  1. My wife obtained her citizenship this February and received her passport already. The original certificate of citizenship was either never returned or was lost in the mail. I only retained photocopies.

I want to get her daughter a passport instead of going through the naturalization process. Will the passport office accept my wife's passport as proof of citizenship and the photocopy of the naturalization certificate, or are we out of luck and need to get a 2nd copy and pay $500

  3. I am helping with the application, I realize it is her responsibility. A BCC has a 25 mile limit to cross the border, but you can get an I94 for 6 month intervals to go beyond thought. My question is if a BCC is automatically given to Mexican residents for a B2 visa? Since she would like to travel 2-3 times a year, I thought a B2 only had short expiration window. I would prefer something that has a longer term. I believe BCC's are 10 years.

  4. I am starting the process for my mother-in-law to get a tourist visa to visit here (my wife is conditional GC holder, I am USC). I would prefer that she get a bcc so she can come back and visit several times without having to go through the visa process again. I am confused on the application if I need to do both a B2 and a BCC, or just a BCC or B2 alone. I am getting conflicting information that Mexican residents automatically get a BCC when applying for a B2.

    Thanks

Congratulations! Weirdly all of a sudden none of my case statuses are coming back online now, nor when I call. The automated system on the phone just says there was a problem retrieving my case information, and online it just comes back blank. Anyone else seeing the same?

This has been happening to me on my tracker app and sometimes on a browser. I got the approval 2 days after it started but i think it is just a fluke. I thought that maybe it was an indication someone was touching the file. Who knows.

We attended our interview last Friday in San Bernardino, CA. I am awaiting to upload a full report until all is resolved. Immediately we were informed at the interview that my wife's medical was missing from the file and they had ordered a copy from the National Records Center. The IO indicated his approval of her application pending receipt of the medical file. However, the whole interview experience was quite strange. He said he reviewed our file the day before and noticed it was missing, so obviously they check them out in advance. The IO didn't ask for a single financial document or pictures, just birth/marriage/divorce certificates. I am hoping his indication of approval is true. He said if they cannot locate the record, she will have to redo the medical at a civil surgeon. I am a little disappointed that it is lost, and I assume it was lost at POE because of the experience we had. I assume there is little chance the National Records Center has it. So I have to wait probably a month or more to get an RFE, submit the medical exam and wait for approval again. I paid a lot of money for the exams and vaccinations in Mexico, so hopefully they won't have to be redone. Hoping for the best, expecting the worst.

Wanted to give quick update. Last night the casetracker app changed to new card being produced.  Today it changed to case approved. I'm assuming we are all clear and hoping the green card will be on it's way soon.

What do you do with it??

The IO said he requested a copy from National Records. If they don't have a copy, we will have to do the medical again here. He also said the expiration date of the exam was 2 days after the interview (6 months from date of the exam, he even showed me the internal USCIS worksheet for this). Even though you don't have to redo a medical from one year if submitted, he told me that he needs supervisor approval to get past that point (assuming they find a copy). I didn't feel it was appropriate to argue/debate this at the time. Pretty crazy. I don't have faith National Records has a copy, I assume it was lost at POE. Just waiting for a RFE or approval now.

  9. My wife recently received her EAD card, so we went to the Social Security Office to apply for a SSN card. They filed the application but said that USCIS has my wife's maiden name in the system. The EAD card has her married name on it, and everything for AOS was submitted with her new married name. They said he had to send it  back to USCIS to verify the name change. How is this possible? I did a SAVE check and there is a pending case open.

Hi there..  Sometimes they don't update the website I believe.  We filed in Mar 1 and in Apr 19, I received my EAD (combo card)  but in the website it is still showing case was received. It's okay..  :)

Since I am a glutton for punishment, I decided to check the old egov site today, and it says updated May 6 Ready to Schedule and Interview. Who would have thought, the old site never updated for me during the K1 process.

  11. Wanted to let everyone know that my fiance crossed the border at San Ysidro POE/Tijuana on Saturday. We drove by car across from the apartment we share in Baja. We arrived at the line a little after 7am, then waited about an hour in line, then another 90 minutes in the office of CBP to get the paperwork processed. The people in the office really had a difficult time doing the paperwork because they didn't have much experience with a K visa. Although nerve wracking, there was never any real issue and everyone was very friendly. Since I cross the border several times a week with a SENTRI pass, I know the attitude of some of the CBP officers. After a few stops to eat and to visit my parents, we ended up getting married in a civil ceremony in Los Angeles (you can get married in LA county without going to the courthouse) around 6pm. We already have our marriage license copy (just waiting on the certified copy which takes 6 weeks).

    NOA1 June 4

    NOA2 November 30

    Interview January 29

    Marriage & arrival December 23

Thanks to everyone for their help...I spent countless hours researching and reading here. Now time for AOS.
