Don't sweat the internal passport.  She will never need to show it to the airlines or passport control personnel.  She only needs the internal passport for such things as banking in Ukraine or obtaining any eligible government services.  Make sure you have COVID Insurance and know the entry requirements.  Visit Ukraine - INFORMATION PAGE FOR FOREIGN TOURISTS

Thank You. Didn't buy insurance, our insurance (Blue Cross) has international coverage and has offices in Kyiv. I figure worst case I have to buy insurance when we land in Ukraine.

Your wife should be able to call the Ukranian embassy in the US to seek clarification.

I think the "internal passport" is more like an ID card and should not have much say on entering the country.

Btw your daughter will need an US passport to come back to the states. As far as I know the birth certificate will be not enough.

Those were my thoughts also and our daughter has her passport. Thanks.

  3. Hello.

My wife and I are finally heading back to Ukraine after nearly 3 years from entry. And the great news is we get to bring our 20 month old daughter to meet with my wife's family. My question is my wife has her 2 year GC, Ukrainian International Passport but her Domestic UA Passport has expired. I don't think it should be a issue but last minute nerves are getting the best of me. We will be bringing both of her passports, Green Card, Marriage Cert, Daughters Birth Cert and my wife's NY Drivers permit.

Going through Newark, Warsaw and Lviv airports.

Does anyone have any experience or knowledge with this?

    Thanks, Gary

It confused me too at first as I kept expecting some sort of physical package with all sorts of documents.

Not exactly sure, to this day, why everyone keeps on referencing packets since it varies depending on country.

So for Ukraine what people are referring to:

Packet 3 - An email from the NVC to petitioner/beneficiary (whomever's email is on file)stating that they've sent off your case to the corresponding embassy.

Packet 4 - An email from the the embassy to petitioner/beneficiary (whomever's email is on file) with instructions on how to schedule an interview and all the things that are required prior to the interview.

They send  both a digital and the physical copy. I confirmed this by asking the NVC directly.

Digital copy gets there almost instantaneously while the physical copy takes a little more than a week so make sure to schedule your interview at least two weeks out, minimum, from the time that the NVC sends out the email (Packet 3) as they won't conduct the interview if they haven't actually received the physical copy of your case.

So the packets everyone is talking about are just emails (applicable to US Embassy in Ukraine).

    Hope that clears things up!

We did receive the pysical letter from the NVC this past Friday 2/8/19. The letter was written 12/26/2018. We already completed all steps and visa was approved nearly 3 weeks before we received the physical letter.

I logged on into my profile, so there is no visible receipt number on it, but if you have entered it once when trying to schedule the interview, it is stored somehow and automatically retrieved when necessary.

If I remember correctly I was able to view it somehow on our ustraveldocs.com account. I know you can see the receipt number in the appointment history tab, I just checked ours but we already completed the interview process.

    A tip for others.

We did schedule online at http://www.ustraveldocs.com

We looked at the days available. Originally we were going to take a 1/29 appointment but we didn't, she wanted to check her work schedule. The next day we checked again and 1/22 was available and we scheduled this day.

All I can guess is a appointment was cancelled. So I think when a cancellation happens you can see them online.

You can also see the amount of appointments available for each day (this gives you a mental picture of how fast things are moving). There was plenty of appointments available for the weeks of 1/27 & 2/3, we weren't worried about waiting a day or two to schedule our appointment.

Well I should know soon if she was approved, then I will book the flights. I will be heading over there so we can close out some business and spend some time with her family, not sure how long it will be until we can go back.

I typically fly LOT or Lufthansa, I will probably do the layover in Poland again. I done it so many times the past couples years I can almost do it blindfolded now.

    @Shiran

LOT over the pond is typically a 787 Dreamliner. Almost 2 dozen flights with LOT, I really can't complain. One time a had a flight cancelled (ridiculous story) and I had to spend a night in Warsaw.

  7. We found a hotel we like near Medicom (Medical Exam) about a 15-20 minute taxi ride to the embassy. Again Thank you, a little over a year ago we got a apartment in Lviv (love this city). I always fly from Newark/Warsaw/Lviv. I will have to check one way from Kiev. Thats the next thing I worry about, will there be a problem with flight transfer if I go Lviv/Warsaw/Newark.
