@Toastbear some countries do it that way, I’m from the Philippines and when I got married my last name when I was single now becomes my middle name after I got married.

@JMCKNG I sent my package Nov 6, got my text notification Nov 18, got the NOA in the mail Nov 23; Nov 26 I got my biometrics appointment. Dec 4 I had my biometrics.

@gaski no I’m not a K1, that’s why I did 130 and 130A along with aos. But yeah I don’t know why they send back his aos. Coz I also paid 1225 for it.

Yeah I know, I’m just saying that I did 130 so I did the 585 along with 1225 for aos. @gaski

Yeah that is strange coz I sent my aos nov 6 with that exact amount. I did 130 also which is 585.My husband wrote two checks one for 585 and one for 1,225. So not sure why they sent it back to you.

@Gem&Corey the medical test is not more than a year right? As far as I know you don’t need to do another medical test. 

@Tokenfreak don’t worry, you’ll get it soon enough. There is a good chance you’ll get your text notification by the end of this week. Once they cash in the check not soon after that you’ll get your text notification

You are very welcome. You’ll get something in the mail soon enough. After you get the hard copy in the mail, normally the next one you’ll get is your biometrics appointment letter.

The biometrics case number is the same for I-485, the next you’ll get is a hard copy of those receipt which is the form I-797 notice of action.

@TogoAfrica yes the form that you sent along with the I-485 I the one for work permit. And you can check your status online on the USCIS website under check case status. When you got the text did you receive a bunch of letters and numbers? That is your case number

I’m not familiar with L-1 visa, but what I know is that once you submitted your AOS that you can’t travel abroad unless you have your AP. and leaving without an AP is abandoning your AOS application.

1. If you are filing for your spouse, he or she must complete and sign Form I-130A, Supplemental Information for Spouse Beneficiary. If your spouse is overseas, Form I-130A must still be completed, but your spouse does not have to sign Form I-130A. Form I-130A must be submitted with Form I-130.

@Tokenfreak yeah don’t worry,it will be the same. And you might be surprise once you get your NOA thru text, coz once you get your case number and try to check it on the website it might tell you that they got your paper work way ahead than what the delivery date said. Mine said that my package got deliver Nov 12, and yet on the USCIS website it says they got my paper work Nov 9.

@Tokenfreakdon’t worry it will get delivered. Mine said that too at first and then a day after it says delivered. 

I’m glad that got resolved and yes it sucks. Like I said when I checked the tracking it says it got delivered Nov 12 and yet USCIS said they got my forms Nov 9. 

Yeah wait a little bit, the same thing happened to me. I sent my package Nov 6 and it’s supposed to arrive in Chicago Nov 8 but it never did and I also got the same message when I would check my tracking number. It finally got delivered Nov 12. The weird thing is when I got my notification thru text on the 18th and I check my case on the USCIS website it says that they received my paper work Nov 9. So yeah confusing but the package didn’t get lost. Have you check if the check has been cashed? Minded got cashed Nov 16 and night of Nov 18 I got my text notifications

Your Philippine passport you mean? No, when will your passport expire? You can renew your passport here, but before you do you need to do the report of marriage and there they will see that you did a name change based on your marriage certificate. 

I’m a Filipina, but I only have one name, so when I got married what was once my middle name, which is my moms middle name got dropped and my dads last name is now my middle name and my husbands last name as my last name. Just like what @ben&zian said you really didn’t have to change it you could have just put Sharmaine Mari ( your dad’s last name) Miranda. When you apply for your AOS use the new name you have on your marriage certificate.

@JMCKNG I saw the payment go thru before I got text messages. The payment went thru Nov 16 and got text messages Nov 18 and got the notification on the mail Nov 23. Biometrics appointment letter came Nov 26. So you should be okay time wise
