  1. ~~Moved to Working and Traveling During Immigration, from K1 P&P - as the OP is asking about traveling and working after entry on a K1 but before AOS is approved.~~
  2. Yes then you fill out the proper form. I cannot remember which form or if you do it online. Others will be able to help with that. I'm also going to move this thread to a better forum to help with replies. ~~Moved to General Immigration Discussion, from Off Topic. The OP is trying to do a change of address with USCIS.~~
  3. That would be great. Please let everyone know when you get the visa. It is possible the dates are different than thought.
  4. ~~Moved to IR1/CR1 P&P- the OP's fiancé is not inside the US and they are planning consulate processing.~~
  5. ~~Thread moved to Adjustment of Status K1/K3 P&P, from K1 Progress Reports- As the OP is asking multiple questions but most are for the AOS process.~~
  6. Except with assuming a married name is not the same as a court order name change. A legal name change with the courts is way different than assuming your spouse's name.
  7. We have also seen where the IO has denied the name change request and told them there is no need and just start using it.
  8. ~~Moved to General Immigration Discussion, from Bringing Family of USC- as the Topic is no longer about the visa process but arrival time for the GC.~~
  9. That is part of the reason I end up doing it. I'm already home all day long, but I have other things to do too Don't rush school. Another reason why I homeschool. So much more freedom. We don't live as far from my parents as PRG, but it was about that long between visits. It sucks too, the older boys haven't seen my parents in 12 yrs, my mom passed away last year and they weren't able to get up there. Four of us are going up there in a few weeks, then when we get back two of the older kids will head on up there too.
  10. I managed to get the front yard lawn cut. So far half the backyard is done. I need a break!!! Tell me again why the person with the most allergies and asthma is the one cutting the grass!!! The Hillbilly is lucky I like him If it wasn't for the major hill we live on the front yard would be doable for the Jedi, but I have managed to slide right into the road. So no way will I have the Jedi cut it.
  11. How old was the child when you married? How did they enter the US?
  12. Are you trying to inform USCIS of a change of address?
  13. ~~Moved to Moving to the US and Your New Life in America, from IR1/CR1 P&P - the OP is asking about SSN and opening a bank account.~~
  14. Happy Birthday Tbone hope you spoil yourself a little bit.
  15. It could be something as simple as once your email has been logged into the system, the system already knows you got the autoreply. So it saves you from being spammed with the same reply over and over.
  16. I'm happy your mom is starting to feel better. You know I was thinking about your food with that power outage. Some of the things you eat on a regular basis has probably given you an iron stomach. I bet it was hard tonight with Mini-B going on his trip. Big hugs 🤗
  17. Welcome back Niki, I hope you are fully re-energized from your vacation. I'm going to Canada in about 3 weeks.
  18. ~~Thread moved to Bringing Family of USC, from DCF- as this is not a DCF filing.~~
  19. ~~Hijack post on Zombie thread has been removed. Please start your own thread if you have questions about your own case.~~
  20. ~~Related threads merged. Please additional questions on this typic to one thread.~~
  21. You must remember most SS personnel have no clue how it works with immigration. They follow on screen prompts and enter things. Some like the person you experience is just a horrible person, there is no teaching them. I see you already have it straighten out which is good. I was going to suggest going to a new office. She was lucky to already have a ssn, there would have been almost no way to get it in her married name until GC or EAD. They need to match it up in the system and this hangs them up and instead of actually sending it in to verify they just deny it. Getting that very first social really needs to be done before marriage if married for the love of all, do not ever mentioned it. So many employees think that getting married nulls the visa and will refuse to continue with the application. This is why we always tell K1 visa entrants to get that ssc before anything else.
  22. Exactly, one can be on disability or welfare as long as the US citizen has the income it will not even be questioned. I was in those shoes. Now where the trouble could be is that being married the OP would also have to report the USC spouse's income and that may cause issues with disability(depending on the type of disability, plus it takes years for disability to be approved in most cases). This is one reason the fiancé visa is worth it.
  23. Oh I hope your power is back on soon. It's good you were able to keep the fridge and freezer running. I'm in the same train of thought. The guys getting the power back aren't the ones to get mad at. Hopefully ppl don't go off the far end. When our a/c needed replacing it was pretty brutal. Of course it died during the hottest part of the year. We only survived because of the pool. Far from the horror you all are going through though. Fingers crossed for some relief soon.
