I had my interview last week. The interviewer was very tough, but I guess that's their job. I was terrified but I was able to answer all the questions asked and provide anything that was requested. My spouse was then called in. After that, they both came out, and I was handed the paper with the "decision cannot be made" marked.

I knew this was coming. It's the vibe that I got once I went in and how the environment felt. However, this didn't turn me down. I understood -- although didn't agree with, to be honest -- that it's their job to scrutinize the applications and the interview, but it was intimidating. That didn't stop me and I stayed calmed and all.

Five hours after the interview, I received the following notices: "Your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization, was placed in line for oath ceremony scheduling" and "We recommended that your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization, be approved. Your case was submitted for quality review". Then, the very next day at around 10:00 AM, the following notice was added: "Oath Ceremony Notice Was Mailed".

After 10:00 AM, at around 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM, I received the following notice for my I-751: "Case Was Approved".

To be honest, I was scared and intimidated; however, when I saw those updates, specially the very first one after 5 hours from the interview, I started to feel better and I felt the best when I received the oath ceremony notice and that my I-751 was approved. It was a combo interview.

Don't be discouraged if the person conducting the interview is a bit tough on you. It's their job to act this way and as long as everything you have is legitimate, there is nothing that will stop you from succeeding and ultimately, becoming a USC.

My oath ceremony is for next month.

    Thanks, all.

I got my interview on August 9th in NYC and I was approved on the spot. My oath ceremony hasn't been scheduled yet though. I've read online that it can take anywhere between 3 to 6 weeks but I'm getting a bit worried. Is it worth reaching out to them at this point in time or am I just being impatient ? Thanks!

Yesterday my citizenship journey ended, took the oath ceremony at the local USCIS office. There was only 8 of us, but it was very pleasant and intimate, my wife and other guests were able to watch as well.

Thankful for it to be done, I hope everyone's journey goes smoothly.

I just received an update on this:

My N-400 interview has been scheduled on August 19th, 2022 for the end of September, 2022. I'm expecting a combo interview so I'm bringing my spouse with me. There has not been any movement on my I-751, other than being transferred to NBC on June 15th, 2022.

Does anyone in this same situation have any tips, specially if they are from NYC?

    Thanks!!!

I should have my wife's packet out maybe as soon as sometime in the afternoon after I wake up. Got to write up 5 summary letters detailing each section, review each section and place sticky note tabs for faster file location and I think I will be able to go straight to USPS/FEDEX and mail it off for her. I am debating before I send it off though if I should scan it all as one huge PDF Document, and slap it to the cloud, create a view only/suggestions link and then slap then into a new letter just in case they "lose" anything lol. So yeah, I definitely went a little overboard. I have her folder to almost an inch thick lol.

After all the examples I ended up finding on here I went with something like this. Her folder is currently almost an inch thick roflmao. I was planning to do more but scaled it back some. 😆😅

Hey everyone! Best of luck to us all. We just got a new laser printer, which will be getting quite the workout in the next couple weeks as I print and prepare our packet. We're filing later in the month.

NjK reacted to carmel34 in Filing I-751 soon: advice required
We filed the I-751 in late May, and the package was 528 single-sided pages.  How much you send is a personal decision of course, but I wanted to be as thorough as possible with evidence since the date of our marriage, so we sent every page of our joint checking account since marriage (3 years) and every page of our joint credit card statements (3 years), plus all IRS tax transcripts and much more.  The I-751 instructions say regarding evidence of the bona fide marriage relationship, to "Submit copies of as many documents as you can to establish this fact, to demonstrate the circumstances of the relationship from the date of the marriage to the present date..." (page 5 of the I-751 instructions), so that's exactly what we did.  Good luck!

    They rarely stamp.
Why? because all approvals at the interview must go through a supervisor so unless your interviewer is a supervisor, you wont be approved at the interview.

Guys, yesterday I saw on my Informed Delivery that I was getting something from USCIS. I was disappointed after I was able to (barely) make out the text on the first line as being ”application for employment authorization and advanced”. They’re just sending me another combo card.

However, today my I-485 status was updated to Card/Document Production. And when I track it I can see that the card will be here Tuesday! I feel incredibly relieved. And ready to be done with USCIS for another year and nine months. I’m going to renew my expired ID, get my driver’s license, book travel, and respond to requests from work about my expiring work authorization extension

It took them seven weeks post interview to approve so everyone who’s stuck should not give up hope for a good result despite delays.
