Yup, I assume there are some general "steps" the USCIS officers follow, if it was something basic like:
1. Begin processing (means someone has actually finally opened your packet)
2. Background check
3. Final review & processing
4. Approval/RFE
At least then you'd have a better sense of how it was moving along.

I agree.
Even if I did not understand what each 'milestone' was/meant, seeing that something was being done/accomplished would improve the experience.

I think you can be both a realist and raise/acknowledge process issues. I think back to when I renewed by passport last year, I got a text/e-mail when they received my package, a text/email when they started processing it, a text/email when it was all set & shipped. If the Dept of State has something set up that gives regular & accurate updates to its customers, don't see why USCIS couldn't do the same. I don't think it's necessary the amount of time that bothers people, it's mostly being in the dark about what step in the process they are it. Getting notified at the start and then being completely in the dark until the very last step is tough. If the process was set up with a few different milestones, and people could get easy visibility to where they stood (assuming USCIS actually updated their website), I think that would go a long way to alleviate some anxiety. You can throw your hands up and just say the process is what it is and just accept it, but since I work in process & process improvement, I guess I'm just trained to have that not sit well with me.

Its so annoying to see that post. Most of us already know that generic information...but what we are experiencing is totally different. I wish USCIS actually had a forum or an updated tracking system so that we would have a better estimate of our progress...but even on their own website..it states "we use historical data and cant tell you how long it will take to complete an application filed today" #######!!!🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

From my understanding, I don't think that should affect the K1 process too much since that is processed at US facilities. It also states the move is supposedly meant to help clear the US backlogs quicker, which would be good for us here (but I'll believe it when I see it with the track record of this administration so far)

Ok in a general sense it may affect all of us. But if your app is already pending to be approved..as in touched and in final stages..it wont. That is what i am saying! Someone with your noa1 date just got approved yesterday. So you should be next. And despite what that website shows...people are still getting approved in less than 6 months.

Well...they are definitely working on october at least. So it sucks for november and december filers 😭. I dont see how they would slow done the momentum tho unless they only work on one app per day..smh

Just got my NOA2 yesterday, NOA1 was on November 3rd! The app didn't update for me, just happened to notice an email in a mailbox I set up just for this and I was praying it wasn't an RFE.

Ok. So some of you that are being approved are late october filers. I know the noa1 notice date may show an early november date but some of you sent the packet over a week before you received the NOA2. With this..its makes it harder for timelimes to be accurate. To all the other novembers..dont worry..it really seems like they work im received date order and not NOA1 notice date. Hang in there..we should all be getting approved faster than last year's approvals. ❤❤💙💙💙
