them in a day or two if they don't get back to you! GOOD LUCK!
You can also contact the senator but they are quite busy and it usually takes more time for them to get to your case.

Hello everyone, I've been reading your posts and it helps a lot in dealing with my anxiety and sadness. I need your opinion please. My mom had a mini stroke two weeks ago and I was extremely worried as she had to have medications for treatment and health maintenance back in my home country. Also, I wanted to help out financially even if I can't go home to see her which makes me extremely desperate to seek for solutions. I have asked my lawyer before about my case that an employer wanted to hire me and is willing to send me a job offer letter but I was turned down by my lawyer. According to him, my EAD should come in summer soon and that expediting doesn't really do anything to my case. Now that my mom had the stroke, I am desperate and sad that I couldn't do anything to help her esp with her treatment and medications. Will her medical problem help in expediting my case to receive the EAD? Please help me, I need all your experiences and suggestions.
Expedite!!! Write to your congressman and ask for help with the expedite if you have a job offer letter. I had two EADs (one based on the previous marriage petition and another one was a renewal after submitting VAWA) and I expedited both via either a congressman or ombudsman. Waiting is not an answer with USCIS. In my experience, expediting with the Congressman's help was always faster

Laugh = great; contract = bummer.
Follow what Sandra says, then.
I'd be inclined to tell the guy that I'm countersuing because of the incompetently completed I-485.
Or, say innocently, "Didn't you get our letter in which we told you that you're fired?"
Remember, too, that 99% of all lawyers give the rest of them a bad name.
Thanx - he is just such an arrogant and disgusting person. I am surprised people like that can be immigration lawyers.....

Was your signature on a written contract -- were you involved in contracting for his services? If not, I would be inclined to do the following: tell him to take a long walk off a short pier (actually, tell him that you're not the financially responsible party) and tell him to stop contacting you. If he calls after that, tell him that you're reporting him to the police for harassment and to the State Bar for violation of professional ethics.
If, however, your signature IS on a written contract, that's a different matter, and Sandra here can best advise you. In fact, if Sandra's advice contradicts mine here, do what she says, not what I recommend.
Thank you! you made me laugh lol
Unfortunately, my signature is on it. I wasn't really that knowledgeable about lawyers before i came here.
That lawyer made so many mistakes on I-485 that my current lawyer had to file a new form.......

Hi Everyone!
I am looking for advice here. My ex hired a lawyer who was to represent us. This lawyer is now demanding money from me because he wanted to attend the interview with us. He is calling obsessively, is there anything I can do to fight this? I am pretty sure he is in touch with my ex.

Hello guys, please I need help.
I am pretty desperate, Idk what to do......
I've applied for an SSN card a month ago as I got my EAD category C31 through approved VAWA. I have my approval notice and deferred action as well.
Today I've called Social Security Office to verify why is taking them so long and I've been told that they made 3rd attempt already to confirm my immigration status and they haven't gotten any response. In addition to my frustration lady on a phone said, if they won't get any response by the end of this week they will mail me a letter where it will be said that they couldn't verify my status and I am not eligible for SSN. 😶 I mean, how come??????? Really?!!!!
I have taken a job offer already and can't set up a payroll because I don't have SSN.
Has anybody experienced something like that?
My friend from work had a similar issue. Immigration doesn't respond in time. My friend waited for more than 5 months for USCIS to respond to the SSN office. I would advise you to contact your local congressman - they are usually quite helpful! Good luck and I hope you get your SSN soon!
