    Tennessee: https://www.tn.gov/safety/driver-services/classd/dlnew.html

    Specially, see this link: https://www.tn.gov/content/tn/safety/driver-services/classd/dltemporary.html

"Valid Foreign Passport with Valid Visa and I-94 attached " covers the 90 days from entry.

"Employment Authorization Card (I-766)" covers the period once you have an EAD.

    Mississippi: https://www.dmv.com/ms/mississippi/drivers-license-renewal

"The following documents establish legal presence of non-U.S. citizens:

    • Permanent Resident Card AKA green card
    • Employment Authorization Certificate AKA EAD
    • Asylee/Refugee Certificate
    • Valid foreign passport stating U.S. entry AKA passport w/ visa + I-94"

Thank you for sending these links, but I've already seen them.

Neither of these sites explain if the license will expire with the I94. I've been Googling like crazy and found the SAVE program which might be useful. Do you happen to know anything about that program or how it might help to have a longer period before the license expires?

Check the DMV for the state you're moving to.  The rules really vary (here in Washington, my husband had no issue in getting his license for the regular 5 years).

International driving license has little meaning in the US when someone comes here intending to become a permanent resident.

Thank you. The information online is so lacking and when I call the DMV those people do not seem to know what they are talking about either.

I wouldn't worry about a full on drivers license yet, because like you said it's only good for a few months. My K1 fiancee, now wife and I decided to get her a State ID, and make it real ID compliant. around 10 bucks to get the state ID, so being valid for only 2-3 months isn't too bad, but it will get you in the system so when you get ready to move, or get a license in another state it will make it easier as you will have an ID already. Plus it's better than carrying around a passport all the time. And if he wants to do anything age restricted such as buy alcohol he will have something to show, even after it expires no one looks that close at it, so you will still get some use out of it, if just to prove age.

Thanks for the advice but he really wants to be driving!

  4. I'm not sure if this is the right place for this question, but here it goes: My husband arrived on a K1 visa on 2/10/19. We are trying to get his driver's license but are finding so much conflicting information. Firstly, he does not speak English well, but we recently found out he can take the test in Arabic. Now someone told me that even if he gets his license, it will expire on the same date as his I94 which would be 5/10/19. It doesn't seem worth all the trouble for him to only be able to drive two months. Then I'm guessing we have to wait for the green card for him to get another driver's license. Is that correct?

We currently live in Tennessee but are moving to Mississippi in the next two months. Are the rules in Mississippi any different? I've read he would have been able to drive for a year if he had gotten an international driving permit in Morocco, but, alas, he did not do that. Any advice?

Thank you. Unfortunately I don't share your love for the 90 Day show but I am so glad someone has finally mentioned the bits they don't see, the abudance of work the couple has to put in (when not bank rolled and assisted by a company).

All in all an amazing post and blog, will definitely be having a more indepth read as I've done a very similar thing but purely for personal reference and looking back at in the future. I think it's amazing that in 10-15 years the two of you and (not going to spoil the name part here) <Child Name> can go through it all and see how far you've come :)

Yes, I think having all of this written out will be awesome for us and hopefully help others as well. As far as "90 Day Fiancé" it's definitely a love/hate relationship! lol.

  6. Hello, everyone. As many of you know my Moroccan fiancé (now husband!) just arrived in the USA and I've been blogging about our experiences. I've just written a post about how we put together our initial I-129F packet and thought the information might be helpful to some people here so please check it out if you're interested: coolcathleen.com

i would  say the issues at Washington POE is related to  that being our nations  capital and they may be a little more skepical of him flying to there instead of a flight to Europe  and then onto Nashville or another international in the USA

it has only been a short time that direct flights from Morocco came into being

and the fact that his English was poor didn't help

BTW  asking the questions like what address did u live at and would he go there,  is to protect u

some have come to the US and gotten off at POE and never arrived to the fiancee

a man in Atlanta wrote about a year ago that his K1 fiancee was texting him inside the airport that customs and immigration would not let her stay/ sending her back to her country

as he was driving off,   he saw her leaving in a car

not all who say they love us  are honest

Yes, that’s a good point that the Casablanca  to DC flight is newer so that may have been part of the reason behind the extra scrutiny.

    hi guys,

    need some help please,

our petition was approved and we received an email from nvc stating that it was sent to the consulate in morocco on the 8th of January.

we have not heard from the consulate yet,

we are confused, do we file the ds 160 ?

or we have to wait for consulate to send us a letter ?

it has been a month and we are not sure how to proceed, please advice.

The American petitioner needs to email the embassy everyday requesting the interview. Include both your names, dates of birth, WAC and receipt numbers. Email ivcasablanca@state.gov

Congratulations!  Just a note that the day our status changed to Issued, my fiance went to Aramex just to see if his passport was there by chance, even though ustraveldocs.com didn't show that visa was ready for pick up and Aramex didn't contact him, and it was there!

The person at Aramex didn't even show it was there yet in thier system, but for some reason his package and passport was there the same day status changed to Issued, so if you fiance can just go to Aramex and ask them to check, his passport may just already be there.  Don't wait to be contacted by Aramex.....

    Thanks for the advice!

No no not at all , I really hope it does go smoothly for her as well.

Thank you both. The differences between individual cases are what makes it so difficult. Another man who did the interview the same day as my fiance got his passport back three days ago. It's just the whole no communication/not knowing/differences in every case that make people crazy!

when  CO  says approved and register at aramex and  does not ask for any additional documents,  u are good to go

AP  that lasts for months is usually for those requiring additional  evidence such as the ds5535

did the CO  keep your  passport?

did the CO give you the "Welcome to the USA letter"?

saving my congratulations till the visa is in hand so let us all know when this happens

allah yessir means God  will set this right

Yes, they kept his passport and gave him the welcome letter. Hopefully, we will just wait a few more days. Thanks for your response. I will definitely keep everyone updated.

Actually, NO ONE really knows how long administrative processing will take.  They can even do more checks........please keep us informed

The consular officer is the one who said two weeks though. I wish they just wouldn't say a time frame so then people wouldn't get nervous when the time they tell you has passed.
