Maybe they approved a lot people who aren't on VJ so we have no way of knowing that

My NOA1 is Sept 6th, so I have little waiting to do. Really excited that end of July is already getting approved ! End of August/beginning of September approvals are almost here !

I'm so happy to see that things are going a bit faster than expected! and I really hope it continues, but I´m really trying not to get my hopes up and I will continue to count on the average 180 days, and to get it before would just be amazing!

For now, I'm just so excited and can´t wait to spend the holidays with my fiancé here in Denmark after a long time apart!
I hope everyone has an amazing Christmas with their loved ones and if spending it apart, it'll hopefully be the last one, and hopefully not so long into the new year we will all get some great news!

Thank you! Unfortunately, My Neil and I will be apart for the Holidays, once again, and we'll do what we have done each year. We'll celebrate twice! He is fifteen hours ahead of me, so we celebrate Christmas morning in Australia and the next day in New Jersey. We get to ring in the New Year two times! We're really doing our best to look on the bright side of it and anticipating doing it all together next year. Happy Holidays to everyone here!

It is definitely getting exciting as we see it getting so much closer! If all goes well, and it will, this will be the last holiday season we spend apart! Enjoy whichever one(s) you celebrate, and best wishes for all of us!

Alright Team September, how are we all holding up? Lots of July filers getting approved now, which means hopefully soon we'll start seeing August filers getting approved and then it'll be our turn! Wishing you all a very merry Christmas wherever you are in the world

Similar to Flynn G, got my approval today too. Exactly 5 months. Silent approval through email from USCIS.
Thanks to all the great tips from folks that I got through VJ and kudos to Greenbaum for his dedication and very helpful information. Hang in there folks, it is starting to open up and our thoughts are with you, our July VJ family, may everyone get the Christmas present that we are longing for.

900 and 1000 years to wait for an interview is about what it feels like I think.

Jo&Bob reacted to Scandi in Do I need a new medical??
General info for others who might stumble upon this thread:

If you you had your medical overseas and file for AOS within 1 year of your medical date, then you don't have to have another medical no matter how long it takes for your green card application to process. There is absolutely no information on USCIS website that tells otherwise.

If you had your medical done inside the US on the other hand (this is form i-693, one you don't have if you did your medical overseas), then you'll need another medical if your application takes longer than a year from when you submitted it.

It should be noted though, that even USCIS employees make mistakes or sometimes don't even know their own rules, and therefore asks for another medical when they shouldn't (for K-1ers for instance). Question is if you want to argue the case with them, or just comply with their wrongful request. Up to you.

My recommendation: do not get another medical unless they request one. If your case ends up with someone who knows what they're doing, then having another medical is a waste of both time and money.

Wow, I hope I don't get an RFE for the same thing.  My divorce decree was certified and signed by the clerk.  In the signature block it says "judge/assistant clerk" and there's no "pen to paper" signature, so the Judge or assistant clerk can sign this decree.   It's an electronic signature.  Looking at the FAQ's of Connecticut dealing with divorce decress the rules are an electronic signature has the same validity as a pen to paper signature.  I just hope whoever adjudicates my case knows this or at least looks this information up, lol.  So, did you have to contact the courts where you got your divorce and get a divorce decree with the actual Judge's pen to paper signature?

On the USCIS own website its only April filers, buuut still very exciting and happy news that May filers on VJ are getting approved!
Even though, we are still very early in the process and still have a long wait, then yes I actually agree a bit on that time flies!
I think it´s because it´s, despite the wait, a really happy time together, being engaged, plan the wedding and just enjoy the thought of soon finally being able to get married and start my life with my fiancé!

Different states have different marriage licenses/certificates. It doesn't matter if your state issues lisences where there's no space for "new name" or " married name", you still file AOS with your spouse's surname if that's the name you want to use. USCIS doesn't need anything else in regards to name change. Maiden name is then written under "other names used" on the i-485 form.

In California we can add our married name on the license and certificate, but like I said, not all states have it like that.

You do NOT want to file for AOS in your maiden name if you want to take your spouse's name. It'll cost you a hood $500 to have the name changed on the greencard afterwards.

And don't use a lawyer, it's very much wasted money. The AOS part is also several times easier than the i-129f/K-1 part was. Very, very easy to handle yourself.

It is definitely much easier to wait now that we're together. Don't care how long it takes now that I can be with him

I'm working through the AOS with a lawyer and I'm not sure how she is changing my name but when filing she is using my old passport information and my new name. Hope that helps a bit

    You're most welcome!
I wouldn't call myself lucky though. I actually didn't have another choice since there was only 4 appointments available and they were all within 1-4 weeks :) plus waiting times at the medical facility (also called the medical office like you said :) )is only about 2 weeks so hopefully you can find something quick too! It's also the only place you can go too. Of course I don't know if I was just very lucky with the interview appointment times 🤔
You gotta book an appointment with the x-rays clinic too. The clinic is only 2 streets away from the medical office so you can easily book the appointments on the same day. Though you do have to have your x-rays taken first before going to the medical office. They'll ask when your appointment is with the medical office when you call the x-ray clinic :)

And yes, I'm in the states! Finally married to the love of my life. Now it's time for AOS 😅

Hi all! So good to see some more progress for so many people!

Finally beginning to come down from cloud nine over here... we finally had our traditional Swedish American wedding reception at the beginning of the month and it was everything we wanted and better than what we ever could've imagined. Having his family here, in the states, WITH my family, is something we've only dreamed about all these years, and it was phenomenal. So much love in one room is pretty hard to describe. I have to say, I wasn't too thrilled, initially, with the idea of getting legally married first (when he first got here), and waiting to have a traditional wedding later, but it ended up working the best for us, I think. We were really able to look forward to and enjoy our day, and it just made everything feel that much more official.

Now, we are just waiting on his updated SSN card to arrive in the mail any time now.

Also - looks like EADs and APs have picked up. Even though our officer at the AOS interview told us those two applications will basically drop off, with the GC being approved, my VJ timeline has still been updating me on predicted adjudication for those, and it went from saying mid November as an estimation, to "Any day now!". So fingers crossed they are picking up across the board!!

Another Dane here who would like to help out

I filed back in December last year and received NOA2 early July. Had my medical scheduled for mid August and went to my interview 23rd of August.
    Had my POE early September

Though I did schedule everything as close together and as fast as I could. It is possible to do it even quicker if you got everything ready for your interview before receiving NOA2 and know exactly what to do when receiving it (talking about booking the medical and doing the DS-160).

I'll gladly help more too if you need it
