    Required Docs at AOS Interview

May I ask, for those who have already had their AOS interview, what evidence did you present for your IRS tax return from last year? I know I can print out a transcript but I've heard they want "certified" copies? I have also seen that the IRS can take 6-8 weeks to send them out. Any advice on best way to approach this requirement?

    Thanks in advance!

I sent in tax transcript, return and w2 with my packet and was not asked for any of this at our interview

  2. Got the notice that card was shipped Oct 31st.  This came from new site and the app . Old site isnt loading for me.  Sometimes mail from Memphis takes about 24 hours and sometimes 48 depending on when it was picked up.  Feeling very grateful right now. The light at the end of the tunnel is blinding :)

He will be working in a few weeks. Lord knows we need it lol

Edit* Old site is now working and reflecting the same update*

I had my biometric over a month ago, EAD and AOS still says fingerprint review was completed it's so frustrating. I'm tempted to send an expedited request for EAD because my parents are in need for money at home. But Idk if that is enough proof 😔

no thats not enough proof and it seems everyone is pretty much still waiting for these things.  We had his bio in July and still no EAD or AP. In fact we had the green card interview yesterday so it looks like he will get his greencard before his combo card. Its just the way it seems to be now.

Oh, I wasn't joking.  I've been an RN for 20 years, the last 15 in oncology.  I have seen first hand how diagnoses can ruin people financially.  I think it is very irresponsible to not have health insurance.  I can't understand it not being a priority and a significant factor when taking a job.

Crazy how the other half has to live huh. Maybe in the next life I'll get the luxury of options.

I would.  Self-treat doesn't work out so well when you need an emergency cholecystectomy or appendectomy.

Yes, the current state of the health care crisis is very much something to joke about. Thanks. I have looked at options until my eyes have crossed. Between the bills and trying to eat somewhat healthy affording health insurance is very very difficult but please make jokes. Its not like the love of my life may have to leave after he gets rejected for his green card.  Isnt it funny? I was asking to see if that sort of awful coverage would help us because its about all I can afford until he can work.

If you had applied for an EAD with your AOS application, your husband could have been working already. You could get him any plan that is offered in your state right now, the same as yourself privately. Of course there will be cost for that. You could try and obtain a short term plan, but these are not ACA compliant and their coverage is dubious at best. I certainly understand about the cost, it's one of the many reasons that people choose to go without, but it is a good form of comingling for the future and is one of those responsibilities as a sponsor.

No he will get his green card before his EAD

  7. My employer does not offer insurance and the marketplace for me is close to 400 a month. I can't pay that. So I go without and self treat. Im young and pretty healthy. We have my husbands interview Oct 28th for his green card. When he gets his green card he will get insurance quickly (soft job offer) so while we knew we needed insurance we have just been waiting until he can go to work.

Now Im scared that he will be denied his green card. So Im looking at plans. We could just get him a plan right? I mean the US doesn't give a flip whether I have health care or not right? So we could get a plan that covers accident/hospitalization only?

It's a lot for anyone who doesn't have to live in the USA and doesn't understand how much health care costs here.  I still have a hard time going to the dr when I know I'm getting sick because I know how much it'll cost me.  I just wait until I literally can't swallow, breathe, walk etc...

Same. Hoard antibiotics like its the Apocalypse and WebMD most everything else. I see a doctor only when I absolutely have to and that usually means when Im being forced by a loved one. Hubby should be getting awesome insurance once his GC gets approved (soft job offer) and I wont even know how to act having good health insurance lol

  9. So many people run into this same issue. You could try calling and explaining that you will happily pay a transcription fee along with the immunization fee. Most people are charged around 50 to 75 for the transcription fee. Its worth a shot. You could also look into DRs in the nearby state. Most Civil Surgeons charge 400 and up for the examination so even after gas for the road trip finding a doctor who will do just the shots and transcriptions might still be cheaper.

I just knew that one one of my friends’ application was also denied because of missed documents even after they set up interview. Uscis squeezes money...

maybe or maybe not but at the present time you have to file AOS again. Its either that or live out of statues or go back to your home country. Its the only thing you can do.

We've done the biometrics at the beginning of the process, and we got a receipt for both two saying we've done it. We provided this information at our interview. Our green card is literally in the mail. I have the tracking number for it, it's out for delivery scheduled for Monday.

If we don't go, will it cancel itself?

Green Card trumps combo card. I'd say once you got your green card in hand you should be ok to ignore those notices BUT I'd research the heck out of that first. It is the Feds after all. Maybe get on the website and do the ask Emma thing or email the field office?
