If at this very early stage (where she has not even arrived in the USA) you already have reason to lose trust in her word, then you have bigger problems than just a few hundred dollars visa fee to be honest. When trust is gone, everything crumbles and it is even worse in cross national relationships. I sincerely hope it is just a miscommunication between the two of you and not the beginning of a pattern of lies.

Technically, the USC in this case, as sponsor to a sponsored immigrant, is also supposed to notify USCIS about moving to another address. Back in the day when we moved we had to file I-865 on paper to do this. It's possible that this can be done online now.

The OP said they already file for ROC last october 2018 and the husband is USC and hes the one that moving out/change address. Just a common sense,im sure its not their intent to separate after few months that they submit ROC.
@Going through comment is a complete package of explanation/advice about the OP situation..he maybe say something that you disagree with but he gave a detailed opinion.
    Just saying.

In my circles, I have had to on a few ocassions mediate between mothers in law and daughters in law. Indeed some marriages have not been able to recover from the tension and collapsed. Don’t do it is what I tell everyone. Sharing a house with mother in laws rarely ends well.

if however they won’t live with you, it’s a different situation. My experience is however that after a few months they yearn for the life they had in their own country. It gets really boring and lonely for old folks who relocate to the USA. Visiting is better methinks. My parents have no interest.

Any way you try to slice or dice it, most if not all USCIS officers will say you broke continuous residence. In addition to what @missileman has posted, determining breaks in continuous residence is a judgment call. To any reasonable adjudicator, someone was working in Canada (by his own admission) and visiting the USA, with multiple periods outside of 30/40 days and a couple of 150 days (was that correct) absences has broken continuous residence.

F-1 status is not terminated for lawfully working on campus or via CPT. I also hate the 'I didn't know the rules' excuse and if he is already up against a difficult adjustment, claiming ignorance is not going to fly. I still stand by my comment that he should not say that during this process.
You are right, it is not up to us to determine the legitimacy of documents. And I gave my advice.
    Good luck

Well you either have your passport, or you don’t. In your case you do not have it so you use the substitute and hope you don’t get stopped, or that when you’re stopped they let you off easy.

If the application money is not much to you, you can apply and hope it gets approved. Probability is low however you only lose the money. Because you had a reentry permit they will not say you abandoned your green card. Note that taking a job outside the USA can also be viewed as abandoning your permanent residentce status unless it’s for a USA company that meets certain criteria. In that case a reentry permit will not save you.

Pesonally with all these potential complications and the current unforgiving immigration environment, just use the 2 years plus 1 day rule if you’re married to a citizen or 4 years plus 1 day rule if not married to a citizen.

Don't pull that card. You got called out. This has nothing to do with negativity, judgmental, without compassion etc. On the contrary people on VJ are very compassionate and caring when they read about abuse. There is no case for VAWA from what we have read. Filing fraudulent charges against people is unethical and an abuse of the system.

People seem to just throw VAWA into the mix casually whenever a marriage fails under contentious circumstances. A miscarriage and cheating are not grounds for VAWA under any definition. No surprise there’s a groundswell of a movement to modify it because clearly it’s being abused, and sometimes used to destroy the life of an innocent spouse.

I may be an immigrant however I don’t condone trying to punish and destroy a US Citizen ex via domestic violence accusations and VAWA because a marriage fails. That’s malicious. Marriages fail, a lot. That’s the nature of the beast.

You know what I like about doing the immigration the correct way?
We ( her and I ) don't look over our sholders every day.
We do not have to worry who's at the front door.
We do not worry if we get pulled over by police in a traffic stop.
People who have illegally immigrated to the U.S. spend the rest of their lives dealing with those issues.

As I say I don't condone it but this one-sided hate now being shown is hypocritical
did he just found out this morning ...I don't think so, but jealousy is a devils
paradise, U R no paragon of virtue, U should have reported it B4 now not when
your wife process is being drawn out, so the reason behind your thoughts to now
report don't make U anything but an aider.
Everyone doing the wrong thing should be accountable however, not out of jealousy but
the right reason, many here told lies,& was at one time themselves illegal. I was born here

Jihana, you are so full of wisdom! Clearly, this guy has chosen to table his domestic issues in a public forum such as this. Worse still, he's giving us a one-sided story. We have a saying here that, only a wicked person would sit as judge on a one-sided story. If your tired of your room mate, go get another apartment! What's the big idea bringing her family issues to a public forum? Ok, let's say she go deported, how does that help your own case @ the USCIS. Ever considered what might happen to her children & grand kids, just coz your hating? Quit hating!

I'm not condoning what she is SUPPOSEDLY doing however
the excuses U make about the back of the line although truthful
U harbor & got benefits from her as a room-mate, Its one thing to
want to do right it another when Judas-priest sets in.
What does it matters for you to come on a forum talking about her
son who has done nothing to U, how do U know she and her ex
don't want to make another go at things and straighten out her
papers....I cant judge U, but from the words of your mouth you
prove to be not a great person to call friend...what if they arrest
U for harboring her , would you like it? Live & let live, sometimes
you got to let go and let god...bad thinking on New Years day
