I am not sure honestly. I mean they must do because theres no way you would have the original as it is supposed to be either given to them (usually sent to them or handed in at the port of entry) in a sealed envelope.

I have just managed to book my new medical exam for November 11th, so hopefully I get the results back in time for me to send the response for the RFE. 🤞🏽

Just gotta be patient and hope everything all comes together finally. I’ve known & loved my husband for 7 years so this last hurdle is nothing in the grand scheme of things! 🙂

    It will all work out!!!

Yes, unfortunately they did. I waited 6 weeks after the interview for them to find it like the guy said he would try to do and then I got an RFE letter requesting I redo it or send my old results. I spoke to London and that’s not possible so I’m trying to schedule a new one. Just haven’t been able to get hold of anyone so far! 🤷🏽‍♀️
i am glad you were able to do it all without problems. Apparently it is becoming more common that the medical are misfiled or lost but occasionally they do show up. Some people on the forum have had theirs found which is positive! 🙂

Hi! This is so unfortunate, that they lost your medical that is. I hope it gets sorted out soon.

Do you know if they accept copies of medical? I have everything copied.

It looks like it is more and more common for them to lose these documents.

    Good luck!

Still waiting. It's not changed from March. 😕 At least this is giving my husband time to find a new job. If he hasn't by the time we're scheduled would our backup sponsor need to come to the interview or just bring paperwork?

Hi! We are scheduled on November 9, and it does not look like my husband is going to find a new job until then.

They require pay stubs for 3 months anyway. Even if he does find a job, it will most likely be too fresh.

As far as I know, the co-sponsor does not need to come to the interview. We plan to just bring the signed affidavit.

    Good luck!

As an update to those still waiting for interview, of the cases that I'm tracking over the past 3 days I've seen 9 i485 interviews scheduled who have been waiting on "ready for interview" since April. It seems they're getting to us finally just a little more patience ..

    That sounds encouraging!

I have been waiting since March - when they canceled my interview for April. Fingers crossed!

Same here. Our ready to be scheduled is now at 141 days. But we are happy he has his EAD, SSN and DL now. The GC is just the final step but no rush.

I am now just concerned with later this year needing to renew the EAD. If he got it late May. Should he renew it around December? Or earlier? I remember reading it takes a while to process the renewal.

I got mine late May, too. I am thinking late November should be ok to renew. This is what I am planning to do at least.

All the best of luck to you, guys.

    Hello,

Went for my interview yesterday, the IO said i was approved and was telling us about the process after the next two years. My status is still the same as Interview was scheduled. He said it would take about 2-3 weeks to receive the GC.

The IO asked questions based on the form I-485 and asked if we had extra documents than what we submitted

We added our tax returns transcripts which showed Married Filing Jointly, Health Insurance, Bank statements and recent photos.

Sorry to inform you guys this,

He was also telling us about how they would be furloughed at the end of the month. About 2/3rds  (75%) of USCIS employees would be affected if their funding is not approved. We told him we are sorry about that and we would pray for him.

    Congratulations!!!!

If they furlough 75% of their workforce, it will take years for the rest of us to get GC.

My interview in April was canceled and  it has been 150 days of my status being rolled back to Ready to Schedule.

At this point, I am just happy to have EAD and a driver's license.

We filed taxes jointly back in March. My husband got his cheque but I didn’t get one and didn’t think we could get them as non-resident alien spouses? That’s encouraging to know!

Im sure it’s just the boost you guys need at this really difficult time! ❤️

As far as I understand, if you have SSN and you file taxes jointly with your husband, you get your stimulus after you file your taxes.

Yeah! We got it yesterday. I was wondering if it was a mistake, and then it posted fully today after pending yesterday. I guess after we filed in July, they reconciled the face that we were married and was owed the $2400. It was a pleasant surprise that I Hope was not a mistake. Happy to know we were not the only ones. 😅

Same here. Got it  beginning of June.

Hey, so we're currently waiting for our interview to be scheduled.

Due to all the covid stuff my husband has been laid off.

Does this mean that he can no longer be my sponser? Or will they kinda look at things differently due to the covid stuff?

Or... should I stop over thinking it and wait till we get a date for the interview, hoping he'll have a new job by then (though i doubt that's super easy right now)?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi! Same situation here.

No idea when they are going to schedule my interview either. The first one was cancelled due to COVID.

Right now everything is up in the air and my husband and I decided to wait and see. A family member agreed to co-sponsor, that will hopefully help.

    Hang in there! Tough times...

We did ours by mail because we had no choice. They said my husband wasn’t in the system as well. For clarification, did you end up doing it by mail or is the miracle that eventually a new card showed up without making a request?

I’m interested to know how long the mailing process takes. They received everything last Wednesday, so we are in wait mode. The blessing is that he was hired for a position with only having his EAD and they will just process him fully in the system when the SSN arrives.

I did not send anything by mail. My first social security card was lost and I do not trust the mail anymore. Not with all of my IDs.

I requested a social security card when I was filing my AOS package, because at that time I did not have it. And now it finally came. Just took almost a month. I called it a miracle, because I was not counting on it at all.

Congratulations on your husband getting a job! Not easy nowadays. I am still struggling.

They are only doing special circumstances for appointments. Ours was considered one due to needing it for work. It was a weird experience. We had to wait by the guard’s desk the whole time at a table. The SS employee came down and took his documents upstairs and then came back with the SS form and said we would get a card within 2 weeks. It came in a little less than a week later.

Are they not doing any special appointments?

    This is interesting.

My local social security office does everything by mail. I needed to change my name on my card, and I did not want to send all my IDs by mail. I did not feel comfortable doing that all.

My new social security card arrived in the mail yesterday. I called the office shortly after I got my EAD, and asked them if my new card was being issued (I requested it when I was filing my AOS package). They said they did not see anything in the system.

    This is a miracle, I say :)

oh no ! sorry to hear that, i hope you can find a new sponsor or your husband can get something prior to interview... at this rate it could take a while til we get to that stage which might actually work out for you.

Thank you! We have a co-sponsor, but we are just generally concerned about our livelihood now. As far as I understand, he can file for unemployment claiming me as his dependent, and it will not be considered to be public charge.

It is just depressing. We have no idea when either one of is going to find a job.

I think there will be a backlog of 3 months of so, based on when they started canceling previously scheduled interviews. This is actually good for us right now.

    Hard times for everyone.

haha yeah ive had that since March ive pretty much given up hope of it happening now

    I hear ya.

    I had some hope.

My husband lost his job and consequently I lost my sponsor. So, I will have to address that when my interview is rescheduled. Whenever that is.

Ah, well. At least I have my EAD and I am able to look for a job.

Unemployment compensation is not a public charge issue. No worries there.

His ability to be your sponsor, if still unemployed, obviously can be impacted. But unless you get an RFE/RFIE for the I-864, that's likely not a worry for quite some time (and only if the IO wants to see a new I-864).

    Hello.

Is this safe then for  my husband (USC), who lost his job,  to claim me as a dependent when applying for unemployment benefits?

I have read the official source   but it does not specifically address that.

    Thanks

i dont think they have for quite a while at this point. Im tracking around 100 i-485s since late March and theyre all stuck on "ready to be scheduled for an interview" so theres been no movement outside 1 or 2 approvals such as Sarge - but even that was over a month ago now i think. Since then reports of interview waivers for marriage based i-485s have been extremely limited, Ive seen maybe 3 or 4 reports across many different immigration websites.

I dont know why they suddenly would waive people once they reopen, it would seem more likely they would have waived people while they were closed.

I agree. It was just wishful thinking :)
