anyone that was planning on traveling outside the u.s.
my wife and i went back to thailand 2 weeks ago to have a wedding ceremony over there with her friends and family.
things were not too bad. flying was great, 25-50% full flights. hell, i was even able to lay down in the middle 4 seats of our flight from NRT to SEA.
the bad things. we had to cut our wedding/honeymoon vacation short. we went to DMK for our flight to the Maldives on wednesday. got to the gate, waited, then the airline said Maldives was closed. then 30 mins later they said, we can fly you there, but we are not responsible for if they do not let you enter the country, and you have to find your own return flight...f'ing air asia, they are terrible.
so we left the airport, my wife so upset, it was her dream to go to Maldives. we had a nice, over water bungalow at this resort and everything.
we take a taxi back to the hotel we stayed at the night before near the airport. the driver said that BKK may be closing.
so my wife gets our return to the u.s flight changed from next week to the 19th. we paid extra, and instead of our honeymoon followed by a few extra days in the land formerly known as Siam, we left back to the states.
her parents were going to come back from where they live to the city my wife and her siblings live this weekend to see us before we left thailand. but because we left before we were supposed to, fairly hastily, she could not see her parents. we did have dinner with her siblings and one of her best friends though.
so kind of sucked. we are back home, which is nice. but still fighting with the; airline, resort, for our refunds. they are being dicks about it. airline said "we said we would fly you there(after they said maldives closed and they would not pick us up after they dropped us off if we chose to risk it) so they do want to refund the entire ticket prices. they even told the agency we purchased through, that it was a miscommunication. but it was their miscommunication, not ours. air asia said that they couldnt fly to maldives after we checked in and were waiting at the gate. 40 mins later they said, they would fly us there but then we are on our own, which is b.s.
the resort is fighting refunding us because they said, other islands and resorts are closed, not theirs...for now. ras centara. but if we cant leave, then what?
i believe this would be easier to deal with if they were american companies, or if we purchased a package through costco.
good luck, choke dee, ingats, anyone else who had plans

hello everyone,
my wife got approved for advance of patrol and got her work permit card. what does she needs to bring if she wants to travel outside the US?
thanks!
the ap card (or combo ap/ead card) and her passport. if you get a flight, make sure her information is the same that's on her passport. If she changed her name after you married. bring a copy of the marriage certificate. so they will know why her passport and combocard have different last names

had Green card interview part 2 on friday. Interviewer asked my wife every yes/no question from i-485. they only asked me like 3 questions.
she said she was going to approve my wife's GC, and stamped her passport for our up coming trip to take the place of her ead/ap combo card. Just in case the GC doesnt show up before our trip.
The status check still shows the case must be reviewed. but i guess thats normal.
Corona, you can't stop us now, tonight we're on the loose

Tomorrow is the big day. GC interview. We made our list, checked it twice. We will see if the Interviewing government agent will be nice.
I know my in-laws nicknames, pronouncing their actual names will be the tough part.
Well, we got about 5 minutes into the interview, when the interviewer suggested we come back with a translator. my wife speaks, reads, writes english. But some of the words and the wording of those questions confused her,or she just didn't know the words. We will go back next friday to try again.
the interviewer was stern with me when she asked a question directed toward my wife and i began to answer.
the interviewer mentioned, it was hard to understand my wife because of her smile direct aligners. i said, "well, good thing our insurance paid for half of it"
when we were leaving, she said, "we will go over these questions again with a translator, then just check your evidence of relationship". i said, your hands on the album right now, there's 104 pictures in there. then she said something making it seem like that she saw the album, and that i mentioned insurance for my wife's teeth make her know this is a Bonafide relationship and she will stamp my wife's passport so we can go have our ceremony in Thailand net month.
I'd feel better if we just got this out of the way, but we need to wait 8 more days now.
my wife feels bad because she feels she failed because she couldn't understand everything and we have to come back

i was just doing my taxes. kind of confused about the resident or non-resident alien. we were married for more than 50% of the year. she had her ssn for half the year (kind of, oh there was a fiasco). but she didn't have her Ap/EAD card until november. so i hope i can file as married. The instructions mention the Green Card test. but k1 is a bit different than someone just trying to move here as single or married in their home country.
Do any of you have any info about this?

NIce job E & M.
and from earlier, Yes, living in many parts of CA is not worth it. I lived in the Bay Area for 11 years. Where a 1 bedroom condo in a below average neighborhood goes for 1/2 a million.
taxes are high, lots of traffic, and Patrick Bateman...wait, sorry, Gavin Newsome, figures misdemeanors do not need to be prosecuted. It's only a matter of years until Snake Plissken has to go there to retrieve the presidents daughter.
I'm glad I left last year.

So, its been 70 days since my wife's case was changed to "read for interview to be scheduled" or whatever.
since then, we received her ead and ap card. she got a job, and drivers license...it has been about 140 days since her biometric.
our office was averaging 121 days from bio to interview. we did get a rfe back in September. although, her status changed to ready for interview 2 weeks after we sent in the request for additional evidence.
i guess we just wait more for that GC interview. atleast, she has been able to move on like she 's allowed to be here

my wife and i are setting up our flights, wedding arrangements, and honeymoon now that she got her AP/EAD combo card. But now i wonder. When we book the flights, Do we use her maiden name that's on her home countries passport, or do we used her married name on the ap card...
maybe because the ap card is just needed to re-enter the u.s, we should use her maiden name. then just bring some of the paper work with us when we fly back into sfo or seattle.
maybe with in the next 3 months, she will actually get her greencard, but we will still have the same issue(married vs maiden name)
anyone go overseas yet?
