  1. Thanks for the info. My wife signed the 129f and our marriage certificate in Thai. I suggested maybe she will sign in thai and english on documents from now on.

We just applied for her social security card. it will get in a few weeks we hope. we elected to wait until after we married to apply for her ssn. although, her arrival is not yet updated in SAVE. the social security office worker did all are paper work and stated she will check periodically to see when SAVE updates, then submit our paperwork.

We just need to make sure all our paperwork is correct and we will send it in...

Does anyone know if its better to wait to get the ssn before submitting the AOS paperwork, or just send the AOS and don't worry about the ssn for now?

  3. in my state, if the finace does not have a ssn, you need to go to the social security office to get a letter that states why they do not have a ssn yet. then bring that to the county clerk to be able to get a marriage license.

so for us. we have to go to the ss office to get that letter. go to the county clerk to get a marriage license. get married. then go back to the ss office and apply for a ss card, now with her new married last name

  4. Kittyanne,

If you are in Sac, I suggest asking your husband to take you to the bay area. If you go to MIlpitas, Union City or Daly City. You will see many many Pinoys there. Maybe easier to get some Pinoy food. although, i do remember there is a Filipino restaurant in Sacramento that is in a weird location. like where commercial offices are. A place where you never see restaurants. They had decent Longanesa and topsilog...

    just fyi

My fiancée arrived at IAH Friday! Extremely Easy POE and fast immigration interview for her! So happy we are together now! Thanks again everyone!!!

congratulations. you are ready to proceed with your life.

the heat and humidity of your area of texas will be similar to what she's used to.

if she doesn't see feels she does not see enough asians, you can just go down the road to China...bad joke 😞

make sure you have GMA or TFC for her. take some trips to Houston for Red Ribbon or jollibee.

you want to keep her from getting Tampo.

@Greenbaum @DanielPlainview Can either of you guys (or anyone else) give me some advice on Miami POE for my fiancé? He is flying into Miami and his flight arrives at 11:30 AM and his next flight leaves for Chicago at 4:58 PM. Will this be a safe enough layover for immigration?

5 hours should be enough time.

by the time he gets off the plane and gets to immigration poe, it would only like, noon, or just after noon. boarding to chicago wouldnt start until after 4pm. so, 3-4 hours to get though immigration should be enough.

Good info on the AOS.   In Thailand, we mail in packet 3 with the i-134 and tax transcript before we ever get to the interview, so you'd  hope they have made the financial determination well in advance of the interview. Why they request another tax transcript copy is beyond me, but I'm guessing it's going to go the same way as yours.........they'll never look at it.

I've been supporting public charges since I was 14 years  old....certainly not looking to create more.

I know I'm in the minority on VJ but I don't think co sponsors should be allowed and the income requirements should be just a little higher. Immigration is not cheap. I truly wonder how some people manage it on a marginal income.

"i was pretty surprised when I started adding it all up, and then saw the bit about "yeah, if you're JUST above poverty guidelines, you're good to go".   I believe the potential for a public charge is exponentially greater in some situations."

this is what i was agreeing with. i know, hard to follow along. you can be as defensive as you want.

along the lines of what that once famous, albeit, terrible man said-

"If you cant feed your baby (yeah, yeah)
Then don't have a baby (yeah, yeah)
And don't think maybe (yeah, yeah)
If you can't feed your baby (yeah, yeah)
    You'll be always tryin'
To stop that child from cryin'
    Hustlin', stealin', lyin'
    Now baby's slowly dyin

  8. i believe you misread or did not understand my point. She wants to work as soon as she can. I am not calling her a leech. that was term was a call back to the earlier messages about meeting minimum poverty levels. and likelihood of someone becoming a public charge. if you need a sponsor to get above those minimum requirements, how can you expect to support someone else.

she will be going from a manager to a stay at home wife for sometime. she knows she will get bored.

  9. my fiance wants to start working as soon as possible. I make enough money, but it is her nature to not be lazy. also, she doesn't want to spend all day at home. she wanted to know if she could work even before she gets her greencard.

i do not like paying for other people to sit on their asses eating potato chips as it is. i dont want anymore of them leeching.

i got my first job as an 8/9 year old delivering penny savers in NY. no reason for able people to expect others to carry their load.

If she used her old account and changed the DS-160 number I am not well versed if that is going to stick or not. Others who ran into this problem with an old DS-160 were able to use these instructions below to have the "new" DS-160 linked to the old account allowing the person to continue without issue.

Some had just followed the link  https://cgifederal.secure.force.com/applicanthome clicked on "Provide Feedback" on the menu on the left, chose "Online system errors" on the "reason" drop down menu, wrote about the discrepancy in my new DS-160 application number and the schedule confirmation they sent me in the "comments" box, and attached a photo of my DS-160 application confirmation. 10 minutes later I got an email with the a schedule confirmation that had the new DS-160 application number.

    thanks Greenie

From my understanding you need to make sure you have only one profile showing all visa appts in your history. But check your ustraveldocs site and there should be a phone number to call. My fiance couldnt log in to his old profile from when he applied for his tourist Visa (had a different email), and they merged both of them and reset the password.

yes, it was similar to that. thanks Celie

she emailed then ended up calling and talked to someone that stated she had 2 accounts/profiles. she had both deleted. and started a new one.

printed the payment thing and went to the bank to pay it.

she says she needs to wait 1-2 days to print the g.s.s confirmation. then we will just wait for next tuesdays shipment. hopefully the embassy will have it by the 23rd or 25th. she will receive her police report maybe the 16th. so once the embassy has our application, she will send Packet 3 immediately.

oh travel visa's, giving us aneurysms
