  1. ~~Moved to What Visa DO I Need, from K1 P&P - as a K1 visa is not for this purpose.~~
  2. Hijack post has been removed. Poster already has an existing thread.~~
  3. ~~Moved to IR1/CR1 P&P, from Bringing Family of USC- As the OP will be starting the visa process for spouse and CR's for children.~~
  4. Well they can contract you out and then you do something that way. I don't know how that part works but that was something other members have done. Oh no they will treat you as a non resident to squeeze every last cent they can out of you. Especially when you sell that house.
  5. CRA will go by the date you cross the border to endorse the visa. That is the date you will mark on your exit taxes.
  6. We used to have a member who worked on the Canadian side of the border for CBP. She had to pay taxes for Health care and still could not use it. Now if your employer has the added on Dental you pay, you can use that as it is fully paid by your employer and you, but any health care cover add ons are supplemental and you can't use them. For taxes yes you would continue to pay for 2023 and 2024 but no you can't use the medical. They do not care if you continue to work in Canada and pay into the health care. Your residence would be in the US and that is what they go by.
  7. I'm not sure, I've just seen others say the employer needs to change your tax status.
  8. I'm sorry but that is not how it works and you can see why this causes so much confusion for Canadians. It's not like a work visa, or student visa. With even a K-1 Visa which is a non immigrant visa they consider you no longer a resident on the day you cross and get that visa endorsed. When you cross the border to endorse the visa you are no longer a resident of Canada, because that is the date you tell the US you are now a US PR. When you file your exit taxes you will mark the day the visa is endorsed. If you get baby bonus, whatever the GST is call now they all go by the date the visa is stamped. If you get any of those they will want their money back for that month and they will be the first to figure it out. The 212 days outside the US is for students and snowbirds, not someone who shows up at the border with a visa declaring that on this day you are a US PR. That is how they decide you are no longer a Canadian Resident. Over the years we have had many Canadians end up with a bill. I'm not making this up, it's experience and time on here that has proven otherwise.
  9. The day you enter the US you are a US PR and no longer a Canadian resident. For CRA they will be told when you file your taxes and mark your entry date on your tax returns. If your employer is willing to tax you as a non resident employee then yes. Make sure you also no longer use the Canadian health care system, even though you are taxed for it. As you will not be a resident of Canada and can no longer use the system. Yes it sucks as you will continue to pay for it. Now if your employer offers dental that is separate from Health Canada and you can use those benefits. If you have a house to sell it is best sell before your endorse your visa. The tax hit, and hassles from moving before the sale have been talked about year after year.
  10. Like everyone else here is saying. Meet do not get married at this first visit. Make the visit as long as you can. Spend as much time as possible with her friends and family too. Then go home and start planning and saving for another trip. With High fraud countries getting married the first trip together is a sure fire way to be denied. Especially if it is a short visit.
  11. As others have mentioned the medical cannot be done in the US. Only one hic-up here. Once your wife endorses her visa she is no longer a resident of Canada and cannot use the Canadian health care system. Many on here will disagree because if you called the Health Canada all you are talking to is the call center. They will read the part like students and snowbirds retain their health care. But once it reaches the ppl who investigate these things you will get a hefty bill, it's not fast but they are cracking down in this stuff and inforcing it. Don't do it. If she is really close do not endorse the visa and wait until baby is born. Then you will also have to do CRBA to bring baby into the US. You can add your wife on to your health care through your employer the minute she moves. Moving to be with a spouse is enough reason to add her on. They do not need her SSN, they might give you a hard time but they truly do not need it. Get her added asap. Plan on delivering in the US so get that ball rolling now.
  12. Yes I know full well what the guidelines says. But just like everything else in Canada they do things differently. It's get a waiver of get the vaccines, the clinics/doctors will not release the medical until one or the other is done.
  13. Most vaccine series, such as Hep A or B, MMR you only have to have the first shot to get it started, but for Covid it has it's own rule and it needs to be completed.
  14. It's the way the Canadian doctors are has been for this way for almost 20yrs. They will not release the medical without all vaccines completed. That is unless you are going to get a waiver. In Canada a K1 cannot forgo the vaccines until they enter the US. It has to be done or the medical will not be completed.
  15. If a doctor will not mark it off as contraindicated then it is a moral issue. It is your health and you will not allow a vaccine to further harm you.
  16. Even a K1 in Canada needs to have all vaccines or they will not release the medical. The OP needs to find a Canadian doctor who will actually speak out about COvid which is going to be very hard in Canada. They are still pushing and punishing those for anything Covid related. @nomororo Personally I would get all your medical records take them to the Panel physician and give him all the information about what the vaccine did to you. Hopefully he will just mark it as contraindicated. If not you will have to go the waiver route.
  17. ~~Moved to What Visa Do I Need, From AOS from K1/K3 P&P- the OP is still in Canada and just now looking into the process.~~
  18. I haven't see4n anyone personally from Montreal. Some of the High fraud countries yes for sure.
  19. I don't think anyone was lying or making things up. It is quiet possible they had new CO's or all had the same one. Montreal has been pretty out of the box compared to other consulates. If they were transferred to Montreal more recently they might have been used to different procedures. But really who the heck knows what is going on there from one minute to the next.
  20. Honestly I think that was a fluke. They stopped doing that way back when I was going through this, so 17 years.
  21. Same thing here, it's nuts. Another reason I'm glad we homeschool them. The Tornado doesn't get up until noon most days. I was told some BS story about it is because or working parents. Which is total BS because most still have to use before and aftercare since school still doesn't match up to working hours. Back home they had a high school that did not start until 10am and there was still wiggle room depending on certain classes.
  22. ~~Moved to General Immigration Discussion, from IR1/CR1 P&P- As the OP is asking about elections and immigrations~~
  23. If your ex wife sent something in, they will not release it to you as it is her letter/form/paper. Second if you're worried about what she may have sent them, then you're going to have to own up to it if they ask. Thirdly, anytime someone gains immigration benefits from a spouse they can and often do ask whatever they feel like asking and you are to answer truthfully.
