What if I am a K nonimmigrant visa holder and already had a medical examination overseas?
      Form I-693 Instructions 07/15/19 Page 7 of 12
If you were admitted as a:
    A. K-1 fiancé(e) or a K-2 child of a K-1 fiancé(e); or
    B. K-3 spouse of a U.S. citizen or a K-4 child of a K-3 spouse of a U.S. citizen; and
    C. You received a medical examination prior to admission, then:
    (1) You are not required to have another medical examination as long as you file your Form I-485 within one year of an overseas medical examination; and
    (a) The panel physician did not find a class A medical condition during your overseas examination; or
    (b) The panel physician did find a class A medical condition, you received a waiver of inadmissibility, and
you have complied with the terms and conditions of the waiver.
    (2) Even if a new medical examination is not required, you must still show proof that you complied with the vaccination requirements. If the vaccination record (DS 3025) was not properly completed and included as part of the original overseas medical examination report, you will need to have the Part 10. Vaccination Record completed by a designated civil surgeon. In this case, you must submit Parts 1. - 5., 7., and 10.
    of Form I-693.

as long as you meet the conditions above, just take your DS-3025 (Vaccination Record) from your medical in your home country with you to your interview and you will be okay.

Nope, there is no date or any benefit granted on your I-797. It's just a receipt that showed you filed. DMVs generally need an end date to put on a license.

USCIS knows you get to stay until a decision is made on your AOS so they would not kick you out. But you're not going to find that in writing that could explain it to banks, landlords, cops, and any number of people who are puzzled by that limbo-land period K1s go through.

My ssn was manually verified twice before marriage and when name changed.
Each time it took about 2 weeks to get my ssn card. Be patient and if you’ve heard nothing after 4 weeks to back in.

I had the same experience. 1 week after SAVE returned the case, I received my SS card in the mail. All sounds completely fine to me!

Well, based on where you’re sat, right this second, proves that you don’t really need one 🙃

My office tossed aside my form and she just started typing. Didn't bother looking at what I wrote. I did ask, may I have a middle name please? She said "Nope, because that's not in the database. You get what you get". 😂

The sad sad truth is some workers know what their doing and some have little experience with K1s because they're a rarity compared to other immigrants and regular Americans who fill their offices to overflowing daily.  It's Russian Roulette when you go in on exactly what will happen. I think if you apply matching the I-94 you have a better chance. But be aware of the rules so you don't fall for random BS like your visa turned into a K3. Remember just because they work for the government doesn't mean they have a clue about immigration nuances. And if the worker doesn't seem to be zipping through and done and starts talking manual verify, then ask for a supervisor and act like you plan to camp there all night until they bring one out (politely of course.)

And just because you don't have a middle name on your SS card doesn't mean you can't use your middle name in your everyday life. Or that ladies can't start using their married name because it's not on their SS card. Social Security Administration doesn't define your legal name. The number is what counts. Not many places even need to see the card. They just want the number.

That’s useful, if depressing! I’m going to go back to my plan of applying straight away then 🙃.

It takes 2 weeks for your paperwork and such to all be in the system, and then it takes around 2 weeks from when you apply for them to issue it and you receive it.

If you apply too early, and your name isn't in the SAVE (I believe it's called this) Database then it needs to be manually verified and this can take up to 8 weeks I think

The bank I went to accepted just my passport and having my fiancee who was already a member at the credit union. The only downside (really not a downside) is I can't earn any interest until I add my Social Security Number when that comes through.

It was really quite simple. They did ask for a letter addressed to me proving I lived at the address,  but they waived it when we explained the situation and that my fiancee was already a member. I'm not sure where you are in Michigan, but this was with Consumers Credit Union

Thank you @Zoeeeeeee!!!! I'm here and everything is okay! Had a small issue at POE, CBP Officer said there was some paperwork in my packet for a H1-B visa so that caused some confusion, but I was admitted as a K1. I got my bank account yesterday!

Thank you for wishing me with sage, it brought a huge smile to my face!

I got mine back too, not in the white envelope. I think they are just returning original copies of documents. The I-134 isn’t an “official” document, it’s just used to help the embassy decide whether you’ll be a public charge or not.

Mine was with the W-2 and police certificate they asked for at the interview.

Don’t worry, the embassy know what they’re doing. They’d have put it all in a new envelope if they made a mistake like that.
