Green card interview on 9/24 at 9am, Green card approved at 4:30 pm later that day and at 9:05 pm today, 9/25, our baby boy decided he wanted to come 2 1/2 weeks early, perfectly healthy!!!, oh and it was my wife’s birthday on Monday too. What an unbelievable week it’s been!!! Praise God!

FYI, I saw a September 2019 filer at NYC (K1 visa) whose interview just got scheduled.  He had submitted the re-renewal for EAD/AP in August-September.  Maybe the renewals are prompting interviews to be scheduled.  @Fer Schvarztman

Our office is in Oakland Park, FL. Original interview was set for 4/20/20 but due to COVID it was rescheduled to 9/24, 5 months.

    Hey guys,

Interview was this morning the 24th at 9 AM and it went great. My wife and I were called in at 9:21 and walked out by 9:45.

    - He swore us in and asked me a few questions like name, address and if I've been previously married.

    - Then he asked my wife the same questions plus several from the list like if she's been arrested or if she's part of a terrorist organization etc.

    - He asked if there was any more evidence we wanted to provide so we gave him our recent bank statements, updated insurance card and photos from the last year or so, about 25 total.

    - While he was looking at the pictures he asked me how we met and who went to our wedding.

    - After looking at everything he asked how far along my wife was (she's 37 weeks so it was very obvious) and congratulated us on our first baby.

    - Finally he said that he has up to 120 days or something to make a decision but that he never takes that long and that we should get a letter fairly soon.

Sure enough at 4:30 PM today we got our status updated to "New Card Being Produced"!!!!

We're so glad this is over with, at least until her citizenship process starts. Hope it goes well for everyone still waiting! see you in a few years.

To clarify for all, there is currently an injunction, so the Public Charge Rule is NOT enforceable by the Department of State (which covers all of us doing the process outside of the country).

This means that-- at least as long as there is an injunction-- they should not ask you for the DS 5540 at the visa interview. My husband just had his interview, and they did not ask him for this form. Another person on here also just had their interview and similarly was not asked for the form.

It is confusing because there were 2 injunctions issued against the Public Charge Rule (back in July, I think). One of them was successfully successfully appealed (so the Public Charge Rule went back into effect for those doing their processes WITHIN the US). But the injunction against the Dept of State is still active, per the Dept of State's website (https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/News/visas-news/update-on-public-charge.html)

Yes, the court in NY wants to try to block the public charge rule again as they did in February 2020. For now it's effective again, still don't know for how long, as if Baiden wins the election this Public Charge Rule may not apply. Good news for all of guys is you have the chance to plan way ahead not to be affected by it in a negative way.

If I get to know any updates about this will let yall know. Let's keep it up!

Interview was today at 0930  (Baltimore Field Office) arrived at 0915 checked in by 0925 called into interview around 0940 was back in car heading home 1006.
Looked at both our government issued ID my DOD Military Retirement card and her DOD Dependent card. Looked at her Thai Passport and Visa Asked how we met and chatted about her having some issues passing the Lerners Permit test to drive and complimenter her on her English which is good since she feels her English is not good and I am the only one that understands her lol!!! They basically went line by line using the  I-485 verifying information and that she knew what was on the form made a couple minor adjustments like adding her SSN and updating her cell number Asked if we had any questions said she would be approving but was waiting on my wife's complete K-1 package before she could complete the adjudication Of note she didn't asked to see any additional evidence and she stated everything was in order and looked good and told my wife good luck on her retest for Learners Permit and that she will be fine and pass. She did say if we haven't seen any update on her card status by October we should call for a status update.

We had our interview today and it went well and was very short....the lady said she didn't see anything wrong and we would know by the end of the week.... She only asked to see things we had jointly and asked my husband his name, my name and date of birth. She asked me had i met his parents and that was it the rest of the time we talked about how beautiful Cape Town is... I'm hoping to get notice that card is on the way so we can take an immigration break for a minute.....

Hell yeah! Notice of interview scheduled!
NYC Based, priority date of 15th July 2019.

    Questions:

How long does it take for the letter to arrive? Does the interview date exist anywhere online? How far out is the interview typically scheduled? What should I do for the medical records? Need to look into getting a official check-up asap!

The form is the same Andyazcu shared. You use the original EAD/AP form but I believe there is a place or box you need to check off to indicate renewal. I just said renewal so I could clarify that it is the second time we are sending the form. We haven’t made it to the form yet, since we wanted to gather the documents first.

    Hello!

We are getting ready to start our EAD/AP renewal process and we know the forms were updated recently.  Has anyone filled and filed the new ones?  Do we need to add anything new proff besides the ones below?

    •  NOA1 (acceptance) for original EAD/AP
    •  Renewal forms for EAD/AP
    •  Copy of original EAD/AP (front/back)
    •  Copy of I-94
    •  Copy of passport
    •  Certified Copy of Marriage Certificate
    •  NOA1 AOS
    •  NOA2 (approval) for original EAD/AP
    •  Two (2) Passport style photos
    •  Copy of state ID

We are also going to include the mailer that came with the card when it was mailed to us.

I went to one in Harlem because is the one closer to where I live. No problem at all with that.

It was really easy. You following the questions and then at some point it asks you to make an appointment and that’s it. I took my GC, old ID, ConEdison bill and SSN.

@andyazcu Thanks for the good vibes! I always check Visajourney messages, when I started using the website back in january 2018, really helped me to prepare my case and share info with others in Argentina as well as international threads. So now that I know a little more about the process, I like t share and help others and return to the community as much as I can. ❤

That being said, our experience with the joint account thing was very similar. My husband was the K1 visa petitioner, so we wanted to create a joint account on one of his bank accounts. The day we go to the bank, they say that me (the foraner/beneficiary), needed to update my passport in order to show my married name to match the information in the marriage certificate (?), so wired coz' my maiden name is also on the certificate 🙃 .

It was fishy, so we tried to open an account at  Bank of America; They asked the basic:  State IDs, Marriage Certificate and I don't remember quite well if they also asked to add a service bill under my name, or copy of the k1 visa stamp on my passport. You better double check with the bank if you would like to go for this option.

After our first year with Bank of America we closed it. First, asked for the reference letter and all the statements to add on the AOS Interview Affidavit of support. Don't  forget to do this if you switch banks or close an account. We added an Affidavit of support even though the AOS interview Notice check list says to do it if you haven't sent one before with the AOS Application.

Then, we opened the joint account where my husband built his credit score to help me start with good credit and not from scratch.

Hope this information helps you,  I don't think that paperwork is really needed to finally get a joint account, as well as it was not necessary to have my passport updated.

    Thanks once again to everyone!
