Hi, I'm K1. Our case finally moved from NVC to Montreal on Dec. 8. First Ready was Dec. 16. I'm diligently checking the CEAC site for a second Ready for my P3. Our NOA2 was Mar. 24, 2020.

Hey! Thanks for your reply! I'm going to try to join the facebook group so i can get some updates from my fellow Canadians

That's a bummer that they stopped the dates for January! I wonder what's up with that haha. I hope we get some good news soon!

If you’re on Facebook, I highly recommend joining the Canadian K1 and Spousal Visa Group. They post really helpful info and updates on there. Also, the consulate has been processing K1 visas since September. They first started with the canceled interviews from March and April then continued with the cases sent to the consulate before it shut down. On December 8th, they also requested some cases from NVC to send to the consulate (including mine), though they didn’t request any on the next shipment date of December 22nd.

I will also say that the last interview date they gave for K1’s was December 7th, and since then, there have been many K1 people who sent their P3’s back in November but have yet to receive an interview date. They also didn’t give out any K1 interviews for January but still scheduled January dates for CR1 applicants. It seems like after a good 3 months of K1 interviews from Sept-Nov, they’ve completely paused again. I’m hoping for some good news this week!

One more thing - if you’re on any social media (FB, Twitter, Instagram), I highly recommend commenting or tweeting on the consulate’s posts about processing K1 visas. It puts some pressure on them

You should be a part of the conversation for your embassy/region on in the subforum section. That's where you'll find more up to date information from others who are processing through Montreal. Go to the blue ribbon above, select "forums" then scroll about three-fourths of the page down and select the region that most represents where your country is located.

Its been almost one year since this thread was started and most of us here filed...alot has happened including Bans, Covid, elections....some have been privileged to have their petition approved while others even obtained the highly sorted K1 visa and are presently with their spouses....If there is someone here that has not been approved...I hope you get your approval soon...and those of us still waiting, I hope January 20th brings us new beginnings and finally we can be with our fiancé/fiancée.

I needed some good news badly. I just got layed-off at work yesterday, I was feeling kinda bumbed. But last night I dreamt our case was approved then woke up to that text! Wooohoo! Things are looking up 😍

Didn't see a December 2019 thread started so here it is. Congratulations on the submission of your K1 visa application. This forum will be very helpful to you through your visa process "journey" as we call it here. If you have not done so yet please fill out your time line as it makes it easier for other VJers to assist you if you should have any questions later on during your journey.

Best advice, is remember why you have submitted your K1 application and do not set very high expectations of the process. Current processing times according to USCIS are 5.5 to 7.5 months (for case adjudication only), some could be sooner some much later. The trends so far this year have been considerably less than what USCIS has listed, which is good news for current filers. Let's hope this trend continues on through this last month of the year.

Hello everyone! I just completed my K1 Fiance Visa Interview at the US embassy in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. I thought I'd share my experience with anyone who's interested!

    Before the Interview:
What is your full name and your fiance's full name?
What is your address and your fiance's address?
What is your phone number and your fiance's phone number?
This is both you and your fiance's first time being married, correct?

*Requested passport, receipt of payment, original birth certificate, copy of birth certificate, police certificate, passport style photos, sealed medical envelope, and affidavit of support (only form I-134 was requested.) They also had me record my fingerprints electronically.
**No other documents were requested at all at any time.

    Interview:
How did you come to know each other?
When was the first time you physically met?
Do you have a date set for your wedding?
What was the most amount of time you've spent in the United States?
Have you been to Iran or China in the last two weeks?
I see you mentioned having a criminal history, explain.

I was then given a welcome letter of approval for my visa and returned my birth certificate. I was informed it will take 2-3 weeks for my Visa and passport to be mailed back to me. I inquired on the timeline, they mentioned having to check the database first. I mentioned that I understood most cases get their Visas in less than a week from what I've heard- I asked if 2-3 weeks is just how long it could take, they said yes, I may receive it much sooner than expected.

    Experience Overall:
I understood I was not allowed to bring my cell phone with me to the embassy, that simply is not true despite saying it on the embassy website for Montreal. They have small lockboxes at the entrance for you to keep your cell phone in while you are inside.
My interview was a breeze and very brief. They did not request most of the documents I had brought with me, which was kind of disappointing considering the effort I put into getting everything. I was in and out of the embassy in less than an hour, and for most of that time I was just sitting in a waiting room.

    😊
